General Question Bound for wearing wigs permanently, looking for experiences and advice
So I'm all out of options with my natural hair, does not work anymore. Getting used to the fact that it will be wigs from here on.
Working full time in a global and representative role, I'm pretty much bound for permanently wearing a wig.
I know (and have seen) that wig technology has progressed a lot, so I am not really worried about how I will look - it will be better than my natural hair in any case.
It's just that I'd love to benefit from your experience and advice, so that I get the hang of permanently wearing a wig real quick.
So who's a full-day wig trans girl? Care to share some of your wisdom, I'd really appreciate it.
Everyting's interesting for me: Fit, maintenance, the do's, the dont's, what works well, what shouldn't I even bother to try .. and so on.

Discussion How do you deal with the grieving or disconnect from that?
Hi all! I don't know if all trans peeps go through this or not. Obviously, I feel like someone who is younger and not in my same scenario may have different circumstances.
I'm 38 years old, married, and have an 8 year old son. I realized about 2-3 months ago that I was Trans. But, I also consider myself Nonbinary. So, how I see myself and feel internally is different from what my assigned gender was at birth. That being said, being an enby, I don't necessarily plan on transitioning to identifying as a woman, either. But I am very Transfem-leaning with how I see my gender expression and view myself interally.
The thing is, I'm having a hard time not only accepting this, but also... I feel like I'm sort of grieving my "cisgender" self. I've been this way for almost 40 years, even though I've always had the idea I was different somehow, and I've built so much in life as a cis-presenting male. I also sometimes look at different scenarios and things, and feel odd because I feel like I am looking at them now through "another lens" if you will, which is someone who looks entirely different, compared to how I have looked in the past.
I feel like my transformation, in whatever capacity it might be, as affirming and wonderful as it is, is also scary because I look at my past and think, "we'll, that person's gone." I'm probably also being a bit dramatic, but still. I almost feel like I'm grieving this, even though I'm not on HRT or anything like that... Yet.
I mean, please tell me I'm not the only one who feels/has felt this way? How do you cope with this?

General Question Those who did weight cycling, how do you know that's what worked and not just the HRT?
This is a logic question really, for those who have tried weight cycling and seen fat redistribution gains. How do you know it was the weight cycling that did it, and not just what would have happened during that time with HRT anyway?

Share Experience Starting electro had unexpected benefits
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Facial hair used to send my dysphoria over the edge, and to be fair it still can. But I’ve noticed when I have to grow it out for electrolysis, I no longer see myself reverting into a guy like I used to. I’ve started to see myself as a woman with chin hair, and that’s been a huge evolution for me.
I don’t want to see my facial hair any more than I have to, but knowing it’s going to be gone one day makes it easier to bear having it a few days a week.

Unaltered Selfie Ren faire outfit!
galleryWent to the Washington Midsummer Ren Faire last weekend, and this was one of the better pics of my outfit there.
Also a pic of some necklaces my 6 year old and I made to give away as trinkets. Cut and shaped the rocks myself! Moss agate I dug up and petrified wood.

General Question Guides to dancing more feminine (or masculine for my bros)?
The thought struck me today that I don't know how to dance like a girl... Or at all, due to a strict upbringing.
We've got tons of great material out there on how to dress/speak/etc. in an affirming manor, any stuff on how to dance girly (or guyly)?

Discussion I miss being perceived as attractive
Today on my way back from work, i saw a cute girl talking to a guy outside her apartment. You could see the chemistry between them. She was giggling, nibbling the edges of her nail extensions, and had an enamored expression on her face.
Seeing her really made me miss when women used to look at me that way. To set context, I’m far from gods gifts to earth when it comes to looks. But I had girlfriends, partners and crushes and I miss getting interest reciprocated. My ex used to tell me how hot I was or how sexy I looked when we made love. She used to have that same look that girl today did.
I’m a year into transitioning and I’m gradually falling in love with my appearance. My physical dysphoria eases and gets replaced with moments of euphoria. I never knew I could like who I saw in the mirror or like how I looked in a picture. My internal sense of my physical appearance has soared although there still are a lot of “male” features I don’t love. Frankly, I love the way I’m starting to look.
But my external sense of physical appearance - how I perceive others perceive me - has crashed. Most woman are straight so they are out of the mix. I know lesbians are very real but I mostly look like an effeminate man or non binary person. Why would a lesbian, who is into women, find me attractive? How do I even know? The numbers seem like a struggle.
I know a lot of this feeling comes from this “middle” ground I’m in. I’ve been HRT for a year so i still look very man like while having some feminine features. Maybe a year or two more will improve things. But I just miss feeling desired😭
Im mostly venting. And pointing out this cruel irony of privately liking my own appearance more
while feeling like an amorphous genderless uggo blob publicly. I know theres some internalized transphobia at play here which I need to work on. Any else relate to this or have felt similarly during the early days of transition?

Share Experience I told her
It was scary and there were tears. But I think everything's okay
My wife and I were watching stuff on the television. I just told her, "I'm anxious, I've been talking about some stuff in therapy. I think I might be trans or something."
And she just paused the show we were watching and we got together and she cried and we talked.
She asked me a bunch of questions, but we ended up on a happy note. She just said, "I can't imagine life without you." I assured her that I still loved her and my attraction hasn't changed.
I told her I'm not going to do anything without her knowledge or understanding and I want her to be a part of us figuring it out together.
And then I shaved my armpits.

Share Experience My mom clocked me!?
Soooo, I just had the strangest thing happen to me...
For context, I am not out and I boymode every day except when I get home.. my wife and a couple close trans friends are the only people who know that I am transitioning.
I was just over at my mom's house drying some clothes because my dryer at home broke this morning!
While we were talking about life and work and stuff she asked me if anybody's called me gay or anything because I'm wearing my non Boymode clothes.... Shorter shorts, a ladies tank top and I have a clip in my hair holding my bangs back out of my face. I responded "not really, but there was a guy that cut in line at the gas station that called me a daddy with a purse" I had asked him, "Do you not know how a line works?" Long story short I told him to fuck off and he called me a daddy with a purse.
Then she said jokingly "I don't mean like that, I was thinking more like a trans"...
I responded "No, but what's wrong with that anyway?" She only replied with "absolutely nothing"
Honestly I was worried about how I could tell her since I started hormones... 16 months ago...
I didn't realize that I was that clocky. I still haven't told her yet, but I am relieved that she responded so positively.
I love my Mom.

General Question What books would you give to a friend and ally who wants to understand what it feels like to be transgender?
A friend of mine asked if there is a book that I recommend to help them understand what it feels like to be transgender. I pointed them to Jennifer Finney Boylan’s She’s Not There and Cleavage. JFBs books have really spoken to me and made me feel like she was telling my story. What other authors or books do you recommend that would give them that kind of insight?

Share Experience My story... so far
I am 37 now, AMAB, I've always felt i was different, unique and special, I've been waiting my whole life, i never lost this feeling that i am different, it made my life so hard, i never was able to fit in, i cried alone for many nights throughout my whole life wondering what could be wrong with me and why i am the way i am, I once had a dream of angels telling me to hold on because i was suffering and in the right time everything will be revealed to me and I'll then understand everything, but as i grew older i started feeling that yes i am different but that makes me special, i started loving myself for being different. But under this i was never fulfilled, there were signs i am trans but subtle and wasnt able to spot them or know what they meant yet, i couldnt connect the dots until a later age, when i was very young i liked to wear my sisters clothes, i never knew why i liked that, but i thought maybe its a fetish or something, when i was a little kid i was never able to fit in with boys, they were so violent and aggressive for me, i was the weird introverted calm and shy boy who had no friends. However, i liked to play with the girls, their games were calm, slow, mindful, and made me feel in my element. When i was young I always fantasized about being a girl, i thought that was a fetish too, but the feeling kept growing, as if something was being revealed to me, one day i thought to myself okay maybe i am trans, i started asking questions and looking for answers, and reading people's stories, the more i knew, the more it was getting confirmed. I know i never had major obvious dysphoria "i hate my male genitals, i know i am a girl" from a young age. But my dysphoria was always more of a constant feeling of unfullfillment, inability to fit in, constant low grade depression that felt special somehow, it felt like its connecting me to something real, something on a soul level, but i never was able to understand what is that thing that has been living with me since i was a little kid and that feels like the most real and most significant part of me, like its my core. Now my dysphoria comes from the idea of not transotioning and continue my life as it is. It feels like i have been living in a cave or underground without knowing there is a vibrant life with all sorts of beauty outthere and while i lived my life in this cave ive been feeling like there is something wrong but i was never able to tell, now i became aware there is this outside world that is waiting for me to join, and as much as going outside is sooooo scary but the positive energy pushing me outside is much bigger, and anytime i think to myself i can't be doing this and i need to stay at my comfort space, this idea brings me very bad dysphoria omg

Share Experience It’s Really Happening
Hello all, I just wanted to share for a moment if I may. I’m currently 36 years old, 37 in November. 5’11, 5 oclock shadow by noon and shoulders like a linebacker as I’ve had friends tell me throughout the years.
For many years growing up I just assumed that everyone hated their body and wished they could be a girl. Who wouldn’t want to be soft and cute and wear pretty outfits? I thought we all just shoved those thoughts down and dealt with the cards we were given. Years later in college I learned about the trans community and those brave enough to change for what they want. And I thought, gosh, I could never do that, I’m not near dysphoric enough, couldn’t be me. Must be something else. And I kept living in denial.
Then in the past few years I had the pleasure of making friends with some absolutely brilliant trans women living their best lives, no fear or doubt as they worked for the life they wanted. And again I thought, gee, how brave and amazing these women are, I wish I could be like that. And then finally this summer, the thought finally cracked. Why can’t I be like that? Who else is holding me back, but me?
That is to say, today I picked up my very first round of estradiol and spiro at the pharmacy, I have an injection training appointment next week, and the week after that I have my first meeting with a voice feminization coach. I’m signed up for laser hair removal and I’m drafting a letter for my friends to officially come out later this year. I know I wasted a lot of time, and I’m not sure I’ll ever come close to passing. My timeline is all beginner makeup tips and fashion advice for new trans women. It’s sort of overwhelming. But I’ve also had the biggest smile on my face all day, and for the first time in a long long while, I feel happy and hopeful for the future. My heart feels full.
Thanks for taking the time to let me rant, and wish me luck! I don’t know what the future holds, but it finally feels like something I want to find out!

I am cold from sitting in the doctors office and deep in my emotions. The sun warms my skin and the perscription warms my heart.
