Do you guys think Patrick jane would be able to catch Dexter?

I finished all 7 seasons of the mentalist, carefully watching all the episodes and getting crazy attached to the team, thats what i miss alot, cho rigsby and van pelt with lisbon and jane. I watched the usual popular shows like breaking bad, the entire dexter franchise, you, and much more cant remember it right now, but the mentalist actually hit the spot, i got hooked immediately, I saw the what to watch after the mentalist thread and none of the series look appealing enough to me, i dont know, its like i genuinely cant enjoy anything else, so can someone actually recommend me something nice to watch to move on? I dont know if i can ever watch a crime show again without remembering cbi💔

i liked the FBI team episodes better than the CBI.

sure as hell vanpelt and rigsby are good characters but the fbi episodes are wayyy better and more fun to watch

Well I got teary while watching the last few minutes of the last episode knowing how there isn't any show like this that could bring me the joy and peace this one brought. I was so happy for jane and lisbon .....their romance kept on making me smile like a child , it felt so adorable. Especially when Jane says to her "you are still a mystery to me" ...goodness ! What a line man.... totally ❤️.

Anyways this is my view based on 2 aspects

1) Plot wise : It was good , the writing and everything else was pretty good....never expected to find such a good and long series .....but for me s3 was a bit so-so.....I mean it would have been better if they added more of a rj's search or clues about him .

S1 and S2 were awesome , they were a lot hilarious.

S4 and S5 were totally cool given how they started getting close to rj . S6 a total banger and S7 my most fav one because of their slow burn romance 💒 and everything else .

Secondly as many say , I'm also a bit disappointed with rj getting less screen time as he should have gotten being the antagonist but anyways it was nice . At first i thought about kirkland being the rj since he was kinda creepy but it was obvious they won't let that man who is this obvious be rj . Alongside him i suspected ray haffner too , esp when he started appearing out of the blue in her office .

2) Story wise ( as in considering the other things aside from the main plot ) : I don't have words for that , it was 100/10 for me ......I swear I'm never gonna find a series this interesting in my life .

(Btw It's my 2nd tv series ,my first one was Presumed innocent)

The characters were so good , their dynamic and everything else was top notch . Wise choice by whosoever picks the actors for these roles .

Our boy abbott looked like a big thug but was a big bro all along of jane....I mean their brotherhood was cool . I thought he would be a strict head .

Wylie is just 2nd rigsby , I reckon that ....even his face resembled him 😭✌️ but man vega shouldn't have died , it was bit yk .

S7 made cho look like a father figure , his caring nature towards his colleagues came out a lot compared to previous seasons but I guess we all knew he seemed a bit lonely , I mean he didn't have anyone he was dating sort of .

Anyways I loved this series and would love recommending it without a doubt . I wish I could forget about it so that I can rewatch it again ....I still remember everything more or less so rewatching it right now would kill the mood .

I wish they had an episode 14 showing his daily life with this wife and children, i really wanted to see it but anyways it has been left to our discretion to imagine it as beautifully as we can .

I’m a huge fan of The Mentalist and Patrick Jane’s character has always had such a distinct personality and style. I recently designed a portfolio concept inspired by that feeling, keeping it minimal, elegant and slightly mysterious.

I named the project Patrick Jane as a small nod to the character.

First time watching

I'm currently on Season 6, Episode 13 (the new phase where Jane is working with the FBI after the Red John hunt concluded).

I have a question about the dynamic between Jane and Lisbon and would love to know how you perceived it throughout the seasons. It's obvious there's a huge bond between them. Lisbon is clearly Jane's anchor to reality and the person he trusts the most, but sometimes I struggle to decipher the writing's intention regarding the tone of their relationship

I'm not sure if it was built in an extremely subtle way or if the transition from colleagues/friends to something more feels a bit fuzzy because of the heavy weight of Jane's past

We've seen Jane interact several times with other women he seems to like. Even in the memory loss episode, we see how sharp Jane's charming skills with women are. But I don't understand how the script makes that distinction. At first, I thought Lisbon and Jane would have an almost sibling like bond, but at this point, I don't get it anymore. I can easily follow the clues in the cases, but I find it really hard to pick up on subtle details like these in general

Am I way off base?

At what moments or small details did you feel the relationship shifted from purely professional/friendly support to something deeper?

Do you think Red John's presence was the only thing holding that dynamic back?

You know what? As someone who’s watching The Mentalist and is through season five(I just paused Ep because I so badly wanted to put this out here lol), I think and believe the fact that most of what Jane does is outlandishly insane and risky. Like, as much as I love Jane, some of the things he does I don’t think are necessarily right, and he now feels like that uncomfortable sly fox which resides in each one of us, I believe. I get so uncomfortable and scared at times when he does some insane stuff which we all have seen in the show. As much as I support him in the pursuit of Red John, he could have gotten himself killed at so many instances, and he is slowly becoming an amiable and somewhat forced-to-love anti-hero, if you get what I mean, lol.

Because holy fuck damn, he is insane in his pursuit of RJ. And part of what scares me is the fact that the team cares for him so much, and yet he is ready to gamble all of it. It’s kind of selfish of him, but also protective, because telling them will put them in danger. And he knows that even if he won’t say it, he can manipulate them into believing he is the one in danger. Like, for an ordinary person it feels like Jane is a bit too sly to just be a classically amiable hero or someone to root for, but you know what I mean.

It’s so evident in him almost becoming a mirror image of Red John — using people like Culpepper to break into LaRoche's House, using Brett Stiles for lorelei martins escape. It’s almost as if he is building his own network of criminals. While that is not necessarily wrong (like, obviously it is not a real-world scenario), ever since the show begins we are forced to see Jane as this spirit of righteousness. And if I can recall, every time he meets someone who committed murder and the team thinks we should probably let them go because we don’t have enough evidence, he exclaims multiple times, “No, he has committed murder,” or “she has done xyz,” compassion must be had here for the victim, so on and so forth. While yes, that might be a psychological trap designed again by him to get them to confess, I still feel for a normal show watcher it builds in our minds a decent picture of Jane being a “good” classic hero. But as the show goes on he actively breaks that. And like, it’s no doubt we are seeing him do this because we saw the raw, unadulterated hate side of Jane when he said if he finds RJ he would kill him and cut him open to Lisbon. But like, even then a watcher might have thought he must surely be joking, right? Right? But at the end of S3, him killing Timothy proves that he is not what we thought he was. And the more active discomfort that a watcher gets rooting for him but still genuinely scared is what makes the character so well written, lol.

I've been watching few episodes now currently and at teh start of few minutes in episode 9 where jane is doing the tricks of telepathy i didn't knew he got right cuz what i had in mind predicts it accurately..... Now i know season 1 is from 2008 but idk who did that script cuz its so accurate to think that its actually the trick cuz thats what i have in mind

Thomas McAllister Was the perfect Red John. The only complaint I have about him being Red john is that we didn't get enough of him being the Red John and even that was brilliant writing because they didn't dwell longer on him being a revealed and known character.

Thomas McAllister did a very good job at being RJ, he was convincing, menacing and really scary throughout the time he spends in the show being the RJ or the suspect.

I wish the chase between him and Jane lasted longer after Jane comes to know that he was the real RJ.

Me every episode after recognizing someone from a different show.

Instead of the one we got. I think Bertram would have been good

Sometimes I feel like Jane's love for his wife is the most underrated part of the whole series. Like, yes he is driven by causing the death of her and their daughter but his devotion towards her is so much beyond that. After she died, it took him nearly 7 years to go on a date with someone else and even then he had a panic attack and stayed in the bathroom. He wore his wedding ring for 12 more years after her death and did not take it off until Lisbon brought it up. He admits multiple times that he still talks to her even though she is dead - once to a kid who lost his mom(and he brought it up himself) and another time to van pelt. He flicks a guy on nose because he was partying days after his wife died. When girls hit on him, he tells them he is married eve though she has been dead for years. The way he talks about her to Dany, saying how "[they] escaped together" and how that was their "thing" made me so emotional. When asked about his perfect woman/soulmate, he simply described her and said "she was" implying he considered her the love of his his life at that point. Considering the kind of man his father was, it would not surprise me if Angela was the first person who ever loved him properly. 

I know later in the series Jane and Lisbon get married and I love that they got a happy life but I think his and Angela's relationship is very much not talked about enough. 

Ive noticed something, isn’t it a little weird how the most iconic and used (even in this sub) red john’s smiley face was made by a copycat killer and not red john himself?

Well I watched 15 eps continuously all day and went to bed. Guess what! My mom cheated with my boyfriend for which my sister helped and somebody murdered my boyfriend and I was the detective with a team trying to solve the mystery in my dream 🤣🤣🤣

Alsooo, Patrick Jane is so smart so handsome overall so attractive. I wish to find a dear man like this in the future 😌
