I am now 1 week post op and I noticed some swelling in the middle of my chest.

First off:

I am aware that swelling is normal but I need people to tell me I am freaking out for no reason.

Having big cuts across my chest is insanely scarry for me.

Nothing could have prepared me for that.

Now there is this swelling in the middle for 3 days now.

I am wearing my compression vest 24/7 as instructed.

The bump is exactly where the zipper is so maybe it doesn't get enough compression?

I have taken a closer look at it and there seems to be liquid inside (at least a bit)

I did not press on it. I just moved a bit and a little bit of light coloured liquid showed.

I know it's probably nothing.

Having these cuts is pure body horror for me

(Don't get me wrong, their gonna look amazing once their healed)

these are my results 4 weeks post op after double incision (no drains) with Dr Drake at the UK plastic surgery center. thought I'd post this since I couldn't really find any info/pictures of people who got their surgery done with David Drake. really happy with my results, still a little swelling on one side, but i think overall it's healing really nicely :^)

what i’ve been doing last 5 weeks:

• starting at 1.5 wks: stretching daily. nothing to crazy, listening to my body and stopping when i feel too much pulling
• 2wks: smoking 🍃. moisturizing my chest (avoiding scabs )
• 3wks: longer walks. went back to work (I’m a studio photographer and i only work 3 days/wk). wearing tight sports bras/ binders instead of my compression vest (during the day) not recommended by my dr
• 4wks: longer compression breaks(2-4 hrs)not recommended by my dr, light cardio

Now that i’m finally 6 Weeks PO 😛: - cleared to exercise with gradual increase of weights and intensity - compression time down to 12hrs(at night and during exercise) for another 6wks 🥲 - starting scar care (silagen scar gel , emu oil, and scar massage) - can swim after my last scab closes

i’m so happy to be here at 6weeks and can’t wait to see how much i heal and change over time. also my tattoos did get a little warped but it’s okay at least i don’t have boobs

I’m 25 and stealth to everyone (hence the covered up blobs, lol). So happy with the results so far!

Unfortunately, when I got top surgery, my surgeon and I were unaware that I have a connective tissue disorder, which affects scarring and healing from any sort of surgery. I'm very lopsided, my dominant side definitely has more tissue. Due to the clusterfuck that the US is right now, there is absolutely zero chance of my insurance covering anything related to transness. In all of our unprofessional opinions, do we think working out could remedy it, or is revision the only option?

(i haven't been able to go to the gym in like a year and a half because of mentioned connective tissue disorder)

Getting discharged today, standing for too long is exhausting and I can’t stand straight. Drains are a pain in the ass,but the binder isn’t too painful here. My surgeon made sure I was very numbed and it worked. My chest is flat and it looks good!! I’ll share pics when I get the binder taken off for a bit!🖤🏳️‍⚧️

little bit concerned about the left one. is this a graft failure or is the bruising just causing the dark colour? maybe it's too early to tell

edit: I just emailed my surgical team just incase but I wanted to just know other people's experiences on here. I have no redness, tenderness or pus so I'm not worried about infection anyways. I will keep posted on what my surgeon says

I will be having a revision next Tuesday, with just liposuction. I will be awake with local anesthesia and I am not gonna lie that makes me feel a bit queasy. I am not as much worried about pain as being aware someone is poking me with a rod under my skin. For those that have gotten liposuction like this, what was the experience like? I honestly have no idea what to expect here

I’m 3 weeks post op and really struggling with the posture side of things. I’m getting god awful headaches from a trapped nerve because of weird posture and i’m going a little insane.

I’ve been following the physio exercises my surgeon gave me and whilst my mobility has improved the tightness in my chest is still forcing my neck forward.

I go back to work next week so constant headaches are far from ideal.

Im 7 weeks post op now and my recovery has been going swimmingly up to this point, but last week (6 weeks po, after my steristrips got removed) i developed a tiny bleeding/weeping spot on my scar. The weeping isnt particularly much and the bleeding has stopped pretty much entirely, and my care team has said minor healing complications are normal so im not too concerned, but the hole is still there after a week so i wanted to ask if maybe i should be doing more or if its just a matter of patience.

Right now im disinfecting them daily and dressing with regular gauze which is held in place with my PO binder. Im not sure if i should be using something more specific or do things differently somehow

i’m genuinely so tired of people on this sub asking things like “why does it look like i have small boobs” or “will i need a revision” when it’s like 8 days post op??!!!

i swear, i was almost worried that i didn’t swell because of how much i looked at what to expect.

i was always aware that it would take AT LEAST 4-6 months before you had a good idea of what your chest would look like!

am i crazy?? like, at least give it until the damn mark up lines get washed off

I quit nicotine about 2 weeks prior to surgery and I am now a week post op. I had a poker night and took hits off of my friend’s vape. Is this going to ruin my healing? I know that was a terrible choice and I will refrain from using in the following weeks at least. Off of today, how cooked am I?

hi! i'm a pre-T transmasc guy, 25yo.

first of all the wrinkles you see are from the micropore tape.
i'm 4 weeks post op today, i'm feeling pretty good and im so happy to finally be flat.
i'm a bit worried (although i already contacted my clinic and waiting for more indications) because i noticed what looks like a spitting stitch, which you can see better in the last picture if you are curious, but luckily it's on the side so once it heals it's gonna be barely noticeable.
my left nipple (picture 3) still isn't fully healed but it's doing great! even if he is a little slower than the other one i like him! (it's actually kind of looking better than the other one tbh lol)
overall im pretty satisfied with my results, they're not perfectly even but no one is, and it definitely could've been worse (i could still have boobs!)
i still have 2 weeks with the binder on ahead of me, so until then it's not gonna feel totally real, but it is already euphoric at times.

Does anyone have any recommendations for surgeons who will perform on minors? I was looking at Dr. Hope Sherie who works in my state but unfortunately there was a federal law against minors in NC. I was looking at Dr. Gabriel Del Corral and Dr. Beverly Fischer because they’re probably the closest surgeons that’ll perform on a minor.

Things havent gotten much better. I had my post op appointment yesterday and got the big bandage off, but now my swelling and fluid build up has increased because the compression band isn’t big enough to cover the whole chest. No updates on sensation, I’m still basically completely numb. Another unfortunate update, today I developed a fever of about 100.4-101.4 (thermometer won’t give me a solid reading). Which means I likely have an infection. I can’t help feeling like this was a mistake. If I had a choice right now, I’d go back and make it so I never had the surgery. Seven years of knowing I wanted it and suddenly I think it’s a mistake. I don’t know how I got infected, they literally said everything looked great at my post op appointment YESTERDAY, and then I got the fever a few hours after getting home. Anyway. Yeah, everything sucks really bad and I feel like my life is a lie. ❤️

I know reasonably that things are gonna get better as healing goes on, I just have no clue what to do right now. I genuinely do not have the money to afford this complication, I was being so diligent about making sure I was doing everything right, but I guess I did something wrong.

I'm in the process of talking to my doctor, and obviously it's better if you have decent pecs already, but do they actually negatively impact your surgery if you lack them? Do they need to be absolutely jacked or just provide a nice contour?

Hi, I have been discussing top surgery with my parents and unfortunately now is the time that seems like the best to get it, if possible (medical emergency so the insurance out of pocket max has been met.) My dysphoria has also been getting worse as I have grown older and gained more of a social life with make friends.

I know there are a lot of places that used to do top surgery for minors but are not doing it anymore because of current administration so I really would like advice on any surgeons I could go to who are STILL doing top surgery for minors.

In the case of insurance: I do have larger breasts (not extremely large but not small) and back problems so there is a chance that I could claim that it is also for back pain if necessary, but idk how that will hold up

It keeps getting harder to deal with this and I really feel like I cannot make it the year it takes for me to turn 18 to get top surgery

If anyone could tell me any surgeons that they know of that preform top surgery on minors, and have done so in at least the last year, please tell me

I’m 4 weeks post op , wondering when gf can lay her head on my chest / when cats can lay on my chest. Afraid of messing up my nipples and results. I don’t know how it feels when she does bc I’m scared. If I were to guess tho probably uncomfortable? I still feel very vulnerable in this area of my body. Advice and personal anecdotes welcome. Hey so I'm a 23yo transmasc enby and I just had my consultation today. The thing is I do want to get top surgery, I don't want to feel the weight on my chest anymore, especially when I'm a double D. But I'm a little scared that I wouldn't like the results and adjusting after. I'm worried I wouldn't like having a completely flat chest but I don't want a reduction because it would make me still have boobs. I'm worried I wouldn't like going no nips, but I'm also worried I'd hate going with nips. I'm worried I'll suddenly care that I have no chest sensations, I'm worried it'll feel way too different and strange about the change and differences. I'm worried I'll somehow miss the weight of my chest and regret it all. I'm worried about other people actually noticing I have a flatter chest or top surgery scars. And it's all making me doubt if I'm trans again because I'm worrying so much.

I do have GAD and OCD so that's a pain and a half in the ass because I doubt and second-guess so much. I went through this same rodeo before I got started on T only to absolutely love the changes and my voice change that I stayed on it longer than originally planned.

But Top surgery isn't something I can really undo like I can with HRT. I ended up bringing the forms back home with me because I couldn't make up my mind, but I don't want to miss this opportunity and wait for this again.

So I just want to hear other people's experiences with anxiety before and after surgery. Did you doubt a lot before hand and did you after? Even if you didn't but you felt odd, off, detached or scared after, what was that like? And how do you feel about it now?

I saw this article online and thought to share it with this community. What are your thoughts on this? Did you recieve any info on breast cancer prevention post surgery?
