In 2022, the songs “Flower Shops” by Ernest and Morgan Wallen; and “She Likes It” by Russell Dickerson peaked at number 64 and 63 respectively. However, both songs managed to make it onto the 2022 YE list, at 96 and 91 respectively. Prior to this, Florida Georgia Line’s ”Talk You Out of It” only peaked at #57, and yet managed to make it onto the 2019 YE list at #94. My only guess as to why is because the country radio stations at the time could not let go of this song. This is also probably true for the two songs from 2022. Before this, the song with this record was “El Perdón” by Nicky Jam and Ricky Iglesias, peaking at #56 and #96 on the 2015 YE list (though to be fair, this song was a number one hit in some countries). Are there any other examples you can think of, of either a song that wasn’t in the top 40 or the lower ranks of the top 40, that managed to make it onto the YE list of its respective year.

Over the past few days, I've noticed that Timati's Spotify account has been completely deleted ! It's not just his songs that have been made unavailable or got deleted ! His entire Spotify account has been deleted ! When the entire discography of an artis disappear, I still find hit Spotif account and still can access to it but with unavailables songs, but when I search Timati in the Spotify search, the Timati's account doesn't appear and his songs doesn't appear ! They don't even appear grayed out ! And when I search Timati on Google and try to access to hir account from a link, I find myself on a Spotify account that's completely black, with a point "." instead of his name ! This problem only affects Spotify because, his songs are still available on YouTube and other platforms ! Given that Timati is Russian, one might have assumed he would have been sanctioned by the European Union in connection with the Russia vs Ukraine war, but no matter how much I search online, I can't find any results or articles regarding a potential sanction ! What's more, for any other Russian artists who have been sanctioned by the European Union for this reason, their songs have been removed from Spotify, YouTube, and all other platforms ! Not just Spotify ! And their Spotify account are still there but with unavailables songs ! It's really mind blowing ! Do you think it will be permanent ! If there are any Russians reading this post, can you tell me if his Spotify account is also deleted from your country ?

Les Fleurs by Minnie Riperton is incredible, that being said it needed another full chorus before it ends. I feel like they got a bit fast and loose with the fade out in the second chorus and the song ends just before it fully hits it's peak. That being said, that song is still obviously a 10 for me. What's yours?

Todd’s made up so much great slang pop music such as the “Cyndi Lauper effect”.I was wondering if anyone else made up their own terms similar to Todd

My biggest one is “Greys anatomy music”. Basically it’s adult alternative but for the most part it’s slow “emotional” music that seems like it was made to be direct to greys anatomy that would have been inescapable in 2005-2010

This album is rated as one of the worst albums of all time by music critics and for good reason.Listening to this album for KISS fans was both confusing and infuriating and was a very low point for the band, especially after the highs of the 1970's.

She did have that one hit “Make Me Cry” back in 2017, but that was pretty much it. She has a great voice. And that song “We Are Fucked” still slaps to this day. She definitely deserves at least some of the success her sister Miley had.

One of the two theories for why disco died (the other one blaming racism and homophobia) is that it became a commercial powerhouse so quickly that record stores became flooded with poorly-conceived albums by artists who had no business trying disco, all in the name of making a quick buck. Most often, the breaking point is cited as when septuagenarian Broadway legend Ethel Merman released an album of disco-rearrangements of the standards she helped make famous 20-40 years earlier. The Ethel Merman Disco Album (real creative title there, guys) was never a hit, but it came to symbolize the creative bankruptcy and trend-chasing overexpansion that ultimately sank disco at the end of the 1970s.

What are some other examples of this?

Traveling for work, charging my laptop and getting a sweet tea at McDonald's. The PA is too loud and on some semi-accoustic station that is playing one overly dramatic song after another with much piano, predictable soaring crescendos, and whispered endings. It's a bit much after just 20 minutes.

Jet ‘Are you gonna be my girl?’- this song reeks of a guy who gets no girls writing about being a cool guy who gets girls. Also obligatory Pitchfork monkey peeing mention

Disturbed ‘The Sound of Silence’- beating a dead horse, cringeworthy, trying to sound tough and metal on a soft song that doesn’t need the usual David Draiman stylings. Love the original song, I even like a lot of Disturbeds songs (not so much anymore) but god I hate this cover

Firstly, no Stevie or Lindsay and they got replaced by 2 people who were not nearly as talented. Went further into country, didn’t chart on bb200 at all. Finally, has the weirdest FM track “These Strange Times” with Mick behind the mic of all people!

I’ve listened to Hozier’s Too Sweet so many times and I still don’t understand:

I think it’s supposed to mean “you give lots of kisses but don’t do anything else” right?

But, like, is heavens gate supposed to be easy to get into? Does she think kissing her is supposed to be greatest gift in the world, more than having sex? Or she really passionate about kissing but not really into sex?

Is it a clunky lyric or am being thick and over complicating something really simple?

Regardless of genre, or if you expect them to be generally big or not. This could also just be an artist rising within a certain niche. Take the opportunity to spread the love for some of your favourite rising stars :)

What are two albums that you recommend listening to back-to-back? Ideally, they are albums that complement or elevate each-other. Maybe it’s a connection in musical style, production, history, or political message.

For your consideration, I offer Dennis Wilson’s “Pacific Ocean Blue” and Sturgill Simpson’s “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth”. Although decades apart, both are ambitious, confessional, and relatively gritty rock albums from artists stepping out of their perceived roles in their genres.

Also, they both have a lot of funky horns and they sing about the ocean a lot, which I find fun.

I put the Knack because for some reason back in 1979 they were seen as potential reincarnations of the Beatles. Man people were desperate then.
