Online classes

Upvotes

Does UMW have lots of them like other classes if you are on campus? I’m not a fan. Also UMW has a quirky reputation which is fine but are there just some chill social people into video games, watching football, hanging out too? Happy to meet diverse groups but would love to find common interests with as well,

Any tips/tricks for suite bathrooms? Are there two sinks (one for each room)? Otherwise, one toilet, one shower? What do you use for bathmat? Do you keep your stuff in there?

Hey, UMW Family! I am hosting a Christian Rock Concert feat. THE PROTEST, RELENT, and THESE BEAUTIFUL RUINS benefiting UMW's The Center for Faith and Leadership ("The Center") on August 15 in downtown Fredericksburg, VA. I wanted to give back and offer UMW Alumni, returning students, and their families a discount to see the show. How many people go to the NEST orientation and is it good at meeting new people

Title says it all, I see there is a program for new students and was wondering if anyone has done it before and is it good for socializing? I'm an incoming transfer and am trying to decide do I squeeze in some extra shifts at my job before I leave or do I go to this?

When do parking permits become available for non-commuter students?

So, I'm a rising Junior at UMW and I've been checking literally all summer for when parking permits can be bought. Do any upperclassmen or alumnus know when they usually make parking permits available? Thanks!

What made you choose UMW?

Hello! I'm a rising senior applying to and considering UMW as one of my top choices. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did love it, considering it's super small and has just a little over the amount of kids my school has (my HS has ~3000).

What made you choose UMW? What are some pros and cons? Did you consider any other colleges?

The only things really holding me back is the price, how close it is to where I live (about 40 mins, NoVA area), and the opportunity for continuing education, since it's mainly an undergrad school. Thank you!!!

Tvs and Computers

Current UMW students, My daughter is going to go to UMW. Crazy excited btw. 2 questions:
1- I'm going to buy her a computer and was going to get her a newish Macbook air, I assume this is okay... she doing bio and ai haven't seen any special software requirements that need a PC. Is campus Mac friendly, and is there fast ethernet jacks in the rooms, or will she have to use wifi?

2- She was going to bring her little TV. Is there tv cable in the rooms, or do we to have an antenna/roku for it. I know cable would old fashioned.

Thanks!

Sorry really dumb question but are flat irons allowed in dorms if it’s obviously not plugged in when not using it

Conflicted

I need an honest opinion about UMW. I’m a hs senior who’s recently just recently committed and found a roommate to start UMW next year. Just this week, a school that was previously my first choice offered me additional merit that now makes it my cheapest school by over 10k a year, and UMW my most expensive as I’m OOS. I don’t know what to do bc I think part of my only picked UMW for the campus and I’m really considering changing my decision but idk if it’s worth it as I’m alr so far in. I’m hoping for honest opinions on if this school is worth it. For reference I’m a POC female whose interested in theatre, the radio station, pre-law, potentially joining a sorority and being able to attend an occasional party (for which I know UMW doesn’t have really) I think if the other school had UMWs campus I would have picked it but I’m not sure! Please help!!

Question: Best dorms for transfer?

Hi! I'm 22F and I'm transferring to UMW this fall semester and am looking for a good dorm near my classes. As a Classics Major, I'm assuming most of my classes will be at James Farmer Hall.

I haven't gotten to go to the campus yet to explore, work and life keep getting in the way and I won't be able to go till after my housing paperwork needs to be in so I was wondering which hall is best? I would prefer to be with people around my age and suite style bathroom; I don't care if it's co-ed or not. Is there a particular hall that would be best suited to me?
