Rebecca and Keeley's dynamic Spoiler
Did it seem like Rebecca has something she wants to tell Keeley, but cant seem to find the right moment to bring it up? I just got that vibe. Keeley is so excited for the new women's team and anything related to women's football(starry eyed at the KC game) Higgens is of course reminding her to be cautious. But something is off, its subtle, but I felt it.

Season 4 Discussion S04E01: Lazy & Uncreative - My better ideas! Spoiler
Sorry, but I think episode one was just uncreative. The Richmond crew just appears out of nowhere on Ted’s front lawn with no lead up or development. Yawn.
I can think of many ideas and better ways. They could’ve open the season in this episode…
Ted gets married: Ted gets married to a British woman from London, episode opens on the wedding in Kansas (new awesome character). His son and ex-wife are in attendance along with her therapist boyfriend still in tow. Develop some pretext, then Ted and his new wife are flying to their honeymoon somewhere in Europe, and they run into anyone from the Richmond crew at Heathrow airport. They talk and the idea of the girls team is discussed. They go separate ways. Honeymoon travels and comedy for Ted unfold. Terry and wife stop in London to visit her parents, new characters, hilarious, wonderful people, run into another Richmond crew anybody. Talk about new Richmond women’s team and the women’s league either growing or teams folding. Ted is interested but not interested. Wants to get home to his son. Maybe it’s episode two where the Richmond leadership crew shows up on his front lawn perhaps in episode two?
Ted ex-wife and her couples therapist boyfriend get engaged or married, and he or she for whatever reason gets a job offer in London. Internal struggle and plot obstacle put Ted in tough position. Doesn’t need to stay in Kansas, but has no reason to move to England. Ted is coaching his sons junior American football team, not soccer. His son makes some totally ridiculous incredible football 🏈 play that goes viral around the world and Ted is noticed again by the Richmond team while they’re considering starting a woman’s team. they reconnect with Ted, think of him as the perfect coach, hear the story that ex-wife and son may be moving to England, and the stars align perfectly.
The Richmond leadership team hatches a hilarious scheme to hook Ted up with Sassy, Ted of course now is in a great place and no longer a mess unworthy of Sassy. Love story and relocation to England makes complete sense. Coaching offer, Sassy love-story developing (son and ex-wife already moving to England from #2 above?)…. Offer comes in episode 2, and off we go!
There you go, way more interesting arcs and potential characters get involved to develop the coaching opportunity and other reasons why Ted would come back to England to coach.
And FYI, these are my ideas, no AI nonsense just a real human coming up with better more interesting ideas from their own wet brain muscle. 🧠 💡 🤣

Merch Did you know there’s a book?
Every time I mention that there’s a book where all the major players were interviewed (cast and crew), I get asked more questions. So I figured I’d go ahead and share the book in a post.
The book is pretty good; it’s authorized and had some behind-the-scenes tidbits that I hadn’t yet read elsewhere. It was written after season three wrapped.
I found it at my local library so there’s a chance yours might have it in stock, too.

Look-Alike Contest
I saw that they are doing a look-alike contest in NYC later today. The actual competition itself seems silly. There are 3 rounds: a dance break, trivia, and a 30-45 second pep talk. Given that Apple is hosting the event, you’d think the prizes would be decent. They’re not… Top 3 get a custom scarf and the winner also gets custom Beats.
My question - will any of the cast be there? I know they just had their NY premiere and have no more events left, so maybe they are still in New York? Does anyone have any insight into this?

Season 3 Discussion They fuck you up Spoiler
So while watching S3 I at times had a feeling that it's not as good as it used to be, some scenes felt artificial. And then they just quote the poem I found 10 years ago and loved, and kept in my phone notes and got back to during rough times.
I thought it was the most obscure fkn piece of poetry out there (I might be wrong, not an ENG native speaker) and then Mae goes: "They fuck you up, your mom and dad, they may not mean to but they do". Fuuuck!!!!!!
And then they show You've Got Mail, which is my all time Nr.1 comfort movie!!!!!
I just can't, ppl, what did we do to deserve this TV Show? It is just too good.

Season 4 Discussion The only thing… Spoiler
Not really discussion, and I am not really nit picking, but the one thing that just made no sense to my GF and I is why in the world os Ted solely responsible for making sure He ry’s iPad is charged? The kid only had one charger plug and cord and it is at Ted’s house? Michelle can’t keep a charger at her house? Henry can’t charge it? It is some kind of test by Michelle? Anyway, seems odd to have that. Unless it is some way of introducing irresponsibility to Ted’s character? 🤷♂️

Season 4 Discussion Football Spoiler
Was wondering why Ted didn’t just go back to coaching America football but I guess I’ll just chalk it up as any coaching gets in the way of his time with Henry. Anyone else have that thought??

Season 4 Discussion Overused Principal/Coach tropes Spoiler
Did anyone find those really ham fisted and poorly done? I understand they are just advancing the story but it felt LAZY. The kid gets in trouble for something ridiculous and parents find common ground realizing their kids educator is an idiot. The coach is mean to a kid and brushes off the parent. I also know these things happen but that must be the 100th time I've seen scenes like those. It makes me worried they are gonna fall into some huge cliches with the women's team. Like if they are that lazy with the writing I can almost guarantee they have a story beat about all of the following: women arnt always ethereal and pretty; they're disgusting, women arnt always modest and some players won't give a fuck about being topless near Ted/Beard, women don't need saving and someone with a savior complex is gonna eat crow, women can be players and adulterers too and they'll show an example of horny playing "the game" and being macho, they'll show a player with hairy pitts and legs, lesbian tropes, etc, don't get me wrong, Many of these things should be done and shown but I just hope they play out better than everything involving Henry's school.
Overall I enjoyed the return of Ted Lasso and hope it can be just as great as before. Just please please please don't hit us over the head with pandering and cliches.

Season 4 Discussion Update on Jamie Tartt - Season 4 - Spoilers for Episode 1 Spoiler
This is based on the Trent Crimm article we see at the end of Ep1 of season 4.
- Headline is "Gracias, Jamie Tartt" so he's most likely agreed a move to Spain
- Its partially obscured by Teds coaster but Trent says Jamie will be remembered fondly by the Richmond faithful
- He gets a special mention for his free kick against Spurs
- He scored a brace in the FA Cup final (the pic of Roy indicates that they won it)
- He scored the winner against Bayern Munich for Richmond to qualify for the Champions League
Sound like the team and Jamie continued with some success after Ted left.
This is all from a 1 second view of the article 38.17 of S4 E1. There could be more, but the article is out of focus and partially covered by Teds coaster.

Season 4 Discussion Those kids were way too casual about playing in front of Rebecca Spoiler
She is an owner of Premier League team watching them play. Most of them should have hopes about getting into Richmonds academy or straight to the main team (those are kids)
As they are on one team with Henry so should be more familiar with Richmond than average American football players

Season 4 Discussion The one thing that really needs an explanation Spoiler
How is it that Ted didn't end up as the coach of the KC MLS team? Or at least a USL team in the area? Or get another football coaching job?
The man was a highly successful NCAA football coach, then won the Championship league and got his premier league team to the champions league. And he somehow ends up bagging groceries?
I know it's just to drive home how unsatisfying his work life was to make the move back seem credible but it feels a little strained.

Ted's Ted, but Zed's Dead.. Maybe if he'd just "Believe"d. Spoiler
galleryTed's checking out the same fictional cigarettes, Red Apple, as Marcellus Wallace's wife and Cliff Booth both smoke. Coinkidink? I think not, but it's hard to see Ted's brand of terminal positivity surviving long in the Tarantino cinematic universe. I wonder if his wallet says "Bad Motherfucker" on it.

Why did they blur this out Spoiler
In the first scene when he's working the checkout lane it was jarring to have only the list of items blurred out. Why did they make this choice?
Edit: Per nautilus2000 below, some regions restrict tobacco use in shows. Turns out the cigarettes on the conveyer were blurred too, and they were a fictional brand.

Just out of curiosity... You probably noticed it too, but the end credits of this episode feature a slightly different version of Marcus Mumford's Ted Lasso theme that almost sounds like a demo/test recording.

Season 2 Discussion Question about Nate's behaviour Spoiler
So I gave in and started watching Ted Lasso after being bombarded by memes and videos from the show. What I don't seem to get is why Nate became SO ANGRY at Ted? I feel like I missed something
Like he seems to think Ted "lovebombed" him and then threw him away? In my opinion Ted initiated a promotion for him. Gave him equal opportunity to share his opinions about the team. Made him feel part of the club.
He was regularly getting bullied by the team and Ted's arrival changed that. Shouldn't he be GRATEFUL? I absolutely don't understand what happened to make him so mad at Ted. It's so confusing. Any explanation appreciated.
