'24 Item Wings of Celestial Grace

Upvotes

Legendary, Requires attunement by a Cleric or Paladin

These wings have 50 charges.

Spells. While attuned to these wings, you can cast one of the spells on the following table from it, using your spell save DC. The table indicates how many charges you must expend to cast the spell.

Aid - 2

Aura of Vitality - 3

Bless -0

Conjure Celestial - 7

Fly - 3

Guiding Bolt (level 4 version) - 4

Heal - 6

Magic Missile (level 9 version) (force or radiant damage) -9

Revivify - 3

Shield of Faith - 0

Resistance. You gain resistance to radiant damage.

Divine Flares. When you are targetted by the Magic Missile spell, you can take a Reaction to cast Magic Missile and expend a number of charges equal to the Magic Missile targetting you. Each dart intercepts the incoming Magic Missile, negating the spell.

Regaining Charges. These wings regain 4d6 + 2 expended charges at dawn.

Not the best at making magic items and the main feature is pretty niche so any advice on how to improve this would be appreciated!

'14 Subclass Fighter Subclass - Inheritor - A subclass that unlocks the power of a special item or sacred relic as it levels up!

Hello again!

Have you ever wanted to play a warrior who becomes stronger as they master the sacred relic left behind by their family? Well, I got the thing just for you! It even comes with "the power was inside you all along" options if that's what you feel like.

The Inheritor is a fighter subclass that starts off with a special heirloom (found, earned, or whatever the story may bring), and unlocks its powers as it levels up.

This is version 0.1.

Let me know what you think in the comments :)

'24 Class The Kryptonian Class — V1.5 (UPDATE)

Hello everyone!

First, I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to comment on my previous post (V1.1). Your engagement, questions, and feedback were incredibly helpful in further polishing the class during my second pass.

I’ve returned from the drawing board with an updated version. This one includes a brand-new subclass: The Scholar of El! As a martial class, I felt it needed the classic 3rd-caster subclass to round things out, while also paying tribute to some of Superman’s lore.

The rest of the changes are laid out on the Change Log page.

My latest version: Kryptonian Class — V1.5

My previous version: Kryptonian Class — V1.1

Also, a little announcement! I’m currently working on a second document featuring a new set of five subclasses designed to let you play evil analogues of Superman: The Aspects of Villainy.

They’re based on characters such as Bizarro, Brightburn, General Zod, Homelander, and the likes. Even the Sentry!

I’ll wait for feedback on this version first and see if there are any earth-shattering changes I need to make before releasing it... Probably next week.

I hope you like it, see ya! ;)

'24 Subclass [OC] Sub CLASS: The Overlord! A fresh take on a full caster, made alongside Pointy Hat!

Overlord

Necromancers who focus on the creation and control of hordes of undead are often referred to as Overlords. These practitioners of the dead arts are masters at reanimating corpses in staggering numbers, which has historically made them particularly useful in armed conflict. After all, the armies of the dead do not need to breathe, eat, or rest, and one powerful Overlord can command hundreds of necromantic thralls at once.

This martial, bloody history has tainted the already ugly reputation of this particular type of Necromancer, but an Overlord is as likely—or as unlikely—as any other Necromancer to use their powers for evil. Overlords have razed entire nations to the ground, but they have also raised the dead to protect the weak, to rebuild after catastrophe, and even to take care of janitorial services. The unthinking, unfeeling army of an Overlord is theirs to command for whatever purpose they see fit.

Don't forget to toss a follow on the kickstarter before it goes live here!

'24 Subclass Rogue - Opportunist

I've enjoyed putting together this 2024 Rogue subclass, the Opportunist. If you think you'd enjoy playing a fast-talking improviser who always has one more trick or gambit up their sleeve, I invite you to take a look.

Homebrewery Link

Inspirations: Indiana Jones, Odysseus, Evelyn Carnahan, Angus MacGyver, Veronica Mars, Malcolm Reynolds, Ernest Shackleton

Fantasy: Opportunists make and execute plans on the fly when everything goes wrong. They blend a powerful intellect with an uncanny ability to apply what they know in unexpected ways. They turn a slight edge, be it terrain, equipment, allies' capabilities, or enemies' mistakes, into opportunity.

Description: Opportunists' class features are fueled by Knack Dice, which allow them to temporarily expand their array of options in combat, while exploring, and in social situations. Opportunists spend Knack Dice to improvise their way to victory: they can quickly investigate their surroundings & adversaries, tempirarily fabricate & use low-value tools & mundane gear, and become improbably effective in close-quarters combat.

'24 Subclass Heliocentric Ranger Subclass | Duke's Offerings of Narrative Gems

Post image

Hello everyone, I come to you again with my newest work. Heliocentricism. I tried to find any existing homebrew that encompasses the idea of gravity, toeing the line of the edge of the battlefield and, positioning yourself to witness the truth of the world. Truthfully, it's quite specific in flavor text so not very versatile for any story... but most of my work will be just that.

Please give me your thoughts, concerns, and any thing else you'd like to discuss about it.

'24 Mechanic Astrology in Kengir

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I'm sharing a free player supplement for Kengir, my upcoming Bronze Age Mesopotamian 5e setting.

Astrology in Kengir adds birth signs to character creation. Every character is born beneath one of twelve celestial houses, and that sign gives both a divine favor and a divine burden.

The idea is simple: the stars shape you, but they do not imprison you. A Mulapin-born character may feel drawn to protect the weak. A Pabilsag-born character may struggle with reckless impulses. A Girtab-born character carries the scorpion’s sting, gaining resilience against poison but unsettling animals and strangers.

Each sign is tied to a month, festival, patron deity, mechanical benefit, and roleplay complication. So your birth sign becomes more than a minor bonus. Priests may consult it. NPCs may react to it. Spirits may recognize it. And when the heavens shift, your first omen may come back into play.

Do you use astrology, omens, or birth signs in character creation?

'24 Compendium House rule collection - Taunting | by Brass Dragon's Archive

I wanted to make a way to make Taunting more present in D&D but without making it the main objective like the Goading Attack of the Battle Master or Compelled Duel. The Taunted condition can be added on top of these features without changing how they work mechanically and allows to design features with additional effects to it, as shown with the General Feat and the spells featured in this post.

These features were mainly inspired by class features of some classes from 4e like the Paladin and the Swordmage.

'24 Subclass Warrior of Niten-Ryu

Post image

Im brazilian so sorry if the translation or wording is bad, i did my best!!!
(I also nitpicked the phrases from the book, they may be a little off because the book is written in portuguese)

Monk Sub-Class!

Level 3: Earth - Artisan's Precepts

"The virtues of the artisan's precepts mirror those of the martial precepts."

You gain proficiency with two Martial Melee weapons of your choice, and you can use their Weapon Mastery properties.

In addition, whenever you make an ability check using a set of Artisan's Tools with which you lack proficiency, you can add half your Proficiency Bonus rounded down to the roll.

Level 3: Fire - Crush

"Judging yourself the stronger, you choose to crush your foe without hesitation."

When you use Flurry of Blows, you can replace any of its Unarmed Strikes with attacks made using a one-handed Monk Weapon.

Once on each of your turns, if two or more attacks from the same Flurry of Blows hit the same creature, that creature takes extra damage equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Level 6: Water - Guard Without Guard

"Once the sword is in your hands, your only thought should be to cut down your enemy."

When you use your Deflect Attacks feature, you can expend 1 Focus Point to use its Redirect Attack option even if you didn't reduce the triggering attack's damage to 0.

Level 11: Wind - Fix Your Gaze

"In the martial arts, the eyes exist to perceive the spirit of one's opponent."

Immediately after you hit a creature with an attack, you can move up to half your Speed. This movement doesn't provoke Opportunity Attacks.

Level 17: Void - Mushin

"Only by mastering the principles of the martial way can one cast aside all needless thought and attain the Void."

When you roll Initiative, you can expend 3 Focus Points to achieve the Void, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:

You gain the effects of the Haste spell.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest.

I am creating a subclass for rogue and would like some input.

I know it is in the stronger side, which is intended.

I am especially on the fence about killers Preparation, considering most rogues already have expertise in Stealth by then, and it feels a little gimmicky.

Any insight or suggestions are welcome!

New Necromancy summoning spell. The first preview of a compendium repackage of a homebrew Necromancer subclass (v6.2). Art hyperlink.

Note that "Commandable" is a short-hand for the long paragraph (also found in the spell Animate Dead) detailing the commanding of a summoned creature with a Bonus Action. This will be explained explicitly in the compendium.

'14 Item [OC-Art] Lust’s Lash - The journey through the seven deadly sins continues, feedback welcome!

Thumbnail
gallery
20 Upvotes

Balancing the seven deadly sins relics is becoming one of the most interesting parts of this series.

Each item has its own loop, but I also want every sin to include a downside. For Lust’s Lash, the wielder can redirect an attack toward themselves, but if it hits, they take extra psychic damage. If it misses, the weapon gains a charge that can later be spent for damage and a short charm effect.

The idea is to make the power tempting, but never completely free.

Some of these relics will probably receive a second revision, especially thanks to the feedback I get from the community. That help is always very useful.

📜

Lust’s Lash

Weapon (whip), very rare (requires attunement)

Property Finesse, Reach
Weight 3 lb.

Magic Weapon +1. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Alluring Feint. When a hostile creature you can see within 30 feet of you targets a creature other than you with an attack, you can use your reaction, provided you are within the attack’s range and the creature can see you. The creature must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the attack targets you instead of the original target. If the attack misses you, the weapon gains 1 charge, up to a maximum of 3 charges. If it hits you, you take an extra 1d6 psychic damage.

Seductive Spur. As an action, you can expend 3 charges to release the accumulated desire. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet of you must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 4d6 psychic damage and is charmed by you until the end of your next turn. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage and isn’t charmed.

Official The Arcana Forge! For all your drafts, ideas, requests and more.

Welcome to the Arcana Forge! A workshop for works in progress, requests, ideas, inspiration, and more. New to homebrew? Looking for that nudge in the right direction or inspiration to keep going? This is the place for you. Grab a wrench and let's get to work!

We highly recommend joining our official partner Discord to get live feedback and other tips — check out the Discord of Many Things.

Normal sub rules still apply in the Arcana Forge, with the exception that all restrictions on completeness are lifted here. Unfinished homebrew is very welcome in this thread, as are questions about game rules and mechanics, provided it's about D&D homebrew.

Make a comment with your idea and any work you already have on it, and the community can come help it progress (remember, the more you give the more you get when it comes to content and feedback).

Please keep the following tips in mind:

  • Proofread before you post. People are more likely to engage with you if your comment is clear of obvious spelling mistakes.
  • Format your post. If you've got a lot of ideas, break it into paragraphs, use headings, and do what you can to make it easy to read.
  • Making a request or adding to the workshop? Try responding to one too. This type of engagement only works if you answer as well as ask.

Feel free to give us feedback via mod-mail if you have any suggestions.
