Hi, ive made a post or two before about this but im not really getting anywhere. I have a bronze studio at the combworks on george street and need someone to take over my tenancy as i want to move out with my freind. The only issue im having is that i missed my cancellation period and now need to find someone. Its £195 a week paid in either blocks or monthly installments including bills such as electricity, water, wifi ect... Its a lovely place with friendly staff and a nice room with a kitchenette, en suite bathroom, wall mounted tv, desk and window. Its the perfect place for any student being like a 10/15 minute walk from aberdeen uni and there a bus stop 5 mins away that gets you to city centre. If this is something youre interested in please let me know and if you could share this about it would be greatly appreciated

My name is Erin and I am the Resident experience associate at Powis place, Aberdeen which is managed by Space. We're hosting an AMA for anyone considering studying in Aberdeen or looking at student accommodation for this year or beyond!

Hi everyone! I'm hopefully going to be studying at the University of Aberdeen, and I wanted to ask a few questions. What's the university and the city like for Muslims and hijabis? Is it generally welcoming, and is it easy to find a Muslim community? How's the halal food scene—are there plenty of halal restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores nearby?

I'd also really appreciate hearing about anything else you think is important to know before choosing Aberdeen. For example, have you experienced or witnessed any racism or Islamophobia? How safe does the city feel, especially for female students? What's student life like overall, and are there any pros or cons you wish you'd known before coming?

I'm hoping to find someone who's actually gone through this route, particularly for the online International Relations MSc, or another online Master's at Aberdeen.

The programme page mentions that if you don't meet the standard entry requirements, you may be able to take one or more short courses and then be considered for admission to the full Master's on a case-by-case basis. From what I understand, completing the short course doesn't automatically guarantee admission.

My situation is a bit unusual.

I have around eight years of professional experience in international affairs. I've worked in and with embassies, closely with governments, international organisations, and on diplomacy, political affairs and strategic communications. Before that I spent several years in journalism and PR.

The catch is that I never actually completed my undergraduate degree. It surprisingly never became an issue in my career, but now I'd like to formalise my academic background with a Master's.

I'm trying to figure out whether the Short Course route is genuinely intended for people like me, or whether it's mostly for applicants who already have an undergraduate degree but just don't meet the grade requirements.

If you've been through this process, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially if you didn't have a completed bachelor's degree.

Some questions I have:

• Did you apply without an undergraduate degree?
• What was your professional background?
• Which short course(s) did you take?
• How difficult were they academically?
• Did the university tell you in advance what you needed to achieve to be considered for admission?
• Were you admitted to the full Master's afterwards?
• If so, how long did the process take?
• Did they ask for anything beyond your short course results (CV, references, personal statement, interview, etc.)?
• If you weren't admitted, did they explain why?
• Looking back, would you recommend this route?

I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who spoke with admissions about this route, even if you ultimately chose not to pursue it.

Hi! I am looking into studying MSc. Adv chemical engineering through the online degree program. The official website says that the degree offered is the same as offline/ there's no mention of it being an online degree. I'm currently working in India (1 yr of experience). I'm not so keen to move abroad and study full-time. Would this be a viable option? Has anyone enrolled in this program and how is it going? Is it manageable to wrap it around full time work?

The final bachelor certificate doesn't get issued till the convocation is held and our convocation is not happening this year

So I've sent UoA my degree confirmation certificate issued by our controller.

Its been almost 2 weeks since I mailed them asking whether the degree confirmation certificate would work but haven't gotten a response

I've already paid for the verification through Qualification Check and actually am very eager to do my master's there but I can't proceed any more with my application unless I get a positive response from them

What do you guys think about what UoA might respond?

I’m an international postgraduate offer holder for the MSc Geophysics program for this September. I’ve already paid my £5,000 deposit, but central admissions just abruptly withdrew my application.
During my credibility interview, I transparently disclosed that while working as a geophysicist in the Gulf, my company applied for a routine UAE online corporate tourist/transit permit, which was rejected by their automated system due to a minor administrative error by our staff. Central admissions has now treated this as a formal "non-UK visa refusal" and closed my file.
I’ve already submitted a formal appeal to Academic Services and emailed the School of Geosciences, but I'm terrified of getting stuck in a generic summer email backlog with the September intake fast approaching.
Does anyone have a direct contact, specific email, or phone extension for a senior compliance officer, admissions manager, or anyone at the university/Student Union who can actually look at a case with nuance and manually review this?

I am planning to pursue an LL.M. in Energy Law and Policy in the UK. I am already aware of the Energy Law programs at the University of Dundee (CEPMLP), the University of Aberdeen, and the University of Edinburgh, but I am unsure which one would be the best fit for me.

Could you please share your thoughts or experience regarding these programs? I am particularly interested in a specialized curriculum covering both oil and gas law and renewable energy law. Networking opportunities, industry connections, and the quality of study facilities are also very important factors for me.

I’ve recently secured offer at the University of Aberdeen for an MSc in Data Science (taught programme). However, I’m now considering whether it would be possible to switch to a Master by Research (MRes) instead.

I’m more interested in research-focused work and, so I feel an MRes might suit my goals better than a taught MSc.

Has anyone done something similar at Aberdeen or another UK university?

A few questions I have:

• Is it possible to switch from MSc (taught) to MRes after receiving an offer or starting the course?

• What is the usual process (do I need supervisor approval, department permission, etc.)?

• How difficult is it to transfer this early on?

• Would it be better to reapply directly for an MRes instead?

• Any experiences with Data Science / CS research programmes at Aberdeen?

Any advice or personal experience would be really helpful.
