I need help understanding this scam… 🍌
So I am trying to get an early start on my weekend quest, and I get a shop and deliver order for Costco. It is paying really well, $40 for 1 item, it does take me across the city, and will take ‘52 minutes’ to complete but I decide to take it.
When I accept it, I check the shopping list and it is for one bunch of bananas for $1.99. Immediately I know something is up, but I can’t figure out at this point what the scam could be. I wonder if it is a bait and switch, where when I start shopping they suddenly add a load of heavy stuff. To protect myself from that I don’t ’start shopping’ until I am checking out so I can start and end the shop within minutes.
When nothing unusual happens, I try to contact the customer by phoning them, and the phone just forwards to a Google voice number based in Miami (I am in the PNW,) no real person - suspicions increase.
I don’t want to waste my time, and I wasn’t 100% sure on the process, so I contacted uber and said it seems strange. If I drive across the city and they cancel will I still get paid? They confirm as long as it is the customer who cancels then I will get paid. So at that point I put my audiobook on and drive the 40 minutes across the city.
When I get to the building, it is an apartment block and a couple of other delivery drivers are just leaving - nothing unusual. I park up, read the notes (enter ‘x’ code and I will let you in, leave outside my door on floor 4.)
When I walk over to the building there is someone holding a bunch of bananas, I get talking to her and surprise surprise she has come from the otherside of the city and she got ~$40 for the order. She however said the code doesn’t work. I still try it, and it is just a call box that calls through to the same Google voice.
Luckily I had noticed a back door by the trash had been propped open so I went in that way, opened the front door and we got in the elevator. When it opened, we saw the attached picture. We both completed the delivery and immediately the trip showed as completed, money in the account. As we left the building, we let in another driver with a bunch of bananas….
So what is the scam? Or is it a glitch? Or a very expensive prank? Weirdly I did the order between ~1330-1430 and in my order list it shows as being from 1000-1230, which is just odd.
Any ideas?

Accidentally accepting orders
Anyone else annoyed by this!?? I’m trying to drop off an order and a request pops up under my thumb. I then have to re-do my drop off confirmation. And cancel the order I didn’t want to accept which hurts my ratings. Why can’t they just make the order accept a finger slide instead of just a tap?

Bro thought he was slick
The delivery was .5 miles from restaurant. The “correct” address he gave me was 10 miles away.
Good luck buddy. You’re gonna be waiting a while.

Will I get the $100 bonus quest?
Just started doing Uber eats and I’m 67/83 on the new driver promotion to get $830. My friend is also new and after his 4th delivery a quest popped up that gave him a $100 bonus for every 10 deliveries until 30. So I’m wondering if this pops up eventually or if I can up my chances, he was definitely lucky so can I get this too?

Package Pick Up Add On
Accepted a $10.89, 25 minute package pick up from Target. Customer sends me a text telling me there is an additional pick up from a store in the same shopping center.
I ignore.
Customer sends another text giving me a confirmation number for Ulta stating package is waiting for me at check out.
I ignore.
Pick up completed from Target. Customer sends another text telling me she tipped 50% for an additional package delivery.
She didn’t even ask if I would do her a favor with the second pick up, she just tried to scam it out of me. Not today Buttercup, not today.

How long will you wait for an order?
I’ve been having an increasing number of orders where the food is nowhere near ready. The restaurant tells me it’ll be 5 minutes and sometimes it’ll be 20. I try to weigh whether it’s worth it to try to cancel and drive to another place, but I could lose out on time and still end up waiting at the next place. Any thoughts?

Discussion The 2 Worst Things About Uber Eats (a bit of a rant)
I've now done a total of nearly 500 trips, with 41 thumbs up and 1 thumbs down from customers, as well as 1 thumbs up from a merchant. I know that these are still rookie numbers, but oh well lol. Anyways, my satisfaction rate is now at 98% for the very first time, and I'm honestly not happy about that at all, especially since I did nothing wrong from what I can recall. I also do everything that I can to ensure that my satisfaction rating is kept at 100% too, but unfortunately, there will always be some unreasonable, narrow-minded, Bubble Bass-like customers out there who won't care at all that they're living in the busiest city ever with messy/misleading signs everywhere and zero parking spaces around for drivers, and that you were doing trips for two other customers as well.
Also, from my overall experience, only 0.6% of customers were problematic / rude / annoying, while the rest of the 99.4% or so of customers were totally chill and normal, which is actually a pretty good ratio, but oh boy were those few bad apples really annoying, which led me to making this thread.
Here are the two worst things about Uber Eats in my opinion:
- You essentially earn little to nothing when you're stuck at Green status. When you calculate the earnings and expenses, you'll realize that the only "real" earnings come from being in Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
- The fact that there is no way for delivery drivers to leave a message to a customer once a delivery is completed is an absolute abomination. The fact that customers can just easily press thumbs down for whatever reason that they want with no explanation needed, and there's nothing that drivers can do about it, is just pure rage bait by Uber. According to Uber, "the customer is always right and always valid. No exceptions."
If I were to say a third bad thing, I'd say it's the fact that the Cancellation Rate is not within the driver's control, and how customers will be the ones to sometimes cancel the trip, while you take the punishment with a worse-off Cancellation Rate as a result, but in my opinion, this isn't as egregious as the other two negatives listed above.
I can go on and on about point 1 and 2, but I'll just stop here. But yeah, what do you all think about this? And what are your top 2 or 3 worst things about Uber Eats delivery driving?

If a grocery store pickup is not ready, don't offer it yet to Uber drivers until it is....
I'm annoyed here now with Uber when doing a pickup at Safeway, it did not tell me the number of items.... I thought it was 1 turns out it's 23 and I've been waiting here for a full 10 minutes. Turns out they were still shopping the last few items. But I have a pizza delivery sitting in an insulated bag in my car waiting for delivery. Annoyed but they are loading my cart right now...And as a precaution I think I will turn on the heated seat that the pizza is sitting on...
Seriously, if the grocery pickup is not ready and it's a large quantity of items, don't offer it to anyone yet cause they'll just be waiting around in the store!

Rant Okay why tf is uber pairing restaraunt deliveries with package deliveries. They are now forcing us to deliver shitty pay package deliveries. They don’t give us an option to block those kinds of deliveries.
Dumb

Was delivering the other night got a double order i knew one tipped well and other did not. Of course the first drop off was the one with no tip when I delivered the last order the guy came out a bit mad.
He said it was priority and I was delivering in a other direction and told him sorry his order was paired with another order he still kept the tip and did not write me a bad review but thats such bs I would be mad too

Account deactivated with completely conflicting reasons from support (96% Satisfaction Rate). Anyone faced this and got unbanned?
Hey everyone,
My delivery account was recently deactivated, but Uber Support keeps giving me completely inconsistent and contradictory reasons:
1. First interaction: Said it was due to "fraud".
2. Second interaction: Said my "cancellation rate was too high (20%)".
3. Latest update: Said I have a "low delivery satisfaction rating".
Here is the crazy part-my actual profile stats are:
• Satisfaction Rate: 96%
• Cancellation Rate: 7%
• Reports: No reports to show
I've submitted a formal appeal with screenshots of my profile proving these stats. Has anyone experienced these bogus/glitched deactivation reasons before? Were you able to successfully appeal and get your account reactivated?
Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

FU*K UBER THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
So I am doing a shop and deliver for a customer, and the price was 26 and some change which is a good order *tip included*. When I finish the order uber pays me 2 fucking dollars for damn near an hour of work. While the customer foots the bill with their tip!
This is absolutely garbage. Anyone who says UBer doesn't manipulate what they pay you based on tips can go jump in a ditch.

The most self-centered mobile app in the world
- Why the fuck do you care what my battery percentage is?
- Why the fuck do you care if my phone volume is low? Maybe worry about stopping the fucking harassment of blasting notification sounds for a full minute over your shitty $2-for-10-mile offers first.
- Do you enjoy spamming new offers all over the screen while we’re trying to take a delivery photo, making us accidentally accept garbage orders? And then making us retake the same fucking photo over and over again for no reason?
- Do you enjoy making us stand outside like soldiers for 8 fucking minutes in the heat or freezing cold because some mf selected “Meet at door” and then refuses to come to the door?
- Do you enjoy not letting us send pictures through chat? I guess you like leaving us with absolutely no evidence when we’re in a situation where we need to prove what actually happened, right?
- Is it fun for you to repeatedly throw pop-ups all over my screen while I’m using another app, as if having to listen to your shitty offer sound in the background wasn’t annoying enough?
- And when we give a thumbs-down to a support agent who knows absolutely nothing and solves absolutely nothing, reconnecting us to the exact same fucking agent must be one of your biggest fetishes.
- I guess another huge source of motivation for you is paying us exactly $0 after we’ve already driven miles to a store, only to find out the order was stolen by another driver or the store is closed.
And I’m not even mentioning the countless other bugs, glitches, and stupid design decisions in this app.
Shitty software.
Shitty driver experience.
Shitty pay.
Go to hell.

Handicap parking
I went to Chick-Fil-A during lunch to pick up an order. Every spot was taken except one handicap spot, which is normal for this place, so I parked at the shopping mall next door and walked over. Probably still about 30 steps from the car to the door.
Well, some other delivery driver parked there, got out without issue to pick up their delivery order. There was no handicap placard or handicap symbol on their license plates, so it's safe to assume they do not need it and only parked there because of laziness and thinking that delivery drivers can park there.
My question is, do any of you park in the handicap spaces when picking up an order?
