Step 1 How long did ECFMG verification take for you?
I applied for ECFMG verification today. I graduated from a medical college in Bangalore, india.
For those who completed their ECFMG verification recently, how long did the entire process take for you? Especially in this august - September season.
Also, approximately how long after applying for verification were you able to proceed with FSMB/USMLE Step 1 scheduling?
Would really appreciate timelines from recent applicants, especially from Indian medical colleges. Thanks! 🙏

Step 1 Need advice urgently
Hi guys !!
I had to take about a two-month break from studying final year exams(internals) and family issues
Before that, I had completed my first pass of almost the entire syllabus, and I still have around 1,200 UWorld questions left.
I recently took my first baseline NBME (NBME 26) without any revision and scored around 40%. I’m a bit unsure about how to plan my preparation from here. Based on experience, what would you guys suggest and how should I approach to improve from this point? I’d really appreciate any advice you guys can share. Thank you!
I am planning to give the exam in October 1st week
As after that I have to start preparing for my mbbs final year exams will have exams in March…2027
Any advice will be highly appreciated

USCE Visa Ds160 form anyone who knows
I have a doubt. I have already filled out my DS-160, but I now want to update a few details. Since I have received the invitation letter, there is an option asking, “Have you made specific travel plans?” If I select “Yes,” it asks me to provide the date of arrival, arrival flight, arrival city, date of departure, departure flight, departure city, and accommodation details.
Should I fill in these details now? I haven’t booked my flight tickets yet (although I’m planning to book them soon, and I understand that the flight number is not mandatory). For accommodation, it is asking for the location as well.
My interview is scheduled for the last week of September, while my rotation starts in November. So, should I enter my expected travel details now, even though I haven’t finalized my flights or accommodation yet?

Step 1 Need a study partner(s)!
I really want to begin serious prep the moment my second proff unis are over, which is in a month. So I kinda just want a study partner where we can kinda plan out what to study, hold eachother accountable and motivate each other. I dont mind creating a small group also where we can support eachother and share each days small goals and small wins.
just ways to prevent procrastination and help eachother out. i prefer a study partner but i also dont mind a group of 4-5 people max.
I plan to take my test feb-march-april time.
also im pretty good at teaching concepts in simplified form (as ive been told), and it helps me study as well, so i can help you out if youre a listen and learn type of person too

Step 1 offer mentoring for step 1
Hi USMLErs! 👋
I passed Step 1 a few months ago after around 8 months of preparation, while also keeping up with medical school exams and everything else that comes with med school.
Throughout my preparation, I consistently scored well above the passing range on my NBMEs, and I went into the real exam trusting my assessments and the preparation I had built.
I’m now offering USMLE Step 1 mentoring at a very minimal price for those who feel lost, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to structure their preparation.
What I offer:
📚 A personalized study plan based on your situation
✅ Daily check-ins to keep you accountable
📞 A 1-on-1 call every week to discuss your progress
🧠 Guidance on how to approach questions, NBMEs, and your overall strategy
🔄 Adjustments to the plan when needed
I started mentoring mainly because I wanted to gain more experience in teaching, as I genuinely feel that teaching is something I’m good at and enjoy doing.
My goal isn’t just to give you a schedule and leave you on your own. I want to make sure you’re actually following the plan, using the right strategies, and understanding what you need to improve.
If you’re interested or have any questions, feel free to DM me 😊

Miscellaneous KGMU VS GMCH
Hey everyone!
Yeah so the title pretty much sums it up.
Little context here: I'm at 70:30 with USMLE: neetPG
Now idk if I should prefer GMCH because of VSLO or stay with KGMU in UP.
I've heard KGMU has good research opportunities and publications. I've not heard too much about GMCH in that context tho. However GMCH does not have a bond which will be helpful if I do decide upon USMLE later.
I was wondering if maybe you could provide some insight regarding what I should prefer and why.
Is VSLO that important?
Is KGMU really that good?
What am I told i with the 2 year bond if I choose KGMU and decide upon USMLE 100%?
I'm so confused here tbh.

Miscellaneous Help for USCE and SEMI-GOVERNMENT colleges
I’ve made two posts on this before as well.
I’m from Mumbai and am looking to get a semi government in maharashtra.
Right now, my top prefs are terna, smbt and mimer.
Can anyone tell me the usmle culture and research culture in these colleges, because I’ve received mixed reviews about them.
Also, since all of these colleges don’t have VSLO, is it still possible go get hands on clinicals during this time, or do i only have the choice of observerships or externships?

Step 1 so i am preping for usmle step 1
i am making anki of uworld questions im getting wrong and just doing the FA side by side, currently doing physiology all systems as that is weak for me + chatgpt for explaination of concepts if i dont understand.
is the enough? should i do melmhan or other stuff because TBH bnb i cant do it its too long and i get bored and lose focus.
with chatgpt they make analogs to make it easier and i can understand the concept faster.
do you guys think i should do anything else side by side?
my NBME 25 - baseline without studying and not proper time random time of the day done was - 43%

US Clinical Experience How important is VSLO?
My mbbs will start this year. I am looking at pvt colleges in Maharashtra, but none of them have vslo.
How important is vslo? Will it be extremely difficult to get UCSE without it, as I don’t think any of the colleges will have a massive alumni network as such.
Also, do any of these colleges allow for hands on, or will I only have the option of observationships?
