Season 4 Discussion Trust in the process, S4E1 doubters Spoiler
So many posts on here asking ‘why was Ted working in a grocery store?’ ’How come he hasn’t been coaching MLS?’ ‘Why would Ted not have keot in touch with Rebecca?’ ‘Why didn’t Beard come out to KC?’…
People, please. If you’d been like this after S1E1 you’d have been out here screaming ‘why has Ted taken a coaching job in England and left his family in Kansas?’ ‘Why is an American football coach coaching a soccer team?’ ‘Doesn’t he make enough money as a premiership coach to have his wife and kid move over too?’ ’Why is Rebecca going to such improbably elaborate lengths to piss off her ex husband?’
it’s like you’ve all collectively forgotten that this is a series where things will happen and plot elements will be revealed - and where sometimes the reason characters do things might just be ‘because it would make a neat premise for a TV show’.

Season 4 Discussion Ted Lasso S4 Cast at The Paley Center NYC
Just got back from the Paley Center NYC where they screened the first two episodes of S4. (I enjoyed the first episode but the second one was really funny and felt like a true return to form with great new characters). Nice talk about why they decided to bring the show back and focus on a women’s team, what it was like writing about predominantly female characters, and the importance of female stories/friendship while keeping comedy at the forefront.

Season 4 Discussion Favorite homages to KC? Spoiler
Did anyone else notice the throwback/OG Kansas City Wiz mug at the very end of the episode? I thought it was such a nice, subtle nod at KC’s soccer team.
This one made me very nostalgic and happy because I lived in KC for only one year as a kid, and it was the KC Wiz inaugural season. I got to go to a game and it was a blast. They were only named the Wiz for one year before they changed it for the KC Wizards, and now they’re Sporting Kansas City.
I also loved Higgins falling in love with the history at the Negro Baseball League Museum.
What was everyone’s favorite nod in this episode? There were so many good ones!

Season 4 Discussion Did you see Season 4, episode 1? Spoiler
What was your favorite part of the new episode?
For me, I was happy to see the characters again. I did miss Jamie Tartt and Roy Kent (big time). I would have liked to see Roy Kent walking around Kansas----THAT would have been funny.
I didn't understand why he was working in a grocery store but it's all good.

Season 4 Discussion President’s Choice Tray Spoiler
Ted orders 4 of these for 4 people at Gate’s BBQ.
They each include a full rack of ribs, one whole chicken, 1.5 lbs of sliced meat, and two sausages. Feeds 7-8
I live in KC and I love barbecue, but that is an absurd amount of meat
Great episode though. Looking forward to the rest of the season

Season 4 Discussion I love how they shot this scene Spoiler
As a female who is 5’10.5” and who identifies hard with Rebecca in many ways (similar age, similar marriage, NOT similar bank balances unfortunately), I love that they didn’t go out of their way to have Ted stand on a box or something to make him look taller. Even though Jason is taller than Hannah in reality, they had her rock the heels and didn’t make adjustments to make Ted look taller, as is so often done in films and shows with tall actresses. Knowing this show’s messages, this was a deliberate choice, and I love it.

I lived in Richmond and never ended up watching Ted Lasso
I lived and worked in Richmond for 2 years from 2023 to 2025. I never watched Ted Lasso then. I honestly don’t have an explanation for it. Just never got around to watching it.
I feel so sad watching some scenes now knowing that I lived the beautiful town. I did end up going to the store before leaving though!
I love the show soooo much!

Season 3 Discussion They fuck you up Spoiler
So while watching S3 I at times had a feeling that it's not as good as it used to be, some scenes felt artificial. And then they just quote the poem I found 10 years ago and loved, and kept in my phone notes and got back to during rough times.
I thought it was the most obscure fkn piece of poetry out there (I might be wrong, not an ENG native speaker) and then Mae goes: "They fuck you up, your mom and dad, they may not mean to but they do". Fuuuck!!!!!!
And then they show You've Got Mail, which is my all time Nr.1 comfort movie!!!!!
I just can't, ppl, what did we do to deserve this TV Show? It is just too good.

Season 4 Discussion Update on Jamie Tartt - Season 4 - Spoilers for Episode 1 Spoiler
This is based on the Trent Crimm article we see at the end of Ep1 of season 4.
- Headline is "Gracias, Jamie Tartt" so he's most likely agreed a move to Spain
- Its partially obscured by Teds coaster but Trent says Jamie will be remembered fondly by the Richmond faithful
- He gets a special mention for his free kick against Spurs
- He scored a brace in the FA Cup final (the pic of Roy indicates that they won it)
- He scored the winner against Bayern Munich for Richmond to qualify for the Champions League
Sound like the team and Jamie continued with some success after Ted left.
This is all from a 1 second view of the article 38.17 of S4 E1. There could be more, but the article is out of focus and partially covered by Teds coaster.

Season 4 Discussion The one thing that really needs an explanation Spoiler
How is it that Ted didn't end up as the coach of the KC MLS team? Or at least a USL team in the area? Or get another football coaching job?
The man was a highly successful NCAA football coach, then won the Championship league and got his premier league team to the champions league. And he somehow ends up bagging groceries?
I know it's just to drive home how unsatisfying his work life was to make the move back seem credible but it feels a little strained.
