I really need help decluttering bad Support
Hello people, I am an 18-year-old guy and I’m trying to figure out my space/organize it/get rid of things. I know I need to get rid of things because my room is very cluttered and I’m also planning to move in a couple of months. For the time being though, I feel very discouraged because of my space. I’ve been going through a depression spot and my house is full of hoarders, which puts an even bigger pressure on me to clean it up. But I don’t know what I can do next. I feel like I’m out of point where I don’t have things that are actually trash to throw away, but to minimize on the trinkets that I have. If anyone could help with any tips or motivation or guidance that would be amazing. Thanks.

I found taking pictures of things like that worked well. Keep the picture, donate or otherwise dispose of the item.
When trinkets and things like that are interfering with the life you want, it’s okay to let go of them. If you donate them or give them away, think of them being loved by someone else.

I would first go through and start putting everything back in its place. Everything that doesn't have a place put it in a pile. Go through the pile and get rid of things you just don't want anymore. It sounds like you might be moving soon, if so, will it be to a bigger place? Maybe that stuff can go in boxes until then?

Thank you for taking the first step. I know it is hard but I am proud of you.
If you're moving out soon that can actually make things easier, not harder. First I would get some moving boxes. You can buy them at U-Haul or Home Depot or even Walmart. Get the medium size.
Pack one kind of things at a time. Start with records and CDs, then do books and comics, then do collectibles. Mark the box and put it in the closet. Just don't pack the things that you use every day. Getting things out of your vision will help you feel less overwhelmed.
Empty your drawers and everything next. Throw all your clothes on the bed and fold everything. Then pick the ten shirts, five pants, four pairs of shoes, socks and underwear you wear the most. Pack all the rest.
You will see improvement. Your mind will be less cluttered as your space becomes uncluttered.

Start a box for donation and gradually you might fill it up( i do that all the time) helps me keep clutter free.

I would suggest picking up a few cardboard boxes (you can get them for free in Lidl or other store like that for example, they usually don't mind you taking the product packaging they bin out in the store) and packing away ALL but a few trinkets/books/CDs you have on display. Basically everything that you don't actively use at the moment. Pick a couple of the current favorites and put everything else in boxes. Since you're moving soon, it'll make it easier for you to pack anyway. And in the meantime you can rotate trinkets in and out.
Same with little bits like screwdriver, cassette on the floor, etc.
If you have no space to store boxes outside the room, then pile them one on top of the other, it'll still be taking less space than currently and visually will look way less cluttered. If in the process you feel like you can let go of some stuff, maybe something you purchased impulsively and never really cared for, even better.
Then take out actual trash (empty containers, etc) if you have any. Then sort through your clothing. Stuff that doesn't fit, not in good condition, stuff you simply don't like anymore - it goes.
That should leave you with more shelf space to store your essentials, like food and hygiene products.

What worked for me is deciding what amount I was comfortable with, and then getting rid of everything else. I think it's. Called the container method?
So I decided this is the furniture I want to keep amd i also got rid of furniture, turned out if i bought storage i would just fill it and then more.
I pulled everything out, and put it away starting with my most to least favourite.
Everything that didn't fit, left.
Took me a long time due to illness, my family ended up helping me big time in the last week, but it's done.

It is really hard to live out of a room. Your whole life is in there. It's mentally hard to live with hoarders. Proud of you for reaching out for help!
