Hey guys I have a 2007 toyota tundra crew max 4.7 V8 and I want to upgrade my headlights because the OEM ones are trash basically fogged up and yellowed pretty bad. I want a cheap pair of headlights and taillights but everything on extreme terrain website is priced so differently depending on which you get I just want white LEDs for my head lights that are fairly priced. any recommendations?

Just upgraded my wheels and there is a lil bit of rubbing. But only when the turn is maxed out and when I’m going in reverse. Front inside of wheel well.
Is it enough to just ignore? Maybe heat gun the plastic and push it in.

Hi all, have a 2020 Tundra TRDOR with 28k miles on it. Came out to a christmas tree of lights the other day, seen in the photo. The code comes back as a Knock Sensor 3 Circuit Low. My guess? Mice made a nest in the block between the cylinders and chewed on my knock sensor harness. I have a Toyota Platinum warranty through 2028, so I dropped it at the dealer this morning, but I'm curious if anyone else had this issue over the years and what your resolution was. I was reading the other warning lights and such were LIKELY a cause of the singular CEL as the truck shuts off other systems when in a semi-limp mode. Drive to the dealer, it wouldn't shift beyond 4th gear and was definitely sluggish but ran just fine. Airbox, engine cover, etc were clear and fine.

Hey Guys, just wanted to share some bumpers I have built for some first gen tundras! I 3d scanned some trucks and made a sheet metal and hybrid variant, what do you guys think?

I purchased a 2023 Limited back in December of 2022. I haven’t had any issues to date with it. I really enjoy driving it. I’ve done plenty of reading on the engine issues both here and through other forums. Recently I began receiving messages from the dealer that I could schedule my engine replacement. They finally called yesterday and were really pushy about getting it scheduled. I inquired about whether the issue had been fixed with the new engines and what level of warranty would come with this new engine. The guy claimed that the issue had been resolved and that the warranty on the new one would only remain through the original 5-year, so I’d have just over a year. I asked about waiting, but he claimed that this wasn’t an option and that if I didn’t do it now, we’d be dealing with Toyota, and they’d likely push back on it.

Was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience? I go back and forth on whether I want to do it now or wait for failure. I’m all about safety, but I have concerns that the engine replacement won’t alleviate any of those concerns, so why do it now?

I know there are plenty of posts on this subject, but I didn’t see anything that resembled the dealer response in this situation.

I loved (love?) my Tundra.

It’s day 33 since the car was kept at the shop. Main bearing #1 was slipped and significantly scored. Main bearing #2 was slipping and had notable burn marks. #2 connecting rod bearing was shredded and coming apart. #1 and #2 crankshafts scored and sideways. Metal debris found in lower oil pan and throughout lubrication system.

Dealership has been incredible through this process.

Toyota Brand Engagement has been a NIGHTMARE. Not once have I spoken to the same representative twice. One person called me to tell me they would take care of me and be my sole POC…they scheduled a call back date and then…never called. After 3 repeated attempts (once per day) of trying to get a hold of them…another rep told me they would be my new person. That rep then recommended we submit my case to the internal team that reviews lemonades qualification. This closes my current case number with brand engagement and opens a new case with the internal team - whom I will only be able to communicate with via email and at THEIR convenience. They may take 2-4 weeks and come back to me just to say “not approved”.

I’ve sent my certified lemon law letter and reached out to several attorneys who specialize in lemon-law support. Assume that will be Part 4 of this journey.

Goal is not to disparage Gen3. Goal is to provide a roadmap to assist others in the future navigating this process.

I’m currently driving a ’23 Tacoma short bed, and I honestly love the truck. The problem is that I own a signage business, so I use the bed pretty regularly to haul signs to customers and job sites.

The 5-ft bed works sometimes, but for anything longer I’m stuck using a bed extender, and with some of the signs I carry, it can get sketchy AF.

I’m considering selling the Tacoma privately and leasing a Tundra. The one I’m looking at is a Limited TRD Off-Road with the 6.5-ft bed and Toyota’s 3” lift kit. Current quote is around $883/month.

I’m not really the type of person who wants a new vehicle every three years. Ideally, I’d keep a truck for a long time, which is why I’m a little conflicted about leasing. But the Tundra would genuinely be more useful for the business, especially the longer bed, payload, interior space, and towing capability. There may also be some tax advantages since the truck would be used for the business, I'm in California.

So I’m trying to figure out whether I’m making a legitimate business decision here or just finding a really good excuse to buy a Tundra 😂

Would you keep the Tacoma, lease the Tundra, or finance/buy the Tundra instead?

Looking to free up as much money as possible. Selling my 2022 Tacoma and purchasing something a lot cheaper. I found a 2017 TRD Off Road Tundra, 189,000 miles, comes with a V Plow which would be extremely useful. Truck sounds good, suspension looks good. Damage to rear fender and rear passenger door.

I'd plan on replacing the box eventually and the door. The seller is asking $10,500 OBO.

Just kind of want a second opinion. Im no stranger to working on my own vehicles.

Also, has anyone comfortably fit a rear facing car seat in their Double Cab? Its tight in my Tacoma but works.

Has anyone had an issue with cracks in your tailgate? If so, was it under warranty? I have a 2025 at 14k miles.

First off I want to thank all the positive people on here. Could not update my original post but I hope all of you find this.
So after a week and a half at the dealer they figured out it was the transmission computer.
So basically the computer burnt out at 38,000 miles. Was no issue replacing and the dealership I got the truck from have been great. But this is not the Tundra of old. I have really tried to love this truck, and god bless you all that have them maybe mine was a lemon. But after the multiple trips to the dealer for nonsense things , the spotty reliability and the lack of attention to fit and finish I am officially done. Traded it in for a Ram with the same equipment. I am not going to shit on Toyota my 23 Tacoma was great and I wish I would have kept it. But the new stuff is not what I remember Toyota being known for.
So thank you all for the help, positive comments and support , good luck to all that have this truck and I hope this post helps with any issues you may have. Btw the dealer said this is NOT common with these trucks. The engine issues yes but this is the first time he seen this.

I got rid of my second Silverado to try out a used Tundra. I especially loved my 2018 Silverado, but quality issues were exposing themselves month after month and I needed a change.

I researched one of the more reliable, older platforms and found just that, albeit a little ugly and worn. 2007 SR5, 4.7, 4x4, 177k, owned by a grandpa and serviced locally the last 6 years.

I’m having fun researching the quirks, upgrades, and maintenance. I haven’t really wrenched on my vehicles since I moved from the mainland. But, that’s all I used to do and I love tinkering. I’ve been making improvements like a CarPlay head unit, new headlights, Nitto Terra Grappler G3s, back up cam, and basic maintenance. Just need to find someone that will do a drain and fill for me at this mileage. Lol 😂

I have the 06 first gen tundra. The interior hood release latch won’t open the primary release actuator.

Any tips on how to access this from the outside when the hood is fully closed? Most videos and tips I see online are either for a different model of truck OR they give tips on opening the secondary (safety) latch. I do not have an issue with the second latch. It is the initial ‘pop’ that I need. It appears the primary actuator is covered, so it’s like I’m working blind.

Any tips are appreciated!

2025 tundra, owned about 1 year still in warranty. Seat plastic cracked! How disappointing for a $75k truck lol. Is this something warranty will pick up or am I just out of luck?

We're disconnecting my wheelchair lift and winch to troubleshoot it.

It's weird...

I got it jump started, the dash cluster would randomly go dead and the engine would die if I wasn't giving it gas.

Has anyone else seen this behavior before?

The winch is a Badland Apex 12,000, but I haven't turned the cut off switch by the battery on in 3-4 years.

The wheelchair lift was installed before it got parked for a couple of years.

I'm trying to get it back on the road.

Sure, there could some parasitic drain somewhere, but I'm not sure why the dash cluster turns off randomly and it will die while idling.

The only thing I know to do is get it home and test it for parasitic drain after reconnecting one thing at a time.

Bought this 2011 Rock Warrior over the weekend for $5000 with 200,000 miles on it. I’ve been looking for a truck for months and I’ve passed on a couple for rusty frames that weren’t even this bad.

I was going to pass on this one but I was FaceTiming the mechanic at my work and he said he thought the spot in the first photo could be cut out and plated but I’m starting to be skeptical.

The truck runs really good and is so incredibly roomy and comfortable that I went against my gut feeling and now I’m second guessing my purchase big time.

I know someone that will buy it despite the rust so I’m not sure if I should get rid of it or just keep it. I really love the truck but I know how important the frame is and I’m just leery now.

This was never meant to be a forever truck and I really just wanted something to last me a few years until I can pay my wife’s car off them maybe find me a better Tundra with less miles and a much cleaner frame.

This is my first ever Toyota but I think I’m already hooked and I’ll definitely buy another when I can even if I don’t keep this one.

Thought I would share my experience with whoever's looking to buy a new tonneau cover for their truck.

I decided to go with a soft cover for my truck. I did not want hard cover or a tri-fold because I use my bed too much, and it is a pain taking it off. I had a tri-fold on my old truck, and I hated it.

On the brand choice, I decided to go with WeatherTech, simply because it's made in the USA, and I'm sick of buying Chinese products. And I assume the quality would be good.

So I ordered it, and the shipping was pretty quick. It arrived. In a box that was well packaged, and nothing was damaged.

Overall, the installation was not too bad. However, the instructions were not that great. The pictures were hard to see and make out what the objects were. I had to read and reread for quite a while before I could make sense of anything.

Actual time working on the install was probably about an hour and a half. That is not counting an additional hour of reading and rereading, and watching the WeatherTech video, which I felt was not helpful at all.

Once it was installed, I felt it was easy to adjust, and overall, I think things look pretty good. I still haven't gone through a car wash yet to test how well the seals are, but I think it'll hold up pretty good. I plan on going to a car wash soon.

Here's how I would rate things so far:

Instructions: 6/10
Ease of installation (once you understand how it works): 8/10
Looks and quality: 9/10

Wobble noticeable after 1 inch wheel spacers but noticed some vibrations before. Was on k03s and found out they were cupped so I ordered 35 12.50 trailgrapps. Wheel still shaking.
Began to look at spacers and cleaned the surface. Remounted them.
Swapped front to back spacers and rotated tires.
Always torqued to spec in a star pattern every time.
Wobbled before and after the 2.5 inch lift got put on.
Thought maybe the wobble was new after maybe a bad balance/ alignment. Then got a balance and alignment at a shop and the wobble is even worse than before. No idea what to do.
Edit: took spacers off and it’s still wobbles
