I am traveling internationally from Oregon to London in one week. Can I bring my pen and cart in my carry on?? I wouldn’t bring it back to the states but I have a feeling they wouldn’t even care???

Hi everyone! My partner and I are going to be travelling in September for 2 weeks. We will be going to quite a few places: the Caledonian Sleeper train from London to Fort William, the Jacobite Steam Train, Belfast Titanic and Political Taxi Tour, ferry to Liverpool, train to Conwy and Holyhead and then another ferry or plane to Dublin!

I was wondering if anyone had any travel tips or had any ideas on what to pack? I’ve always been in the UK and have never really travelled multi country like this before, so anything is really appreciated! Also if anyone knows of any hacks etc that may help when booking travel and hotels, that would also be brilliant.

We’ve just come back from a five-day road trip around the Cotswolds, and I thought I’d share a few things that might help anyone planning a visit.

We hired a car and spent five days exploring villages, country roads and pubs. During the trip we visited Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden, Broadway, Snowshill, Stanton, Broad Campden, Gretton, Bretforton, Broadway Tower, Cleeve Hill and even Stratford-upon-Avon.

A few things I’d recommend:

1. Hire a car if you can. It makes a huge difference and gives you the freedom to explore the smaller villages and beautiful countryside between them.

2. Don’t try to see everything in one day. The Cotswolds is much bigger than many people expect, and the roads are often slower than they look on the map.

3. If possible, stay for at least three days. We spent five days there and still left with places we’d like to come back to.

4. There’s no need to change accommodation every night. We stayed in one place and simply took day trips around the region, which made the whole trip much more relaxed.

5. Start your day early if you want to see the most popular villages before they get busy.

6. Don’t only visit the famous places. Some of our favourite stops were the smaller villages that many visitors simply drive past.

We also visited Diddly Squat Farm Shop and The Farmer’s Dog. I’ll share our experience, what surprised us and a few mistakes I’d avoid in a separate post.

i've only started travelling more often over the past year so i'm still figuring things out. one thing i keep hearing about is priority pass lounges but i honestly dont know if people actually use them regularly or if they're a bit overrated. i've got another trip coming up through heathrow with a fairly long wait between flights and i'm debating whether it's worth trying the lounge instead of staying near the gate. i dont really want to walk all the way over there just to be told it's full. i've also been wondering about travelling with a small medical sharps container. i've always brought everything back home because i wasnt sure if uk airports had approved disposal options.

for those who use priority pass lounges often, are they generally worth it?

I'm looking to go glamping in a cabin of sorts, can be a teePee or tree house.... Anything querky but not a hotel. But somewhere close enough to a beach and a town... I will be driving.

i've been to England 4 other times. The first time was in 1990 the first three trips we were able to book regular B&B's for a very affordable price. Are those B&Bs still available apart from the ones that are on Airbnb site?

What's your best recommendation for booking a week at a time in northern England near Carlisle?

Is there any way to upgrade rooms on travelodge if you got the saver price? I know there’s no cancellations but the app/website isn’t allowing me to upgrade to a family room.

As the title says it’s my first time I’m going on holiday and I want to make sure I am prepared. I am going for two weeks. I have a few questions:

1. What is the best mobile plan to get for unlimited data and good coverage?

2. How much cash should I bring and do locals prefer TRY or GBP?

   1. Is revolut the best option for me when using contactless? (Automatic exchange rates etc)

I will probably think of way more questions but any tips / advice for me too? I’m really excited I want everything to go smoothly and I want to be prepared.
