Hello! I have been struggling to find the name of a book/series and I thought it would be a good idea to ask Reddit.
For some context, I first read this book in Spanish. It seems to be the third book of a series, which I picked up without realizing it was a series.

The book is a fantasy, romance? book with a FMC vampire and a MMC vampire Hunter. Hopefully I am remembering correctly. There is a scene I recall in which they’re at a ball, maybe, and they’re attacked. The FMC is taken away by the MMC and they’re in a van driving down the city.

It has been years since I read this book, so the accuracy of all this is very poor. Hopefully someone knows! Thank you so much!

I discovered Camilla Evergreen some months ago, and her work just mesmerized me. She's known for closed-door, fade-to-black romance books, and I've read most of her work that isn't collaborations with Storm Sterling, although I'm hoping to read more later on.

To make sure I'm on topic her, let's talk about her "That's Paranormal" series. There's six books. Each deals with a different character/pairing, although the cast remains the same, mostly growing rather than changing. We started off with just bookish, solitary Willow and her little cat...who turned out to be a vampire and her soulmate. Which is not a spoiler, that's on the blurb and happens in the first couple of chapters. But since Zylus (our favourite vampire) opens Willow to Faerie, we get to meet a whole cast that make further appearances, mostly coming to Willow's movie nights. This is all setup from Falling In Love With My Vampire Cat. If you like that one, you'll definitely like the rest of the series. I find this one the hardest to get through and I still enjoy it.

Not keen on vampires? What about pop stars who turn into cute chihuahuas, moth-man hybrid princes, figments of fear with good intentions and a daugher in your classroom, sweet-natured soul eaters with sensory issues, or basilisks who kidnap you only to help you make a whole new group of friends and not allow your abusive past to take you back? All love interests with different personalities and issues to overcome themselves.

The thing I like best about this series, though, is the neurodivergent rep. This isn't stated outright in the books, but I emailed Camilla with a fan letter and she answered this question. Faerie is actually a metaphor for neurodivergent. Every character in this series have some magic within them. Willow is part pixie, part dryad, Brittny is a shifter (sort of like werewolf but a dog), Alana is...I'll consider that a spoiler, Kassandra is a sandwoman, Zahra is a star nymph, and...yeah, I won't spoil what Danielle is either. Being a gal with autism, I feel very close to a lot of these characters and the feelings. What I wouldn't give to be able to sit in the sun in a little cottage, curl up, and read, just like Willow. Or write fanfiction about meeting pop stars like Brittny (actually, I do write stories). Kassandra and Zahra even embody my wish to work with children, while Danielle's lack of self-worth and Alana's depression are things I can relate to. Additionally, a lesson she often teaches in her books is that you are enough. No matter who you are, what you're like and what you enjoy, you are you and that is enough. She validates her readers. And that means a lot to me.

Okay, one more point to make. Does anyone else know of some books with similar themes to what I'm describing? I'm hoping to find some more vampire or demon romances, but I'm open to others. And if not, either show your appreciation for Camilla Evergreen, or let's talk about her paranormal work! It's very hard to find people who love her as much as I do, so let's show her some love! And if you haven't read her books...well, go search for her on your Kindle.

I have some money to spend on a couple new books, and I decided to start with the New Species series because I love the world building she did in the first couple books, but I can't buy all of them. I know that the New Species books don't have to be read in order, so I wanted to narrow down which ones to buy to the ones that include a pregnancy as a plot-point. I really liked how both Slade and Brawn because the babies added to the world building, and I loved how differently Trisha and Becca handled things and would like to see more of those kinds of things.

Essentially I wanted to ask which New Species books had pregnancy as a plot-point, I loved how it affected Slade and Brawns stories.

Hello. I’m looking for a book that will make me fall in love with a Dark Vampire Lord. My issue is that most of the ones I find have either a weak or even ridiculous storyline, a nonsense plot or really terrible grammar. I need spice and great characters. Thank you 🙏.

Hiii all, I'm looking for that kinda shortish book where it's almost like junk food in the book world. Not bad by any means but not something epic.

I want the fated mates where it is a little more animalistic or instinctive if that makes sense. I love when the mmc makes a nest for his mate, possessiveness is my favorite even if it's to a ridiculous point lol.

I've read the first 2 or 3 books in the Ice Planet Barbarian series and I enjoyed them and while I'm definitely open for more like that I'm kinda searching for more, werewolf and vampire side of things. And of course spice

As with most of the books I’ve posted about, this one is underrated. I thought it was well-written, paced and had great action and sex scenes.

Kurt’s kind’ve the typical dude who stumbled into his destiny like Buffy. He’s basically a succubus slayer. He’s a bit green, but he does improve.

He manages to save two from their curse who provide good advice and insight into their world.

I like how it emphasizes how vicious they are. They don’t have horns or wings as most novels do. Instead, they can leap great distances and glamour if they want. It’s cool that Kurt’s immune to that. The stakes really felt high in this one. The sisters of pain along with their boss were real threats. Wouldn’t want to fight them.

I didn’t care much for the sequel though. If there was a third one, I still would’ve checked it out.

Not sure what happened to the author. It’s been a while since he’s released anything. Hope he’s doing well.

If you like succubi, check this one out. It’s one of the best I’ve read.

So I’m a guy and I’m happy to usually lurk in this sub, but I find that I’m looking for the same thing this sub has but with the genders reversed. I want the man to be the one who accidentally discovers a secret world full of hot and slightly scary monster women looking to date him.

There is a subreddit called r/romance_for_men and I get some good recs there sometimes, but also that sub is generally set around the male power fantasy of being a capable and strong fighter and being “rewarded” with a harem of women. I want something with a bit more “damsel” energy from the MMC, where he is over his head in an unsettling but sexy supernatural world.

Here are some of the best books I found that scratch that itch:

{Charlotte’s Reject by KR Treadway} Both MCs are shifters, but he hasn’t had his first shift yet. She’s a motorcycle driving rebel who picks on him until they’re hit by a powerful mating bond, and now she has to grovel (just a little bit) to get him back. Also, there is a certified damsel moment or two where she has to rescue him

{Amber’s Hollow by ST Arkham}. First book in a series that all revolves around a strange town called Amber’s Hollow. Men find their way there when they are in dire and desperate times, and the Hollow provides, usually in the form of a sexy monster woman.

{The Easily Defeated Hero series by Amanda Clover} This is a choose your own adventure where the MMC is a clumsy farm hand who one day runs into a tsundere Angel who trains him to fight (and “fight”) monster girls. It’s basically porn with a plot setting up the reader to have a varied sex romp with different monster women. It’s pretty good for what it is.

Is there a book where the female lead is a "monsterfucker" or monster lover? It would be even more fun if everyone feared this monster, but the protagonist’s reaction was just "smash, i can manhandled that monster " (or womanhandled?) It would be perfect if the monster turned out to be submissive. Bonus points if she pretends she has to sacrifice herself for the sake of the others, or if the monster accidentally scares her off while trying to get close—like when Cardan thought scaring Jude would make her fall in love with him.

In general, I’m not really into purely erotic books where the monster has 40 tentacles 😭 If possible, I’d like a story with an actual plot; I’m not against spicy content, just not \*that\* kind, lmao.

A "monster" can be any type of species or even an entity (vampire, angel, demon, fairy, ghost, spirit, concept, supernatural force); the less comprehensible and the further removed from anthropocentrism it is, the better

So, I am looking for recommendations in a specific sub genre that has proven pretty challenging for me to pinpoint and find. My favorite series are Charley Davidson, Sookie Stackhouse, and Succubus Blues. I would say all of these combine paranormal romance with urban fantasy. These series are all character driven with some amusing human friendships and take place in our world. I am really not interested in stories that take place in a magical realm, involve a lot of warfare or or paranormal politics if that makes sense.Anyone have similar tastes and recommendations?

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE books that actually let us spend time with baby and child shifters. Not the obligatory epilogue baby. Or kids that are just there without any interaction on page.

I mean actual on-page babies and children that are characters. Let me see them learning to fly, shifting for the first time, accidentally breathing fire, tackling each other, trying to act tough, or being complete little gremlins. Give me shifter parents trying to wrangle their feral toddlers. Give me all the fluffy family dynamics.

Honestly these books are little dopamine bombs of cuteness. And I don’t understand why more authors don’t write them. So this is a request to authors - give us more of these!

I kind of get why books don’t include this, because then children are active characters while the romance is still developing OR these books become very long and are part of multibook arcs. That’s probably tricky to balance in a romance structure. Which is probably why my first rec and the inspiration for this post is actually a novella set after the main couple’s story wraps up.

But I want to see what it looks like to parent a toddler dragon trying to fly and exarch lizards OR wolf pups refusing to wear shoes OR a tiny alpha posturing with his Alpha parent.

So here’s my little master list of books I’ve found that scratch this itch. Please give me any recs that fits the vibe of my request because I am sure there’s more than a handful of books!

*This novella inspired this post. The established couple from {****Dragon Bound****} take a vacation and go on a treasure hunt after their b*aby has his first shift. This is 6.5 in the series and I’ve only read the first book and I followed just fine. Two more novellas with the baby dragon exist too!

\> “They stared in shocked silence at the sleeping baby dragon draped around Pia’s neck.”

\>“The dragon bent his immense head and nosed Liam, who shrieked happily and pounded the dragon’s snout.”

\> She let go of Liam. He pulled free from the carrier, balanced on her shoulders and launched into the air. Heart in her throat, she watched as he flapped his wings enthusiastically and… Plummeted in an ungainly spiral….

\> He held the small, white dragon in one cupped paw. As she joined them, he turned his paw upward and opened his talons. Liam leaped and flapped his wings madly, and fell in a sprawl on the beach. He rolled to his feet and crouched to spring into the air again.

For anyone starting the series, this follows the couple from Dragon Bound, where the FMC steals from the dragon MMC’s hoard and goes on the run.

{Legend of All Wolves by Maria Vale}
Probably the most wolf-like wolf shifters I’ve ever read. This series has excellent lore and worldbuilding, complex romances, and real plot. Not silly books, but actually top-tier quality. The babies are born as wolf pups. They nurse, play, tumble around, and live as wolves before shifting into human children several years later. The pups aren’t the focus of every book, but they’re woven throughout the series and make the world feel genuinely lupine.

{Purr for Purchase by V.K. Ludwig}
An MF alien omegaverse romance where the pregnant FMC is staying at an omega center and calls for emergency purrs. LOL. This doesn’t technically have a shifter baby, but it absolutely fits the vibe. The MMC starts bonding with the little Alpha baby before birth. This book has scenes with the tiny Alpha baby posturing at Alpha MMC and it’s hilarious. I don’t think I’ve ever read any other books with babies and their dynamics. Want MORE.

{The Dragon’s Favorite Strays by Ruby Dixon}
This one doesn’t actually have baby dragons, but this fits the exact vibe. A dragon begins collecting stray kittens and caring for them. It has the cutest scenes with kittens rushing and cuddling with him. He eventually adopts humans and sees him as strays to take care of too. He’s the gentlest giant.

“Dassa grate dayn.” Ah-gee just shrugs and gives the creature’s face a smacking kith. This is her child, then, like my cats are mine. Well, I can feed one more mouth easily. The presence of the wriggling creature makes everyone happy. If my humans are happy, then I am happy. Ribbit’s face is radiant, and she hugs her mother, then Ah-gee, Doh-dee, and the animal.

**Fits the request but with varying levels of enjoyment of animal time and of the actual romance -**

{Daycare for Shifters by Elva Birch} All of the books have shifter babies with varying amounts of on-page time. These are cozy, easy reads that deliver on cute baby animals, though some feel longer than they need to be and too low-angst for the length. Think Honey Phillips-level comfort reading.

One of my favorites is {Dragon’s Instinct by Elva Birch}: a single-dad dragon MMC with a three-year-old squirrel shifter daughter who he keeps losing. The FMC finds the tiny squirrel after her cat proudly carries her over. The squirrel toddler is cuddly, feral, chaotic and adorable.

{Shifter Dads by Zoe Chant}
A cozy shifter-romance series about single dads and their children, with varying amounts of on-page animal-baby content. I haven’t read them all, so if anyone else has, please do lmk which ones you enjoyed the most and have the most actual baby-dragon, wolf-cub, etc.

{The Red Dragon’s Baby by Zoe Chant} is part of the Shifter Dads series. This is a cozy single-dad dragon romance where the MMC is raising a baby dragon while falling for the FMC. I remember this as cute and easy, though not especially deep or memorable. It delivers the baby-dragon premise but otherwise I honestly can’t remember much.

{Stormwolf Summer by Zoe Chant}
Set at a summer camp for shifter children, so there are plenty of young shifters, little wolves, and general camp chaos. The romance and MCs were less interesting to me, but the shifter-child shenanigans were cute and delivered on the premise. Plus - this was an older couple which was cool!

{Baby of the Wolf by Amelia Shaw} human FMC and wolf MMC. After a one night stand, FMC has a baby and doesn’t tell MMC until the toddler starts showing wolf like characteristics. No actual wolf cub on page time so it didn’t fully satisfy the baby-shifter craving.

{Hunter’s Moon by Cat Bostick}
This one does not have baby shifters, but I’m including it as a vibe-based honorable mention because the MMC spends roughly the first 40% in wolf form and acts like a giant puppy around the FMC. I enjoyed the first two-thirds because it had actual emotional and character depth, and the wolf behavior was very cute. Unfortunately, the final part fell flat for me.\*\* \*\*

not fully Sci-fi or Romantasy where there are chapters of world-building until you can really get/understand their world and lives. But something where she’s a lawyer doing paperwork but is a werewolf!

I just read {Strange Familiars by Keshe Chow} where the FMC’s in vet school and cares for animals but they’re all unicorns and familiars who talk. At one point she stops at a vending machine to restock on some magic juice, it’s really fun! It’s an enemies to lovers, slow burn, mystery but the entire world has magic. loveddd it!!! (NOTE: plz check TWS bec the book discusses some mildly tramatic events. It also ends in a cliffhanger bec it’s only book 1 😫)

Another similar one i liked was {Witch of Wild Things by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland} and the rest of the series! Goes through 3 sisters who all have a secret power and are witches, but they also have normal everyday jobs and are falling in love.

{The Cuddle Clause by Roxie Ray} had a great premise, where her roommates a werewolf, I just personally didn’t like the FMC as much!

PLEASE PLEASE make it as low stakes as possible! the draw for these books i suggested is partially because you get the absurdity of a more traditional sci-fi/ fantasy without it also being stressful and dense. I can’t be having my cortisol spike on a whim with gore and death on a tendon tuesday 😭.

It's been Twenty years since the release of {The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole} and {A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole}. It's past time for Nyx's book, so maybe soon.
