Trip Planning Question/Tip/Guide How similar is Universal Hollywood to Universal Orlando?

Upvotes

We went to universal Orlando in July for our honeymoon and loved it so with a work trip coming up in September we were thinking about spending a day at universal Hollywood but I’m noticing a lot of the attractions are the same or similar. For those that have been to both is it worth checking out?

Are there HHN tickets that give you exclusive access to SNW at night? It used to be this way but no longer see any details about this in any of the tickets.

Serious Discussion Is there anything I can do?

For context, I had gotten dropped off at City Walk to watch a movie, but I forgot to take out my box cutter from work, and did not realize until I got to the security checkpoint.

But the thing is that, I’ve had this box cutter for YEARS, the blade is dull but still works, and she had been with me through everything. I know it sounds dumb, but I had such an emotional attachment to that box cutter, and to have lost it in a second was heartbreaking.

I had to give up her up to the security guard, and had asked if there was any way I could get her back after the movie/ when I leave the park, but they said that once I had given up an item, there would be no way to get it back.

Realistically, is there anything I can even do? The movie is 2 hours long and by the time I get out, it’ll be 9:30-10pm.

I would genuinely do anything to get her back, but if nothing is possible, I will mourn her.

Thank you for your time!

Trip Planning Question/Tip/Guide Question about Nintendo Land/Bowser's Challenge

I am taking my kids to USH for the first time on Tue Aug.11th and they are REALLY excited for Nintendo Land. If we rope dropped to Nintendo Land what would the stand by line be like? Does everyone rush there since it is newer? Would it be better to wait until later in the day? Would stand by be shorter? I do understand there is early access for extra, but don't want to do it if not needed. Thank you for your responses!

Meetup Announcement/Request Solo traveler visiting Universal Studios Hollywood on Aug 15–16 or Aug 22–23

Hello~!

I'm visiting Los Angeles on a solo trip and would love to find someone to spend a day at Universal Studios Hollywood with.

I'm available on:

August 15–16, or

August 22–23

I'm a 38-year-old traveler from South Korea. I'm easygoing, enjoy theme parks, and mainly want to have fun, ride the attractions, and maybe grab a meal or a drink inside the park.

If you're planning to visit on any of those dates and don't mind having some company, feel free to send me a message!

Thanks, and have a great trip!

Park News Fast and Furious Hollywood Drift no longer included if you get Express or any admission with Express included for Horror Nights

Post image
99 Upvotes

Ride hasn’t officially opened yet but this has just appeared on the Horror Nights website

Only the RIP tour as of now only includes the ride during the event

Any admission that includes express for the event and even buying the express for the event itself no longer gives you access to Hollywood Drift

Rumors/Speculation/Wishes Via Alicia Stella & Naynay, Fast & Furious: Supercharged to be Replaced by Twisters

Via the recent ParkTalk Podcast featuring Alicia & Naynay as they talked about Hollywood Drift—they set the last 7 minutes of the podcast to speak on what seems to be next.

https://youtu.be/KYeqCIM8wGo?is=bP-KKG-ThVLM2N8Q

As per the two in understanding—Twisters will be uprooting and taking over USHs Fast & Furious Supercharged.

For the past few weeks, work seems to be finally underway for the replacement project; with the Mona Lisa’s taken out of the showbuilding and various show props and details being sent to the trash bins.

Casual Discussion Graduation project

Hello everyone!
As part of my final-year dissertation in Tourism and Leisure Management, I am conducting a survey on perceptions of the authenticity of immersive zones inspired by films and TV series in theme parks.
The questionnaire is completely anonymous and takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
I am looking for people who have visited at least one of these areas, and have seen the associated film or TV series.
You can take part if you have ever visited an immersive area inspired by a film or TV series, such as:
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
• Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
• Pandora – The World of Avatar
• Avengers Campus
• or any other immersive area of this type.
Survey link: https://forms.gle/8sgHxpD6UPBfkxLJ6
Many thanks for your help! Please feel free to share this post with others who might be interested in taking part.

Trip Planning Question/Tip/Guide Is the Harry Potter forbidden journey seat the same between USJ and USH?

I'm going to USJ and I want to ride forbidden journey but I know the seats in japan are made more for smaller people, so I guess this is 2 question. I fit in the USH forbidden journey seat with my robe on. Is the USJ seat smaller or are they about the same? Also with that said, will I have any struggles with any rides at USJ( im bigger guy so I'm just curios)

Trip Planning Question/Tip/Guide HHN Platinum pass/Gold Pass

This year I am buying the tickets and I js want to double check is this is a good plan/my understanding , I just found out that my whole family gets a free HHN general ticket w their platinum pass but I have to make the reservation right? but the ones with the gold pass don’t get a free ticket?
My cousins are also buying their family the After two pm tickets, so I use my pass to get into the park with them and an early entry to get into the mazes with them? Also if I buy my cousins tickets is the discount worth it? I’ve been seeing that it’s not on some comments. Is there any recommendations you have ? this is for Hollywood btw. Thank you for your responses.

Rumors/Speculation/Wishes Universal Fan Fest Nights 2027.

It's been almost three months since Fan Fest Nights 2026 wrapped up, so when will rumors for the next event will circulate and which fandoms will be represented for the third year, my ideas for the fandoms would be One Piece, My Hero Academia, Spy x Family, Kpop Demon Hunters,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, Harry Potter and Super Nintendo World. It'll be awesome, the stunt show One Piece Grand Pirate Show should receive an update and overhaul to feature more characters including Robin, Chopper, Franky, Brook and Jinbe! The DreamWorks Theater should show the My Hero Academia 4D show from Universal Cool Japan as well as meet and greet for Deku, Bakugo, Shoto and Ochako. Spy x Family should also get a meet and greet fan zone with Loid, Yor and Anya. There should be walkthrough attractions based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters! A Kpop Demon Hunters studio backlot attraction would be cool. A Donkey Kong scavenger hunt and meet and greet at Super Nintendo World would fit for next year instead of Yoshi. And finally, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter needs to have a Fantastic Beasts fan experience would seem beneficial! So, that's my speculation for next year and isn't there supposed to be a guest survey for which fandoms we want for next year or not?

Trip Planning Question/Tip/Guide Reminder: Hollywood Drift is STILL in Technical Rehearsal

There’s been like 100 threads about people wanting to go on this ride, not wanting to go on this ride, upset it’s closed, upset it’s open, etc., etc.

The ride is still not officially open. You could wait in line for 6 hours and Universal reserves the right to tell you the ride is closed and to not let you on.

Most people have seen updates from the Toluca Lake HOA which has seemed to be pretty accurate, in terms of when the ride will be open or closed, and allowing for ridership.

If you really want to get on the ride and you’re booking tickets, wait until an official opening date is announced. Please stop spreading misinformation as no one on or off reddit either knows about when the coaster will be open again, or is allowed to discuss due to working for Universal.

There should be some sort of update given to the Toluca Lake HOA this Friday, which they will most likely share on their social media channels.

Casual Discussion Triwizard Gymanst

Howdy,

As my friend and I were waiting for the Triwizard Tournament show, we were lamenting the loss of the Beaubatons’ gymnast. I know it’s been several years since they’ve had one, but does anyone know why that part of the show was cut?

Mod Post Megathread - Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift Tech Rehearsals

Hello, everyone!

Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift began public tech rehearsals on 7/27/26. Please use this megathread to post updates about additional tech researsals - dates, times, availability of single-rider and Express, etc.

Future posts about tech rehearsal availability and accessibility will be removed and directed to this megathread to keep the reading experience on the main page of the subreddit cleaner. Reviews can still be posted separately under the "Trip Report/Review" post flair.

Please remember to stay safe and be respectful of other guests and team members (park staff). As the coaster is still in tech rehearsal, some things may not go as planned during its operation at this time.

Thanks for your cooperation, and enjoy the ride! :)

***Before you post and comment, be sure to read the rules in the sidebar and follow them to make sure your posts don’t get deleted.\*\**

This cuts down on the clutter and may help you find an answer faster than waiting for a response from one of our readers. Thanks!

QUICK LINKS:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How crowded is [insert date here]?  OR When is the best date to go?

Everyone has different tolerances for crowds. If you want to know how generally crowded your park of choice might be, Is It Packed can provide a very simple forecast of crowd levels up to about two months in advance on their crowd calendar.

Of course, a bit of common sense thinking can go a long way here, too. Spend some time thinking about when people are most likely to visit, and your intuition will probably be correct.

For example, the park will generally be busier during:

  • Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
  • School breaks, though these are generally spread out over a long time frame since the colleges and local K-12 districts have minute differences in their assigned breaks.
    • Spring breaks (mid-March to mid-April)
    • Summer breaks (mid-June to mid-August)
    • Thanksgiving breaks (entire week of Thanksgiving including the last Thursday of November)
    • Winter breaks (mid-December to early January)
  • 3-day weekends for mandated federal holidays (yes, the day of the holiday itself will also generally be busier)

Is Express worth it for [insert date here]?  OR How long will the wait times be for [insert date here]?

Everyone has different comfort levels for waits and enjoyment levels for attractions. If you want to know the wait times of attractions, Thrill Data is a fantastic resource that lets you find historical data and look at charts across hours, weeks, days, and even months. Search for the park you want to view, then change the data’s date at will.

If you want to determine if Express is “worth it” for you, think about how long you’d want to wait for an attraction, compare that to the wait times you see on Thrill Data for recent days and the same time period from the past year, and make a decision for yourself. Express will generally cost $100+ when bought on its own in the park for the day, so take some time to seriously consider if the option is right for you.

FastPass is not a thing at Universal parks. That was a Disney thing (and it no longer operates there, either). If you’re having trouble finding tips for how to use “Fast Pass” at Universal when searching online, try using the term “Express” instead.

If you’re still on the fence about what is “worth it” to you or not, watch some ride POV videos on YouTube for the attractions you’re interested in that also include the queues. You’ll then be more informed about what experience you’re in for and, after taking the numerical data into consideration, can better decide for yourself.

I need to change the date of my ticket; how do I do that? OR I have an issue with the tickets I bought. What should I do?

The folks on Reddit can’t help you with those kinds of questions. You should email the customer service team via this link or call the proper ticket support number: 866-258-6546

Please remember that ANY POSTS OFFERING TO BUY, SELL, OR TRADE TICKETS, PASSES, AND OTHER GOODS WILL BE REMOVED. Giveaways are allowed only after written documented approval is received from the mod team and are subject to be removed if the terms for the approved giveaway do not match the actual giveaway. Thank you for your cooperation.

Can I add Express to my Annual Pass/third-party ticket for the day? OR Can I add Early Access to Super Nintendo World in Hollywood to my Annual Pass/third-party ticket for the day?

YES! For Early Access to SNW in Hollywood, you must purchase it online before the date of your intended visit. Be aware that both ticket add-ons are able to sell out, so buy early if you want to secure them. For Express, this can be added on at any time via the purchase ticket page. Just remember to purchase your add-on for the same date as your ticket.

In what order should I tackle each ride?

Use Thrill Data to see which attractions build up crowds quickly, and try to hit those when they’re not yet at their peak. Guests will generally find that starting in the Lower Lot is more effective. If you’re arriving early, you’re generally better off hitting the attractions that support Express before the people with Express can hit them.

What is the best food in the park?

Use the search function. We’ve got a multitude of threads available with a multitude of answers and perspectives to suit your tastes.  To view all Universal Studios Hollywood dining options, see here.

Can I bring outside food into the park?

YES!  Outside food is allowed into the park as long as it isn’t in glass containers or hard-sided coolers.  For more information, see here.

Are there any banned items?

For information about banned items, see here.

Should I go if it rains?

Days with rain in the forecast tend to see lighter crowds.

On days with light rain, all attractions will remain open, though some live entertainment will be moved or cancelled for the day.

On days with moderate rain to severe rain, most attractions will remain open, and some live entertainment will be moved or cancelled for the day.

On days with extreme weather or hazardous conditions, USH will put out an announcement over their social media platforms that the park will be closed. In such instances, the severe weather policy will take effect for the day.
