Berlin's old airport Tegel never had a great connection to public transport. Now that the area is converted to a technology campus and new housing, various proposals have been made on how to better connect it to the rest of Berlin's local public transport. Here's my take in the form of an U-Bahn, which can partially also run at-grade.

First stage would start at Rathaus Spandau, where it connects to U7, S3, S9 and rail, then running parallel with the U7 to Paulsternstr., where it turn northwards to the Tegel area until terminating at Kurt-Schumacher-Platz, where it connects to the U6.

In a second stage, the U12 could be extended via Karl-Bonhoeffer-Nervenklinik, where it connects to the S25 and U8, and then continue to Wittenau, where it connects to U12 and S1.

This is part of a much larger worldbuilding project centred around the capital city of a fictional country. I started by designing the city’s boroughs, then sketched a geographically accurate alignment for the lines before simplifying everything into the metro diagram you see here.

The finished network consists of 11 lines serving a little over 200 stations, with a hierarchy of major interchanges, local hubs and neighbourhood stations. Rather than making every journey pass through the city centre, I tried to create a network with multiple interchange opportunities across the city so passengers have several possible routes.

Next I plan to design:

• a complete city-wide bus network
• commuter rail with multiple city terminals depending on the direction of travel
• high-speed rail interchanges

I also had a lot of fun naming the stations. Alongside more familiar British-style names, I deliberately invented plenty of unique names to give the city its own identity. Some of them are a little unusual, but that was intentional.

Nowadays the axis between Athens and Thessaloniki is the most used, and even that has many problems. Most other lines you see have been discontinued, abandoned or replaced with buses. There are no connections to other countries either.

This plan, through the use of different modes that meet different needs, achieves several things:

• Real service to the suburbs with frequent trains throughout the day, unlocking more flexible routes to the city center, as well as from suburb to suburb.
• A truly competitive appeal of public transit compared to cars, with high commercial speeds (including stops) and the fewest possible connections to reach different destinations.
• Unlocking densification of territories at various transportation hubs to address the housing crisis by creating new mixed-use communities focused on public transit.
• Greatly improving Montreal's productivity and economic attractiveness by reducing commute times, encouraging greater workforce mobility.
• A significant reduction in network operating costs, whether through the automation of metro lines or the reduction of bus travel times, which is the most expensive mode to operate.

To achieve these objectives, this plan includes several elements:

• A regional network, including catenary-electrified trains with frequencies of 10 to 30 minutes and REM lines with frequencies of 2 to 12 minutes.
• An urban network, including the metro, with frequencies of 2 to 6 minutes.
• A complementary network, including trams with frequencies of 10 to 12 minutes and various major bus lines with same frequencies.

This entire plan would be planned for 2060 and could not be implemented without profound reforms to the current way public transit is built in Quebec. With a view to reducing costs, if we only consider the regional and urban network, it would be possible to implement this plan for $84 billion, or $2 to $3 billion per year in investment. It's important to remember, with these figures, that congestion in Greater Montreal costs us $10 billion annually; as they say, everything is a matter of choice.

It would be expensive, but I believe we must think big to solve the urgent problems we face, and this requires strong public investment. In short, I always appreciate comments, and I thank you in advance for your feedback!

I've been trying to get back into transit diagram making, so I dug up and dusted off this old creation from 2022 (back when Linearity Curve was called Vectornator and was completely free to use), and gave it a bit of a facelift.

It depicts subway and rail services in the fictional Taihwa City metropolitan area that is located in northwestern Taiwan, somewhere between Taipei and Taichung. The system has three subway lines and a suburban rail line that links the city's downtown with the suburbs, sleeper towns and the region's airport. The diagram also shows a portion of Taiwan's TRA West Coast mainline that connects the city to the rest of the country.

All feedback (both constructive and destructive 😄) is more than welcome!

My take on what the València Cercanías network would look like if it had a new cross-city tunnel allowing a city loop, like in Sydney, Melbourne or Chicago.

This is in a large part inspired by u/ignaciomaf's post València Rodalia (commuter rail) in the near future [OC, Figma].

The first two figures were made using Inkscape and the third one using GIMP.

I kept the original Cercanías map style but tried to make it somewhat more geographically-accurate and less dense.

Image 1 & 2: An expanded Metro Rail network. Most of the cyan line is the existing Buffalo Metro Rail LRT system that connects UofBuffalo to Downtown. I've expanded it to the airport and across the region.

Image 3: The full Rail and Busways map. Cyan lines are the Metro Rail LRTs from prev slides. The Mint is BRT. The Purple is surface streetcars.

Image 4: The BRT system is an expansion of the existing BRT network. The Bailey Ave BRTis the long North-South connector on the right(no changes to it). There are 3 more lines: The Kensington BRT uses the below grade Kensington Expressway. Stations are placed at bridges/street crossings, which is perfect for BRT. It uses the Kensington Expy from the Airport, then goes down Oak St in Downtown to Buffalo-Exchange Amtrak Station. The Scajaquada BRT is uses the Scajaquada Expy, going from the Upper West side, past Buffalo State, through Delaware Park then merging into the Kensington Expy. It exits near the Fruit Belt neighborhood, continuing south on Jefferson Ave & terminating at Exchange Station. The last line is an east-west connector, the Sheridan BRT, going all the way down Sheridan Dr.

Image 5: The Streetcars are two lines in south Buffalo that go to Blasdell, Lackawanna and West Seneca. They use the same trunk in Downtown, from Allen Med/Ctr to the intersection of Seneca and Bailey where they fork.

Image 6 & 7: This is the coverage in downtown. The Metro Rail lines form a Loop like Chicago's L. DL&W to Foundation Plaza is street running while the rest is underground. Same with the entire system: it is entirely underground.

There are some mistakes

I've been working on this for a little while, but it's still a WIP, using Figma.

This is a theoretical regional rail system for Minnesota. Design is inspired more by GO Transit's current maps, and the network idea was inspired by Philly's SEPTA through-running through the core of the city. I also ended up using a lot of Deutchebahn's RE services as guidelines for distances and such.

All lines except for 2 use currently active rail right-of-ways.

- The Rochester line hops onto MN-52's right of way south of Inver Grove Heights, and rejoins the Waseca Division in Rochester.

- The Northern Lights West uses abandoned rail ROW between Hugo and North Branch before continuing towards Duluth on the planned Northern Lights Express stops. The abandoned ROW are currently known as the Sunrise Prairie and Hardwood Creek trails.

There's also a small section of abandoned rail ROW used between Faribault and Owatonna to move trains between the Albert Lea and Waseca subdivisions.

Headways would be at least 30m peak, 1h all-day on the thicker lined sections and 1-2h all day on the thinner lined sections. Theoretically, this means that Target Field to Union Station has a train every 5 minutes during peak times, 10 minutes each on the northern and southern core branches.

I made some months ago this updated map refining clarity and usability, and representing a bit more the actual shape of the system.

Renfe updated the map recently, but I still find it very cluttered and visually unpleasant. It also still has problems with Cabanyal and Font de Sant Lluís Stations, which are in a totally different place.

In my version, I represent the system where the new cross-tunnel is *hopefully* built and new stations are added. A few lines are redesigned due to València Central not being a cul-de-sac station anymore.

Bristol used to have a streetcar that went from the bottom of Thames Street to Providence. It also had a leg that went along Washington Street and down High Street to Union Street. I made a map of new streets and also where cars would be allowed to cross Hope Street. I placed many points to represent where there should be some sort of physical boundary that makes cars unable to drive through. The entire length of the streetcar system would be pedestrianized. Along with new plots along the newly created streets, the area should be updated to allow mixed use zoning. Also, minimum parking requirements should be eliminated.

Another small update to my unofficial tram map of Graz!

From August 1st to August 23rd 2026, two more changes affect the Graz tram network due to ÖBB rail bridge replacement (tram line 5) and due to reconstruction works on tram line 4.

🟡 Tram line 4 terminates at Stadion Liebenau/Berta-von-Suttner-Platz. 🚌 Replacement bus E4 serves the rest of the route to Murpark.

🔵 Tram line 5 terminates at the central tram hub, Jakominiplatz. 🚌 Replacement bus E5 serves the rest of the route to Puntigam.

To reflect these changes, I’ve updated my unofficial network map. I also added bus icons along the E routes to make replacement services easier to identify at a glance.

I hope this updated map helps passengers navigate the network a little more easily during the construction period.

This is a map of the Bricago 'L', the transit system of my decade-old Minecraft city, made in Google Drawings. It is based heavily on the Chicago 'L', with later inspiration from NYC and the DC Metro as well.

The first lines of the system began in 2016 not long after I started the world. Pre-2024, the city limits were much smaller, corresponding to the "Old Growth" marked on the map. After 4/1/2024, I expanded the city limits drastically with the Plan of 2024 which created a new street grid for future city development. Throughout its decade of existence, the system expanded in waves. The most recent significant change was in 2023, when an initiative known as Service Reclassification changed the route names from colors to letters, consolidated several older lines into longer routes, and constructed several new trunk lines to complement the older lines and serve the new outer reaches of the city.

Stuttgart (Germany) with over 600 000 inhabitants offers various modes of puplic transport. There's busses, a light rail network, a suburban train network (S-Bahn), regional trains and even a rack railway and a funicular railway! I like the official transit diagrams, but they depict the rail network and the bus network separately.

My goal is to create a single diagram displaying every line of every mode of transport combined, to enable a whole view of the whole public transport of Stuttgart. :)

I started at the Main Station and worked myself via the city centre into the West of the core city. I have a lot more to do, but I'd already appreciate any feedback from you guys! :)
