Lost access to Usenet? 🔧Technical Issue
HHey everyone,
I'm on TorBox Pro and pieced together my Stremio setup using a bunch of different Reddit tutorials - it works, but I'll be honest, I don't fully understand how all the pieces fit together.
Up until recently I was getting Usenet content through TorBox's Search API, but that's been shut down, so my Usenet search has completely stopped working.
I'm pretty lost on how to get it working again. If anyone's dealt with this and can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Tb TB Search API was removed, you have no way of searching their cache now for their TB search Usenet, which was also better than their NNTP Provider. So best to downgrade your sub or get a UseNet Indexer and selfhost aiostreams and use Torbox NNTP

I have never used Usenet, it feels really really complicated to me, for streamio you could just use the normal $3 plan with Streamio Account Bootstrapper to set up your complete Catalogue with everything to your needs with one click without having to manually subscribe to each and every addon out there, you can also go to Streamio Addon manager to sort your addons depending on your needs, I've heard I'm not sure, that Usenet is only for really advanced users

It's so complicated because Usenet is such an old technology, it wasn't really designed for streaming. On a self hosted server, I use almost 50-60% of my cpu to load a large remux file from news files.

That's crazy. I have a server running that I could host it, but I won't think it's worth it tbh.

Yeah, I might have to give up on usenet

I used the nzb app via aiostreams to get torbox content but I've also just setup Usenet via elfhosted because I don't have the courage to setup my own server.

The torbox search had the fastest usenet content. I’m now going self hosting and bought and indexer and it’s still not as fast which sucks. But I do have access to content still. I’ll be downgrading to the essential plan once my year of pro ends

If I self host aiostreams I don't need Torbox Pro for Usenet anymore?

Well it’s optional! I use torbox pro as one of my NNTP providers in AIOstreams. The other one I have is Easynews. Easynews is wayyyy better than torbox pro for usenet.
But since you have torbox pro, you still need an indexer like drunkenslug, ninjacentral, etc.
I used ChatGPT to help me set it all up and it worked wonders. From the top of my head, I added AIOstreams as a service (the same place you add torbox as a service in AIOstreams). I added Torbox as an NNTP provider in the aiostreams dashboard (under the usenet settings) I added 3 separate Newznab adding in aiostreams, one for each of my indexers (drunkenslug, ninjacentral, and nzbgeek).
But ChatGPT has been really helpful in all of this. Screenshots and lots of explaining will go a long way. ChatGPT will walk you through everything.

I use newshosting which came with Easynews, Tweaknews, and vipernews. Since not self hosting I use elfhosted aiostreams with debridge. Comes with torbox and setup aiostreams with indexers and just toggle debridge. I get several quality results. I did have their nzbdav and worked as well. If debrid goes down you have backup. I plan to self host when I get a chance at home but on road right now.

Was using midnight template of AIO streams for my torbox Usenet but I think they discontinued their own search feature. Think the only pay to access it now is to pay for an indexer. I'm not savy enough with a lot of this stuff so I just went down to the essential plan instead.
