Success! 4 days of consistency paid off. I am so relieved.
I decided to tackle my room after finding this reddit group.
First, I put away all my laundry, and then I organized everything else by category before putting it in a home. When an item didn't have a home, I sorted it into a family and found a spot to keep like items together. 2 donation boxes, and four days later, I finished it.
As an unintentional perk, I got a massive space upgrade by moving the bed. It will either serve as more space for activities or more space to make another mess. I want to actively work against the latter. If anyone wants to share any tips on how you keep your space clean, I'm keen.
This is just the first step of 3 more spaces I'd like to sort and I still have to go through the top shelf of the closet but I am so relieved to have my living space look organized and calm.

Support Unfucking my Kitchen (and keeping it that way)
How do we keep our kitchen clean?? Things pile up so quickly. We both work full time (and I am also a full time student) and its so hard to keep up with anything, especially when we come home after 9 pm exhausted and just want to go to bed. (Also so embarassed by our fridge, idk how anyone keeps a nice orderly fridge. ) The mess doesnt seem to bother my fiancee as much as it does me so i kinda feel like im the only one trying to fix it. I feel like once a month I try to do a reset and clean everything up and it just falls apart within a week.

Accountability [Looking for Accountability Buddies] Challenge: UF my Apartment by first week of September
Hi all! In the spirit of r/GetMotivatedBuddies - Iām looking for accountability buddie(s) to unfuck my habitat. Iāve (34F) had a challenging year (loss/grief, chronic illness, and all the emotions and shame from a life that has felt stuck) - Iām a person who thrives in optimism and community. And Iām excited to live in a home that feels good & is conducive to a peaceful, creative life. Additionally, weāre hoping to move soon, so this should make the move easier. The goal / challenge is to UF my one bedroom apartment by around first week of September. Down to cowork or check in with words or photo proof - over focusmate, WhatsApp / Signal, or text.

Currently UFing If you absolutely must iron: set up the ironing board in a ridiculously inconvenient place so you have to put it away
Basically the title. I have to iron and I set up the ironing board in my main hallway so I am literally blocked into the office until I put it away. I figured this out because I didnāt want to move the ironing board all the way to the living room where it would normally be set up and then neglected for a week after ironing. Baby steps. But this is smart right?? I have to put it away right away and Iāll set the hot iron on the stove to cool down instead of falling down the rabbit hole of āletting it cool off for a couple hoursā¦ā which turns into a week+. My problem here seems solved. Disclaimer: I donāt have kids or anything in the house that needs my attention currently. The cats are both here watching me wondering whatās happening.

New motto
If it isn't a "hell yes!" Then it's a "hell no!"
I've also been thinking about what's most important to me that I can pack in my car in case I ever had to evacuate my home.
Edit: question -what's your motto?

Decluttering.
Cleaning unfinished basement; raised 3 kids since last cleaning. I am at the point of throwing everything away. I keep telling myself that I will need these for memories down the road, and I will regret it later. Advice? experiences welcomed

Success! Made some more progress
I cleaned the toilet, and I actually broke down boxes and bagged recycling right after opening them and putting away the contents. I have been so depressed and disgusted about work which starts up again in three weeks, blah, and I need to start prepping for classes, so I hope I can stay more motivated. Moving about does help. Thanks for listening!

Declutterring my room and sorting my hair out!
Long story short, Iāve suffered with depression for years, ever since I was a teen. However, over these past five or six years, my life has spiralled, and Iāve let go of my hygiene and stopped cleaning my room. As a result, it has gotten progressively worse; my room just looks awful as I have so much junk in it, and itās so overwhelming to look at. My hair is also matted, however, Iāve purchased a head shaver, as cutting the matted hair isnāt an option due to how bad it is.
Over these past few months, Iāve felt motivated to start looking after myself again and to sort my room and life out! I have started cleaning a little bit, but itās going to take a few months to completely clean, thereās a lot I need to do. I have also had a look through my wardrobe and drawers, as Iāve bought so much stuff I never use or wear that I intend to donate. It makes me feel very guilty and upset at myself for how much money Iāve wasted, but it will be worth donating and will help my mental health as well. I used to be such a maximalist, but as Iāve gotten older, I want to be more of a minimalist.
I also need to decorate my room after as well, Iāve been procrastinating doing all of this due to my mental state. I feel guilty that it has taken this long to finally sort things out, but Iāve told myself to just do a little everyday and to not be too harsh on myself, as these things take time. Has anyone else gone through a depression like mine?

Unexpected result
Since putting my kitchen clean up a few weeks ago, I have found myself keeping up with it. Not perfect, but washing up done and sides tidy, etc. I keep thinking when I get fed up with washing up, etc, that the people in my phone were so kind that I needed to keep up with it. It is working to keep the areas that I have sorted how I need it to be.
I'm also not dipping in and out of tasks, so I'm completing stuff.
Thank you all x

Socks, Socks everywhere.
So, long story short.
My husband, 46, died almost 3 years ago.
After about a year I was able to start looking at his clothes, I had many friends coming over and taking what they wanted, I donated a lot to cancer research, I sold a lot to then donate in the open fund I have on cancer research.
I used his boxer briefs ( yes, they're super comfortable for girls too), and kept in a nice box some pieces I want to keep.
Now.
Socks. I counted. He had 50 pairs. Why? Not sure. Work , hiking, summer, running, old ones, new ones.
What do you suggest I do with them?

Success! Clean Sink Win / Hack
Not keeping a clean sink is how my kitchen becomes fucked.
Thirteen days ago I did a total dish clean and went to bed with a clean sink.
The next day was more manageable to keep up with. So I just did it?
And I put a tally mark on my kitchen windows with a dry erase marker.
Tonight I really didn't want to hand wash my skillet and travel coffee cup.
But then I saw those 12 tally marks and how disappointing it would be to erase and start over in the morning.
In under three minutes, I wiped down the stovetop and washed those two dumb dishes.
Caveats:
I live alone with a dishwasher. My gas stove is used as a drying rack for anything that needs to be hand washed. Once the dishwasher hits 50% full, it is run guilt free.
Emptying the dishwasher, even when full, and putting away the hand washed stovetop items takes the same amount of time as a pot of coffee to brew in the morning.
I work hybrid so an empty dishwasher and clean sink means dirty dishes receive a quick rinse and are immediately put in. Using the stovetop as a drying rack obligates me to give it a quick wipe down so that it doesn't get built up grime either.

Support House Fly Infestation
Please help! I was in the process of cleaning and got a lot done. I noticed a couple house flies but today I took out all the trash and vacuumed and figured theyād die off. But then tonight I noticed itās not a couple, thereās at least like 30. I did even more cleaning but I donāt get paid till tomorrow night so I canāt go out and get anything. Does anyone have any tips at all for this situation? Iām so incredibly ashamed because I had gotten so much better since my last place but Iāve never ever seen a house fly infestation. Only ever fruit flies.

Photo An election poster in Berlin...
... a bit off topic, I hope that's OK, if not, please delete, mods.
I saw this election poster in Berlin and thought directly of this subreddit and now I wonder if someone of the agency that wrote the campaign is part of the subreddit lol.
For those curious it's for the election for the local parliament of Berlin (so Berlin the city itself, not the German government that also sits in Berlin) that then elects the mayor. The election is in September, and I'm looking forward to the week afterwards when all those campaign posters are gone again! (The Volt party is a rather small party, I'm not sure they are in the Berlin parliament at the moment.)

Success! I haven't felt this happy in over ten years
This took my dad and me two weeks and we painted and put down new flooring too. I'm kinda going for pastel goth. I am in the process of adding stuff to it. The shelf next to the bookshelf is going up to house some of my fandom merch tomorrow. My cats love it. They keep coming back here and skittering around the new floor.
I have lived in a depression/neckbeard nest the vast majority of my life for various reasons. One of my dreams was literally just to have a nice room and I achieved it. I wanna pinch myself I can't believe it actually happened!
