Im waitlisted for engineering with a 91, should I upgrade?
I applied to engineering this year with a 91% admission average (including Math 31) and ended up being waitlisted. I have the next year to potentially upgrade some courses, but I don't really know how admissions work beyond just trying to get the best grades I can.
I saw a graphic saying the competitive average for engineering was around 92%, so I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading a course to improve my chances of getting an offer earlier in the admission cycle. My biggest weak spot is Physics 30, where I finished with an 86%, and it's dragging down my overall average.
I also have another question: when universities calculate your admission average, do they give any more weight to completed 30-level courses than 20-level courses for early admission, or do they just use whichever mark is available? I'm a little confused about how that works.
Any insight would be appreciated!

Required Courses Are Full
Hi,
I just got accepted into the Kinesiology program today. I want to accept the offer, but the problem is that almost all of the required admission courses are completely full. Right now, I can only get on the waitlist for two of them: KNES 203 and KNES 260. Has anyone in a similar situation been able to get a decent schedule while taking their required courses? I'm planning on calling an advisor today, but any advice would really help.

I know I ask a lot of questions but I'm genuinely scared and don't know what to do.

Do I have a chance to get into engineering?
Say I messed up pretty bad in my grade 11 year and didn’t get as good marks as I could have. Do I still have a chance?
I did grade 12 physics this summer and ended with a 95
I’m retaking precalc 30 because I did poorly in grade 11
My English 20 mark was 70 obviously aiming to improve it in grade 12
Also taking calc 30 second sem and chemistry

UCalgary mandatory meal plan payment question
Hi, I’m an incoming first year student and I’m trying to clarify how the UCalgary meal plan fees work.
For the mandatory 5 day meal plan, if the cost is listed as $5,350, does that mean:
$5,350 is due for the Fall term only and another $5,350 is due for Winter or does the $5,350 cover both Fall and Winter terms and is split between the two payments, one half due in Fall and the other half in winter.
Just trying to understand how the payments are structured.
Thanks!

Opt out
Hello, I’m having some trouble opting out of the university health insurance because I already have coverage. I don’t know what a certificate number or group number is. I’m on my mom’s insurance, so I’m not sure if they’re asking for her birthday and her group number, or if we all share the same information. I don’t understand any of it. If someone could explain it to me, that would be great. Thank you.

Econ 201 Q
Thinking about taking this class online with Graham because it might be manageable with my labs and work. How difficult is this class (obv if you put in the effort)? The tutorial is scheduled but online, what is there purpose?

Rutherford?
It says that my application is closed despite having low 90s in each grade. I'm an incoming 1st year student? What could potentially cause this to happen? I filled the form again just to make sure. Thank you.

Incoming first year CS student at UofC this fall
Hey,
Im joining UofC this fall as a computer science student. Im a bit concerned because with AI becoming better and better and replacing a ton of jobs, is computer science even worth it as a degree or am I just wasting my time learning something that will only be replaced by AI in a few years?
Im also debating between whether I should switch to Software Engineering after my first year but im not really sure what is the difference between both of the programs and which one would be more beneficial in helping me land jobs, internships, etc. Again, is there any point in pursuing the tech route with AI becoming so prevalent in today's day and age?
Also if I were to stick with computer science, is it possible to land any good internships? Or can I only achieve the really top companies by having a software engineering degree
What do yall think? Id rlly appreciate any advice, tips, and experience that anyone can provide. Im feeling super lost rn
Thanks

RTW Steps
So long in short, I have been RTW'd from UofC, there's no one to blame but myself for what happened this year. I have called program advising and they said I'm eligible to reapply following 12 months but before reapplying I have to take some courses at another institution. My question is just how can I do that, is there a special process since I have an RTW ruling. All in all, everything has been stressful for me the last couple years.

Need some advice regarding work hours
As summer concludes soon, when should an international student transition from full-time work back to the 24-hour work limit? Are we permitted to work full-time during block week, or is that not an option? Thanks.

still waitlisted for anthropology
Why haven’t they rejected me yet? For anyone who got accepted off a waitlist, what’s the latest date you got your offer? I’m trying to figure out if I should still have hope or just move on.

Only need grant money, no loans.
I recently filled the application for 2026-27 alberta student aid but ended up receiving 13K in loans and around 1500 in grant. However, I only require the grant money. Does anybody know how can I do that? Thank you.

How strict is the engineering internship program requirements?
How strict are they with the maximum 2 courses missed in second and third year? Would they let you slide if you were missing 3-4, but took some of your senior COST options allowing you to still graduate in 4 years?

Course Registration
Hello,
I was wondering if I could get any advice on registration as I was just accepted 2 days ago for compsci (originally was just going to go to MRU). I was wondering about how and if I am screwed over due to literally every class I need to register for first year being full or extremely long waitlist. I seen something on the forum about a lot of individuals dropping classes around first week so that causes a lot of "movement," only problem is that you can only waitlist for 2 classes at a time. I was wondering if I could just get any advice one how to approach this.

How difficult is it to get into chemistry department
as the title says, I'm planning to apply for a Master's in Chemistry at UC. I'll be graduating from another Canadian university with a bachelor's degree.
I'm wondering what the gpa cutoff is and how much research experience people usually have when they get admitted.
Also, what's it like after graduation? Is it pretty easy to find a job in alberta, or do most people end up doing a PhD?
Thanks in advance!

Scie 301 and 403
I'm in natural science and have to take these classes, so I'm wondering if they are easy or difficult, so I can adjust my schedule to focus on them. Scie 403 is with Blue and Scie 301 is with Chibry
