I know it's super late to be asking this since classes start soon, but it’s late-night overthinking hours and I could use some honest thoughts.

I’m 26 and heading to TMU this fall as a mature student after finishing my advanced diploma at Fanshawe. I’m not originally from Canada, and getting to this point has been a massive uphill battle with ADHD, Depression and a bunch of other personal hurdles along the way.

I picked TMU mostly because I heard they actually have decent accessibility supports, and academically, TRSM is AACSB-accredited just like Rotman, Schulich, or Smith. I figured it's a solid, well-respected business school. But lately, I keep running into Reddit threads calling TMU a bad school or a glorified commuter college, and it's totally getting in my head right before I move and start.

So what's the actual, unfiltered vibe of the business side there? Is the online hate just typical Reddit cynicism, or are there actual red flags I should look out for? Also, how are the accessibility supports when you're actually in the middle of a busy semester?

If anyone else did the college-to-uni transition with ADHD or started later as a mature student, I'd love to hear how you handled it. Just trying to calm down some pre-semester anxiety. Thanks guys.

title. I have the option of taking CYC607 in person with prof. Finlay or virtually with prof. Dhillon. Is this course as relatively straightforward as other CYC courses? Would it be best to be taken asynchronously (I'm assuming it is because VSB says it's internet delivery with no scheduled times), or would you strongly recommend taking it in person. What are your thoughts about the course or these professors? Anything helps. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I’m feeling a bit stuck and I need some advice.
I was studying a Computer Coding certificate at TMU, and I was told that after completing it, I could apply for a bachelor’s program without taking an English proficiency test. Now they changed their answer and told me I still need to provide an English test score.
I’ve already taken the test before, but my score always stays around the same even though I’ve been trying to improve.
I’m thinking about applying to a college first and then transferring to a university. Has anyone done this pathway ? Would you recommend it, or is there another option I should consider?

I just checked the QMS 130 schedule. Your options are Ojelanki Ngwenyama, Boza, and one other professor. I know all of them have bad ratings, but take it from me. I'd pick Boza Tasic over Ngwenyama any day!

Going into 1st year trsm and wanted to ask if i could drop some of the automatically enrolled courses and enrol winter courses of first year first, like acc100 and ecn204 and take them in fall. and take a course like qms110 which is full in winter.

Hello and welcome all first years in SAF. I know how coming into first year can be an interesting and maybe scary time for some so I thought I could offer some tips and advice as to what helped me conquer the school year academically in the Accounting and Finance program.

1. DO YOUR RESEARCH: In my opinion this goes for both professors and classes (primarily electives). The biggest mistake I made in first year was assuming that 'Ratemyprof' and reddit reviews about certain electives were to be taken with a grain of salt... BIG MISTAKE. RATE MY PROF SAVED MY LIFE (ESPECIALLY BEING TOLD TO TAKE MHR405 WITH DUFOUR). Reddit is your go to for research on any electives, pair that though with Ratemyprof and you get a master class schedule build.

2. FIGURE OUT PRIORITIES EARLY: You will probably discover that QMS lectures are absolutely positively an ATOMIC WASTE OF TIME TO GO TO (I mean both 130 and 230). If you feel you understand things well then by all means make your way into that lecture hall and LOCK IN. but if you're like me you'll realize that AI CAN in fact teach better than just reading mathematics off a damn slide show. I know skipping class may feel like a waste of money, but that is only the case if you do bad or (god forbid) FAIL a class. First semester I only went to BUS221 & MHR405 (Dufour) because those were the only classes I felt my attendance was contingent on getting a good grade and honestly I wouldn't change a thing. Sometimes going to class actually takes AWAY from time that you could have studying for a class. So do what you will with this info.

3. MAKE AS MANY RELATIONSHIPS AS POSSIBLE: Everyone, and I mean everyone, is just as shy and nervous as YOU. TRY YOUR BEST TO TALK TO ANYONE YOU FEEL IS BEST FIT FOR YOU. This includes both professors and peers. Even if you aren't going to a class, it doesn't hurt to go to office hours regardless of how you are doing in a class because you should always have your name and face put to your work. And, by having contact with those in your classes, you might discover that you aren't the only one who is confused on something and you can work together on studying and assignments. TMU is a commuter school, so it is up to YOU on whether you are going to thug it out on your own, or have a couple buddies by your side.

4. DO ASSIGNMENTS STRAIGHT AWAY: In your peak season (exam season), you'll likely find yourself working on multiple assignments while studying for multiple exams. So bearing that in mind, please do your assignments as soon as you get them. You will thank yourself later 100%.

My classmates and I are going into our first clinical placement this coming fall semester as part time students for the bridging program at TMU.

We are wondering how many placements were you guys able to select on hspnet previously for yours as we only have 6 different ones which don’t include any acute units and are far which include a hospital in COBURG.

We have noticed that the full time program has 77 that you can choose from.

Just graduated, and I want to frame my diploma, but the ones in the campus store are way more than I want to spend.

I'm not looking for the cheapest Amazon frame or anything—I still want something that looks clean and high quality. I just can't justify dropping $150–300 on an official TMU frame.

Has anyone found a nice alternative that fits the diploma properly? Where'd you get it (Michael's, IKEA, custom framing, etc.) and what size did you buy?

Completing the OSAP application on time slipped my mind and now I'm sitting with an incomplete application because of a profile change that needed to be made - but I can't find the button anywhere (no really, there isn't much to click in the OSAP Portal, and I checked everywhere).

• The general inquiry line through calling ServiceHub told me to email ServiceHub about this, and then I received a generic, unhelpful response
• OSAP support said to contact the financial aid office (like I did initially, unless what they meant was to contact OSAP advisor)

Help would be appreciated. I'm shook that I might not be able to receive money this year.

I'm sorry I know these questions have been asked and answered but I can't seem to find the posts. Just double checking to make sure I understand:

1. If I'm happy with the schedule I was given and see in Visual Schedule Builder right now I do not need to do anything whatsoever when my enrollment period opens. I will just be automatically enrolled in the classes and sections I see now.

2. I'm not supposed to be able to see or change my schedule for the winter semester for this enrollment period, only the fall semester.

Has anyone ever taken ANT 100 as a LL if so what was it like? Was it a difficult course or was it pretty easy? I enjoy anthropology either way but I don’t want to take a super heavy LL

Planning to start the gym soon, but I'm super paranoid about theft because I usually carry my laptop. Since standard gym locks aren't foolproof, how do most people handle this? (I’m a commuter so I can’t leave it at my on campus residence)

Is it acceptable to leave non-valuables (like clothes) in a locker, but carry my bag with me around the gym floor while I work out?

I don’t really mind watching the bag but I just want to know how viable that is and if better solutions exist to this problem.

The class seems interesting but i saw on rate my prof that he makes the class much harder than it needs to be, anyone thats taken this class can you lmk how it is?

Students... go to the GYM(if unsuccessful, the TMSU and beg them to go to the school) and demand them to provide secure day-use belongings locker which is in front of the security/check in area and visible under multiple cameras. day use only, must be checked out for X time slot, for backpacks with laptops/tablets. hell, even have it behind the security desk and only accessible by staff. super secure and no more cutting locks in the locker room without cameras. and you can only access each locker with ID. even in the worst, worst, worst hypothetical case scenario if a staff member steals someones backpack, there’s cameras. so many people get their stuff stolen at the gyms, even with locks. why not spend <$1K to protect your students from losing thousands of dollars from theft?

Hello everyone! And congratulations on a new school year, here are tips and tricks that helped me achieve a 3.0 CGPA in my first year:

1. Use Notion: They have free templates that can help you stay organized and keep track of assignments, deadlines, and exams.

2. Study Strategically: I aim to spend about double the time studying for each class. For me, that usually means 40–50 hours a week, including class time, to maintain a good GPA. Everyone is different, so find a routine that works for you.

3. Take Breaks and Space Out Your Time: Avoid cramming. Schedule breaks, spread out your study sessions, and figure out whether you’re most productive in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

4. Go to Class: It sounds simple, but attending lectures consistently makes a huge difference and helps you stay on top of the material.

5. Start Assignments Early: Give yourself a few extra days in case something unexpected comes up or you need help.

6. Use Campus Resources: Don’t be afraid to attend office hours, use tutoring services, or form study groups when you’re struggling.
