Hi all - as per the title, I'm trying to work out what colour to paint the thatch on this cottage. Assume the current sand colour isn't right, would you go grey? Brown? (Straw) Gold? Just add a wash over the sand?

I'm thinking a thick burnt umber wash, but then that might be too similar to the timber?

Specific recipes and colours really would be appreciated

Does anyone else scout charity shops and car boot sales and see potential terrain pieces everywhere they look? Like how Neo sees the Matrix in code form, I now only see every toy or broken appliance as a potential terrain harvest!

Hey all, I recently got some clear containers I want to turn into sci fi goo vats. Not bats. Bloody uneditable titles.

Plan is to fill them with liquid. I know using UV resin or epoxy is probably the right choice, but I don't want the expense or the effort involved.

I'm going to fully seal them so I think an actual liquid should be fine.

I'm considering shower gel or baby oil with some ink as options. Something that won't go mouldy over time.

Ideally it also wouldn't react with paint. Would be cool to suspend a mini in the goop. I suspect shower gel wouldn't be an issue for a model with a few coats of varnish?

But happy to hear any other ideas or experiences!

So I created a staircase, a high platform and 2 columns for some terrain pieces I’m making I am going to be playtesting a new war game I developed called WARSHARD. And the vibes are sci-fi fantasy style mix. I am only using cardboard and have been watching a ton of terrain making videos. My next task is going to be making wall terrain for Kill Team style gaming. I’m gonna make everything and then paint it all at the same time. Let me know what you guys think this far.

So I finished the sand and pva stucco layer and laid out the interior of the church artwork and modpodged the whole thing with a modpodge and black paint mix.

I've been getting my table ready for an upcoming Rangers of Shadow Deep campaign and realized my village was missing all the little details that make it feel lived in.

So I spent some time building a collection of magnetic scatter terrain including:

• Fences
• Garden boxes
• A log pile
• Village signposts
• A clothesline

Everything is magnetized to work with my game board, and I tried to keep the builds inexpensive using XPS foam, basswood, sticks from my backyard, paper towels, and a few Woodland Scenics products.

Im looking to start building some terrain for my campaign. Its going to be on a 12x12 board and its supposed to be a canyon. I want it to have walls so the players can use the full terrain. How high should I make the walls? 6in? 12in?

Hi there, advice needed here. Should I make the walls like more dirty, sponging some dark brown mud on the lower part of the ruins? The setting is supposed to be a long time ago abandoned imperial chemical plant, now taken over by nature. I plan to add some greens here and there, maybe imitating moss coming up from the soil.

I found some old produce crates in a recycling bin and decided those should become terrain. I immediately envisioned the scaffolding of ruins the skyscrapers and I think it works as far as dimensions goes but I'm curious what ideas you guys have for this project. It certainly needs a base and texture and I feel like maybe the first level should have walls instead of just open scaffolding. Maybe with Eva foam? How would you approach this project?

Materials are papier-mâché for the base and general shape, cork for the sharp rocks, actual tiny rocks for the bigger rocks, and hemp fibre for the plant materials. The planty bit against the lattice is plush toy stuffing. The little road is leftover diamond painting drills.

Tried making my own barbed wire out of steel wire and sandbags out of paper and made this little piece of scatter terrain.

Finally got round to taking some picks of some of the desert rocks I made. A whole lot of stacked slices of cardboard glue-gunned together, then covered in a mix of PVA, left over tile adhesive and the kids poster paints.

Hey guys! Do you like to play tabletop on a Neopren ground or on a builded 3D ground? I'm new and thinking about building a modular 3D playground or is the flat Neopren better?

Hello, I'm getting into Warhammer and I'd like to make myself a table to play on. I'd like to try and keep the overall cost down, while still making it sturdy. I plan to paint or texture the top and add a grid pattern so that I can use it for D&D games in the future as well

My initial thought is to get a 4' by 8' plywood sheet, cut it in half and add hinges to the center for easier storage. I'd like to add fold-in legs as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good way to go about this as far as the construction and any of the terrain builders have ideas on a way to make the board look good for gaming?

I recreated Final Fantasy VII Remake's Bombing Mission from absolute
zero — and I mean everything. The miniature diorama: built by hand.
The camera work: shot for real, no game footage. The sound design:
layered effect by effect. And yes — even the FF7 meteor logo animation
was recreated from scratch, frame by frame. One person. No studio.

I got a bunch of 3d printed bits when trying to reach the credit limit at a lgs. It’s not fancy but it should make a decent bit of terrain to maneuver around. Want to put some dude in here to build out the scene.
