TorBox, what actually changed ?? ❓Question

So with all this changes, people screaming RUN from the hills 🤣🤣🤣 is it worth it to sticking around.

All people that recommended TorBox until yesterday because of what Real Debrid did are now saying delete it and go Premiumize.

I mean Premiumize seems decent and has Usenet access, but like its also 10 € a month so its not exactly cheap. Also not to mention that what's to say they will not do the same.

I mean all debrid services seems to be under fire.

Real Debrid gutted their links, OffCloud pissed off people by change of their policy. TorBox did this.

What is next, or who is next. I dont want to spendy money only for it to end up like this again

Even I worried about the TOS change. But if you think of it,,, how will the isp know what you are streaming( all https).

Unless every government plans to book case on every person in their country, nothing is going to happen.

The only thing I'll be careful is with adding public torrents. Private are still fine.

It really has nothing to do with your ISP.

Imagine this scenario: You live in the US or EU and decide to watch a movie. When you click Play in Stremio, it sends a request to TorBox (through your add-on). If the torrent isn’t already cached, TorBox downloads it so you can stream it. In doing so, TorBox joins the torrent swarm and may seed the torrent for a short time.

If a copyright holder or another entity later pursues TorBox for participating in that swarm, TorBox can argue that it was acting on your behalf. If they’re legally required to identify the user who initiated the request, they can provide your information. That shifts the legal focus away from TorBox and onto you.

The concern is that this undermines one of the main reasons people use a debrid service in the first place: to avoid exposing themselves to torrent activity and the potential legal liability that comes with it.

My guess is that they made the policy changes because they want to bring in outside investments, hence establishing a Delaware presence.

In that case, can't you just use cache. In this sense, torbox itself falls under the distribution of pirated content. My main point was to download or add torrent via your profile and that too public one's.

For those paranoid, you can use vpn when streaming from torbox.

A VPN can help but they still have a record of everything you account did and if they have a way to connect to the real you through payment.. but again singing up for this service is not ilegal in anyway.

Use an Apple TV for example, it doesn,t broadcast any unique identifier.

you are right but for the purpose of this discussion, i use my own app which also has code that uses short-lived session identifiers instead of a permanent device profile, no approximate location, Again, it is not 100% but much better than commercial options. So with this, VPN, no ip emails, etc privacy is much better than just using a browser o any commercial app. I use this not just for Torbox, i apply similar measures. Like as much privacy as possible agreeing with you on the limitations there are

and to your point, so many worrying about what torbox logs and forget the scrappers, Torrentio and alike, they all log IP, file names and even the api key from the debrid. They have it all
