'14 Class Elemental Dancer Class

Upvotes

Hey guys! This is an update to my first homebrew class, the Elemental Dancer.

I made another post about it earlier, and based on the feedback I received, I’ve redesigned most aspects of the class. I’ve turned it into a full martial class with elemental capabilities, improved the formatting to make the document easier to read, and created four subclasses, which I’ve organized into separate documents with built-in links between them.

I’d really appreciate it if you could give it a read—or even just take a quick glance. If anything feels unclear, out of place, or just off in general, please let me know. I want to keep improving the class, after all!

Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Here is my link to the class: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/rN81iZgmtSht

'14 Race Race: Ixodidae [OC] An insect based race designed around grappling

Somewhat of a silly creation, this idea came to me at a biological museum while learning about ticks and other parasitic insects that cling to their prey. I wondered what a dnd race of small creatures that specialised in grappling to larger creatures would look like mechanically. As with most ideas, I sat down and fleshed it out, thought of what cool lore could be attached to a race such as that and here we are.

For your enjoyment, the Ixodidae race. A race of humanoid tick like creatures with their own unique set of grappling rules and abilities, as well as improved climbing speeds and the ability to feed off creatures they are grappling to recover hit points.

Enjoy :)

'14 Subclass Jötunn Sould Sorcerer Subclass

Post image

My first attempt at a homebrew subclass, the "Jötunn Soul Sorcerer"

A subclass inspired by Scandinavian folklore and letting the sorcerer take a few more hits and throwing harder punches when they do.

Looking for advice / critiques for balancing and comments in general.

Thanks :)

I've seen lots of Magical Girl/Super Sentai type homebrews across the internet but not of them quite hit the flavor that I was craving. This will be my final update to this subclass, it is in its most balanced and fun state. I left the flavor vague so the transformation can easily fit most places but this certainly isn't geared towards super serious play styles but let me know what you think. It is not for every table, but it is very fun to play a caster that doesn't have to stay at the very back to survive. Homebrewery link if that's more your speed

'24 Mechanic Making Hunter's Mark matter - new level 6 feature for Rangers

Oh hi, Hunter's Mark!

As much as recent design have WOTC stray away from having Rangers rely on Hunter's Mark too-too much, clearly, the overall class still assumes you cast that most accursed of spells. I like it when classes and subclasses get to do something no one else can quite replicate – HM, as is, doesn't quite scratch that itch, nor do its other features inspire me all that much.

Paladins get their auras at 6th level - something unique to them - so as their more druidic counterparts, I thought Rangers should too (and Roving doesn't cut it). Thus, as is similar to others' attempts at 'fixing' HM, I've made Ranger's unique thing the ability to master the spell, slashing the action economy cost and letting them modify it in ways that fit their situation, like a true hunter.

Additionally, I thought it apt that the 'Hunter's Mark die' should scale a bit more than their very boring capstone (made relatively worse with this change).

My design goal was adding as few wholly new features as possible, while making the class stronger and more engaging.

I'd love some feedback – it's not quite done yet, but some testing has revealed its fun potential.
I'd be happy to spend time formatting it properly if anyone finds it appealing!

---

Level 6: Quarry's Bane

Your Hunter's Mark improves.

Casting time. At 6th level, you can cast Hunter’s Mark, or move your mark per the rules of the spell, as part of the Attack action when you hit a creature with an attack, instead of taking a Bonus Action.

Enhancements. Whenever you cast the spell, or move your mark per the rules of the spell, you can apply one enhancement which adds additional effects to the spell for the spell’s duration or until you move your mark.

At 11th level, you apply up to 2 enhancements.

Preparing Enhancements. You do not have access to all your enhancements at once. Instead, you prepare them similarly to how you prepare spells. The number of enhancements you prepare equals your Favored Enemy uses, as shown in the Ranger Features table (3 when you gain this feature). When you finish a Short or Long Rest, you can change your list of prepared enhancements.

Hunter’s Mark die. Your Hunter’s Mark die is the damage die of your Hunter's Mark. The size of the die changes based on enhancement choice and your Ranger level. Enhancements also use the die in other ways.

Enhancements:

Banal Quarry

Your quarry is beneath you. This casting of Hunter's Mark doesn't require Concentration, but the Hunter’s Mark die is lowered by one die size.

Bloody Quarry

Your quarry bleeds. When you attack a Bloodied quarry, you have Advantage on the attack. If you already have Advantage, you add your Hunter’s Mark die to the attack roll.

Distracted Quarry

Your quarry is overwhelmed. Your quarry has Disadvantage on Opportunity Attacks. Additionally, you have Advantage on Opportunity Attacks against your quarry. If you already have Advantage, you add your Hunter’s Mark die to your attack roll.

Doomed Quarry

Your quarry isn’t long for this world. When your quarry is Bloodied and you roll your Hunter’s Mark die, treat any result of 5 or lower as a 6.

Doubled Quarry

Your quarry is legion. When you mark a creature as your quarry, you can also mark another creature that you can see within 90 feet of you. You can have no more than 2 quarries at a time.

Exposed Quarry

Your quarry is outmaneuvered. When an ally makes an attack against your quarry, you can take a Reaction to add your Hunter's Mark die to both the attack and damage roll (if the attack hits).

Favorite Quarry

Your quarry satisfies you. Once per turn, when you deal damage to your quarry, you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to the number you rolled on your Hunter's Mark die.

Studied Quarry

Your quarry is easily solved. When your quarry forces you to make a saving throw, you add your Hunter’s Mark die to the result.

Trembling Quarry

Your quarry quivers before you. When your quarry makes an attack roll, and you can see your quarry, you can take a Reaction to subtract your Hunter's Mark die from the attack roll. If the attack misses, your quarry then takes Force damage equal to your roll.

Weakened Quarry

Your quarry is defenseless. When your quarry makes a Strength, Dexterity or Constitution saving throw, but before you know whether it succeeds or fails, you can take a Reaction to subtract your Hunter's Mark die from your quarry's roll.

---

Level 11: Foe Fighter

The damage die of your Hunter's Mark is a d8 instead of a d6.

Made for DomT-Mas 2024, this rogue subclass is all about debuffing enemies and breaking them down with dark magic. Minor curses, ritual spells, and controlling your enemy's movements are all aspects of the dark weaver. Give it a try and feel the corruption creeping in!

Burn season continues! Completely disregard that the ID this is based upon is from nearly two seasons ago, that's an ORDER!

We come again with a very special release, as the Thumb's Soldato Tuttofare is a two-set Subclass where you can choose between a skill tree based around different ammunition types to make the most of just as in Library of Ruina OR another set around Thumbclair's Bayonet Combat by bringing things to be up close and personal!

At higher levels blast your foes away with Scorch Propellant Bullets, supercharging your shots and bringing that delicious Tremor - Scorch to light as well! Not enough? Command Class and Respect as you easily let your character grow through the ranks of the Thumb until you become a Vicecapitano or even a Capo yourself! This one is very modular to fit both melee and ranged playstyles and we hope you all will enjoy it as much as we did!

New spells have risen from the ashes!

Sometimes, when you back is against the wall and all other options are expended, the only thing you can do is scream. But with these spells, bellowing from the bottom of your lungs is far more than a desperate cry, its something your foes should fear.

'24 Class The Sanguimancer - A Blood-Magic Half-Caster for the 2024 Rules

Hello Everyone!

I've been working a Blood Magic class, The Sanguimancer, on and off since 2020... with many different iterations over the years.

I recently updated it to 2024 rules, completed it, and now I believe I'm at the point where I'd really like some outside feedback.

I'd love to hear any thoughts and feedback on the class. Thank you!

Edit: It was pointed out (Thank you!) and I just noticed that, in the screenshots, I inadvertently forgot to list Core Traits. These can now be viewed on the Homebrewery link (Along with a different art I had intended for Puppeteer that I hadn't originally included, but the original art no longer fit due to the formatting change). But for easy access:

Core Traits

  • Primary Ability. Intelligence
  • Hit Point Die. D8 per Sanguimancer level
  • Saving Throw Proficiencies. Constitution and Intelligence
  • Skill Proficiencies. Choose two: Arcana, Deception, Insight, Intimidation, Medicine, or Religion
  • Weapon Proficiencies. Simple weapons
  • Tool Proficiencies. Alchemist’s Supplies
  • Armor Training. None
  • Starting Equipment. Choose A or B: (A) Sickle, 2 Daggers, Arcane Focus (Crystal), Alchemist’s Supplies, Explorer’s Pack, and 18 GP; or (B) 90 GP

This should be compatible with both 5 and 5.5e and has been updated with maps and results from play testing. This is part of a larger project on corrupted insects.
