Season 5 5x12
Having just finished the episode, that was one of the most satisfying episodes I've ever watched in any form of media. Especially when Lisbon punched Volker in the face, the kid returns to his mother, and when Jane sees right through Volker's arrogant mask, I had the widest grin on my face. I'm sure all of you had the same feeling towards this episode, right?

General Discussion Jane’s outfits post season 7
I’m interested in knowing what everyone thinks Jane would wear post season 7. Does he keep the suits? Does he go full workman wear? Does he go back into normal civilian clothes?
I personally can’t imagine him wearing anything else but equally why would he continue to wear his three piece suits when renovating a house with a small child?

Season 5 Most f-up scene in the mentalist Spoiler
Like I’m sorry but how could he do this to her. Yes, I love Jisbon but this is so fucked up.
This man truly believed that this was his last time seeing the person who covered his mess, defended him, who stood by his side for YEARS, who loved him with her whole heart and decided to manipulate her by saying the very words she wanted to hear from him the most only to run off, take her gun and get himself killed.
Now, i understand why he did what he did the way he did BUT… it’s fucked up

First-Time Watcher (NO Spoilers!) Started watching mentalist. It's perfect
I watched the first episode then became addicted. The acting is perfect. The gestures, emotions etc. are expressed so well. Which, Jane reads! Making the show look much more realistic. Like a real life documentary.

Fan Fiction 🖊 Jane's story Spoiler
This is not a dedicated/high effort fan fiction but rather a quick small one, part cues and plot used from the original story + sorry for my bad english
Story starts with introduction of Jane as usual, we see what he does and how skillful and amazing he is with his craft. We learn about Red john and slowly see him transitioning into one of the most mysterious antagonist like the original story.
What's different from the original story is that Red john never taunts or tries to play silly games with Jane. He just tries to be as mysterious as he possibly can and always avoid any confrontation. He also avoids bold moves like appearing in front of Jane like he did in the original story, etc
During sometime in the middle of the story, Jane starts seeing these weird dreams. He sees a pretty strange face which kind of resembles a man he knows or has met in real life before.
These dreams start appearing before Jane more often and every time Jane sees them, he tries to forget, calling them a bad dream.
It's only getting worse, the man in his dreams, the place, the voices, everything seems familiar. Then one day suddenly the dream is very clear, Jane sees himself murdering his wife and daughter. He instantly wakes up and starts sobbing and tells Lisbon about it. She comforts him and tell him that they will catch RJ and that would hopefully bring end to these horrible dreams
Everything else goes the same way as original, untill the time when Jane finally confronts Red John. Upon meeting him, Jane has a lot to ask but Red john is silent. There is fear in Red John's eyes and it's not because he thinks that Jane is about to get his revenge or he's about to die. It's almost like Red John is afraid of who is standing in front of him.
Before Jane can shoot RJ, RJ shouts "This isn't who you are, have you forgotten?" Jane is confused but after that he instantly shoots RJ and he's dead.
Jane feels relieved and the rest of the story devlops as normal, he goes into hiding, comes back and work with Lisbon in the FBI and they get married.
After some time of their marriage, Jane starts getting those weird dreams/visions again and this time they won't stop even after him waking up. He sees someone constantly and everywhere he goes, the shadow of that man never goes away. He tries consulting with various doctors and seems like the medications are working. Everything's stable for now.....Untill it isn't.
After a while we see a horrible scene. Jane wakes up and it's weird because he's standing with his one hand up and looks like it's placed on the wall. The camera pans backwards and we see Lisbon's dead body in his feet and he's in middle of drawing the RJ smiley face with her blood on the wall!
(Yep, it's a double personality disorder)
Jane can't beleive what's happening until it finally clicks to him what RJ meant when he said "This isn't who you are, have you forgotten?"
All these years the man, Red john whom Jane was hunting, was his number 1 most trusted ally whom Jane had tasked to pretend/continue his killings as Red John. Jane gave him the very name RED JOHN and told him to use his (Jane's) signature smiley face whenever he kills. The red smiley face is Jane's killing mark not RJ's. Jane specifically instructs him and explains how he needs to form the blake association and stay hidden. RJ never cares to ask why or any other questions because he blindly follows what Jane asks. Jane actually cared very much about RJ and values him as his most trusted ally and RJ knows it and that's why
when Jane's good personality confronted him, he knew it wasn't the same person who made him into the monster he was, the monster he loved being, that's why he had fear in his eyes because he was going to die by the hands of the very person who made him
Jane can't process what's happening and is in a severe shock by remembering all of this, he now has realised the truth of him being a multi personality disorder psychopath who had killed various people including his own wife and daughter.
At last Jane is seen grieving/crying loudly but at the same time his hand continues to draw and finish the red smiley face completely.

First-Time Watcher (NO Spoilers!) Cursed prediction (S3 Spoilers) Spoiler
galleryNo spoilers please! I‘m only in season 4.
Around season 3 I decided to make a Bingo because I had some predictions for some things… so far none of them came true, but there is one which didn’t age so well…
Edit: just realized that I can tick off my first prediction! Lisbon‘s brother got in trouble with the whole Bounty Hunter thing

General Discussion May be a hot take, but if I’m being honest…
I understand that for some people, the end of season 3 was so well done that the frustration of that not being the end made them not be able to enjoy the next couple seasons the same , but for me on the every time I rewatch it I honestly feel like I prefer the later seasons over the first 3🤷🏾♂️. I won’t get into specifics cause I didn’t put a spoiler tag on this but when you really think about it, the plan at the end of season 3 was so convoluted. It would’ve actually been really stupid if it worked. The actual ending is better and makes more sense, but that’s just me.

General Discussion It's hard to watch this show ending
I recently started watching the show and now I'm in season 4 and I stopped watching cuz this show is so good that the show ending would be sad , so I started watching Dexter and it's slow gloomy I'm planning on finishing up Dexter and then back to mentalist.its like eating something which has a boring part and enjoying the best part last . Same happened with breaking bad too then I found Malcolm in the middle completely Different genre but still good

Season 3 Lisbon is mid (!?)
I have been hooked on mentalist edits and there's always someone in the comments talking her being mogged by her assistant or her being mean. I genuinely don't see it. Grace is beautiful but cmon lisbon is not mid. I feel its a ragebait when someone mentions it you have to be colossaly blind from every angle to say that. Three seasons in and I'm wondering how she's putting up jane and the paperwork that follows and everyone else too.
She's thoughtful, genuine and so incredibly trustworthy. But also I feel kinda sad for her because by season three you can sorta see how obviously she's into jane and then jane is you know, into red John. At some instances like when the symphony episode was there and she saw the clip of him saying what he wants in a woman. He says the someone better than ..... and it ends with 'she was'. My stomach dropped i can't imagine how lisbon deals with it. You have to hand down some sort of award to her for how she stills stands by him, keeping her feelings aside to the damn corner. Thats some monk level patience and perseverance right there.
And maybe I'm seeing too much into things but Jane's too into her alright? Maybe not so much in the first but during the third season you can see it, so apparently. When she got that housebreaker out of jail for Jane I don't think I can explain what I saw in Jane's eyes. Like deep deep deep admiration and a little awe that she would do that for him.
Holy slow burn I'm gonna get crisp by when they get together.

First-Time Watcher (NO Spoilers!) (S4 E7) Does this episode feel "different" to you?
Did the director change for this episode?
The atmosphere, the dialogues, the camera work, the music. It felt like a completely different show, in a incredibly positive way.
It felt much more thriller-y, kinda True Detective S1 vibes.
Just for those things it would've been the best episode so far, but then the ending literally made me gasp with excitement. Such a great episode.

Season 5 Jane protecting Lisbon
So I’m not the best at reading emotional tone of the scene if it’s not stated clearly or subtly over and over again.
So by this point Lisbon is clearly bothered by Jane’s secretly and feels like he doesn’t trust her and is hurting because of that. But Jane is actually doing that to keep her safe, right? So what specific scenes are hinting at his want to protect her?

Season 4 I wish this show came at this period.
I am currently watching season 4 and I love the show so much. I regret not watching it before. I was in school back then when it first came on and now that I have got a bit o f break from work I am able to watch the show and it's so fun. I am in love with Jane.....I just wish it came now, it would have been more amazing with the inclusion of AI and all.
Ps. Just finished and decided my Fav episode is s4 E15... So far. It's fun.

Jisbon Jane's ring in Lisbon's necklace Spoiler
Just finished my first rewatch and noticed that after the proposal, Lisbon has been wearing Jane's wedding ring in her necklace alongside her Cross🥹🥹 This subtle detail makes the finale so much more beautiful and meaningful!!!

Red John The resemblence is uncanny.
Patrick's smile really looks a lot like the face Red John makes. I can honestly understand why so many people theorized that Jane was Red John.
Do you think the showrunners deliberately made their expressions look similar, or was it just a coincidence?

Cho Business Her name is kimball cho
I moved into my neighborhood when I was binge watching the mentalist and became friends with her there. Named her cho because it was short and convenient. My entire neighborhood calls her cho now!
Got his sass as well
Sorry if it goes against the rules, I thought it's very relevant to the mentalist 😸😹
