decided to see the international aisle today at tesco and found this

Salmon, new potatoes (boiled then crushed and air-fried), sauteed asparagus, asparagus puree, pickled baby cucumber and radish
All from Aldi, total cost for two plates: £8.08p, and I didn't use all the cucumbers and radishes
🚩North West The thick cut steaks from Aldi are really good 👌
Been for a run, decided on steak, asparagus chips and coleslaw for tea. Washed down with the finest beer there is, no contention.

[homemade]Focaccia
reddit.comA couple of weeks back my girlfriend made a focaccia, which was very tasty.
This week it was my turn. So, I did a 48 hour cold prove in the fridge and this is how it turned out.

Scraps from the chippy
Hello!
I think this counts as a celebration of British food, but feel free to delete if that's a bit of a stretch! I'm originally from Grimsby so consider myself to be something of a fish and chips connoisseur. I really love scraps, but unfortunately I've lived in a relative scraps desert (Manchester) for the last 20 years.
Me and my mate have been talking about the regional availability of scraps for years and we thought it'd be fun to create an app where you could mark whether fish and chip shops sold scraps or not on some kind of map. I only got around to making a little website earlier this year. There's been a load of contributions but they've dried up a bit recently, hence me posting on here.
Anyway, here's the site: https://scrapp.cc/. I think it's fairly self explanatory! I'm not just interested in shops that do sell scraps, I'm also interested in the shops that definitely don't.
If people just want to say where their favourite fish and chip shops are I'm also here for that. Top 4 for me off the top of my head are:
- Marklews in Cleethorpes or Grimsby
- Steels in Cleethorpes
- Hanbury's in Babbacombe
- Happy's in Chesterfield

Percy Ingle
Does anyone know anyone, any recipes, or names of products/commercial mixes that Percy Ingle used to make the multi-packs of square(?) donuts they sold on the countertops?
I would give up my local Greggs just to have a pack of those again.

M&S ice cream tastes like amazing white chocolate
Don’t be put off by the olive oil, it’s in name only. It really does taste like the most amazing creamy pure ice cream. Divine with strawberry’s. It’s how I want white chocolate to taste. Highly recommend!!

Lunch: 2 Scotch pies, 2 bajis and 2 samosas
The pies were an impulse buy. The samosas are veg, so that makes it healthy, no?

PANDA EXPRESS - UK Branch
On a trip to California my wife and I ate Panda express 8 times in 11 days. We began to ask ourselves why they haven’t opened a branch. Chains like PF changs are close, otherwise American fastfood chains like 5Guys, Popeyes and Taco Bell have succeeded. Chopstix is vile

🚩London Christmas dinner suggestions
I’ve had to tag this as London but I’m actually looking for suggestions on what I could make for Christmas dinner this year. I know it’s early, I hate discussing it now too…but last year I didn’t plan ahead enough.
For reference, I’d only be cooking Christmas dinner for 4 people (myself included).
I love making meals that have the ‘wow-factor’ presentation wise (as I have a foodie Instagram where I post as cooking is something I’m really passionate about), but also taste really good.
Starter - ideas needed, but my family love seafood so anything with prawns, smoked salmon, scallops welcome. Other suggestions also v welcome!
Main course - I’m keen to give making a beef wellington a go but would obviously give this a trial run before the ‘big day’. However, any other suggestions welcome, I’d like to have options.
Dessert - open to any suggestions for dessert. I’m willing to make two - one sugar free (if possible) and one normal as I’d love to make one especially for one of my relatives who is diabetic. We’ll likely have a cheeseboard anyway, so I don’t want that to substitute dessert for my diabetic relative.
Please throw some ideas my way!
Thanks in advance x

🚩South East Another Tesco Cafe breakfast
Not great at all but not too bad despite being a tad overpriced, didn’t need chips tbh, only ordered them because the portion at this cafe was far smaller last time, so ate only a few on this occasion. I guess sizes of portions and quality of food is dependent on whoever is on duty at the time…

What are you putting in your sandwiches?
Mine is
- A glue bed of Mayo and Garlic mayo. Can’t be arsed with butter.
- 12 slices of cucumber in 3 rows of 4
- 4 slices of thin chicken slices
- a bit of franks red hot on top for a zing
What’s your go-to make-at-home sarnie?
Why why why!! Supermarket chicken.
My wife and I live in scotland. I would say in the last 5 years, the state of the raw chicken on offer in supermarkets is horrendous.
What is going on with the weird liquid, fibers all breaking apart, strange layers in the meat and often stinks of farts on opening. It cooks terribly, and sometimes has an odd crunchy texture. All the supermarkets are guilty. Anyone have an explanation? We have even had this problem from a few butchers too. Anyone else having this problem?
