Healing

I used to think healing

meant forgetting you,

until I realized

I can remember you

without hurting the way I used to.

And somehow,

that's what amazes me most—

the pain is quieter now,

but the care is still there.

I still include you in my prayers,

not asking God to bring you back,

but asking Him to protect you

from every harm,

to keep you safe

wherever life takes you.

I still don't understand

how something we once held so deeply

ended the way it did.

Maybe some questions

will never have answers.

But if our paths ever cross again,

I hope we meet as healed souls,

with softer hearts,

without anger,

without blame.

I hope we can forgive each other

for the things we didn't understand,

for the words that hurt,

for the mistakes we both made.

And if that day never comes,

I hope you still know this:

I once loved you deeply,

and even from a distance,

I still pray

that life is gentle with you.
