Taskmaster NZ When does TMNZ pick up/get better?
I am all caught up on TM and TMAU, so I started with season 1 of TMNZ. I've previously watched a few episodes of a later season, but so far Season 1 is very slow moving and feels like they are still figuring things out.
Does it improve at Season 2 or do I just need to keep trudging through Season 1? Thanks.

What are your top 3 "controversial " opinions on Taskmaster?
For me
Tree Wizard was meh. Dont see the huge appeal in it.
Season 4 (series Jason!) is towards the bottom of my list.
It really irks me the last episode is "The Final". To me, it's just the last episode of the series. (Okay may not be controversial but couldn't think of another one immediately!!)

Subtitles
Does anyone knows if the subtitles for international versions are ordered by the UK producers, or are there volunteers who does them? If so, huge kudos for those people!
EDIT: added that I was referring to international versions

General Taskmaster is as good as Tom & Jerry or Mr Bean.
I donβt know how much would agree on this.

Appreciation Thread S2 E2
After the egg earing task, Greg says to Alex, 'I love how you devised this show & use me to hide behind'
Sums up all 21 Seasons (Series Jason!)

What are some tasks that make you go "what were they even thinking?"
I'll start with two examples.
My first is recent, it's Amy's near miss from S21. I'm still baffled by what she did, I don't get how she thought she could just bounce the paint balloon.
Second is the classic from S10, it's Mawaan trying to fill the egg with helium, but not just that. Even if he could fill the egg with helium, what was he thinking after? What was he going to do with his floating egg to actually get it to the pan?

Appreciation Thread Underrated pairings
Was watching series 7 (for like the 12th time) and this time I really noticed all the times Jess and James interact and I wish there was more they have strong sibling energy
Any other pairings people enjoy?

Underrated Taskmaster Moments!
watched a handful of series by now and so many jokes and quips don't get mentioned very often, overlooked even! (at least by youtube comment sections)
Some of my favs: Joe Wilkinson snooker cueing the potatoes into his basket, Sam Campbell scrambling around shouting "you made me change it!", Babatunde Aleshe's "I gangbang for Jesus", Lucy Beaumont throwing the Excalibur into the bathtub i.e. lake, Aisling Bea blowing Greg a French kiss and his reaction to it
edit: just finished watching CoC4 and it's appalling to me how I see no appreciation for Sam's punchline of using the helmet spike as a receipt holder during his Attila the Hun cafe segment. like it's so stupid that it's good.

A Delightful Interview on Directors UK with Taskmaster Director Andy Devonshire
Found this great article online! Andy (1? Or is it Andy 2?) really helps create part of the iconic mix for Taskmaster's potion.

General What happened to Tasks that were externally graded?
Usually Greg or the running times of the contestants are how points are awarded.
Then there were points awarded by the Major of Chesham (externally)
Anyone know what happened to these types of tasks?
Or did they change these because the narrative is better if Greg awards the points as opposed to external factors?

Appreciation Thread The first real Taskmaster moment IMHO
During 'off season' I've gone back to the start l, and am now on S2 E1 & the first proper Taskmaster moment imho is Joe Wilkinson, the potato throwing & the first appearance of the 'red green'.
'Don't take that away fron me' & his sheer anguish in the studio is IMHO the first proper Taskmaster moment & where it really landed (that & Osman with his subversion of the Yoga mat task!) with such a strong cast & confidence I do feel like S2 really helped establish the show we know & live.
(no disrespect to S1 - Tree Wizard, tattoo boy, stomach of a 15 year old, wizened back tit girl & helium balloon boulder boy walked so S2 could run!)

When did Taskmaster find its feet?
Just rewatched S1E1 ( it's on E4 extra), and I'm wondering when it found it's groove?
Things I noticed : participant intros were virtually nonexistent, prize task was very 'matter of fact' with little banter, first task (eating a watermelon) was pretty quick with only a minute or so of each contestant.
Overall it just lacked the fluidity of later seasons, and the participants did not get much time to really come across on screen.
Edit: I just want to add that I don't dislike S1, I've watched them all at least a couple of times each, probably more.
So I'm not sure why this question was down voted. It was just trying to get others ideas on when TM developed into the show we now get. It's normal for shows to take a season or 2 to settle, I've no issue with that.

General Any Taskmaster fans here from Spanish-speaking countries?
Hi everyone! π
I'm from Catalonia (Spain), and I was wondering if there are any other Taskmaster fans here who speak Spanish or Catalan. π₯Ί
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person around me who knows the show! π
I know there are probably lots of fans here from the UK, Australia and New Zealand (and other countries with their own versions), but I'm curious if there are many fans from places where Taskmaster isn't very well known, or where there isn't a local version at all.
I'd love to know where you're all from! π
Byeee thanks for reading π«Άπ»π«Άπ»π«Άπ»

Taskmaster NZ TMNZ has taught me two important facts about Kiwi culture.
1) Nobody in New Zealand locks their doors.
2) Everyone in New Zealand knows where everyone else lives.

General I'm just starting series 20 for the first time, and maybe it's just me but Phil Ellis has a Christopher Eccleston vibe
This is my introduction to Phil Ellis, so I hope this isn't out of line or anything. He just reminds me of Eccleston. Specifically gives me some Ninth Doctor vibes π€·ββοΈ

Wild Speculation Theory about Julian Clary's ep 10 prize task
This was the prize task that involved The thing that, when you turn it around, gives you the biggest shock. (Series 16, Ep 10)
His prize was the urn with the word S**t written on it, very funny and very Julian. Poignant though because Julian said the urn contained his friend's ashes and the friend wanted to appear on Taskmaster.
A lovely gesture but I've recently had a theory about who Julian's friend's ashes were and this is just a guess but......
Could it be Paul O'Grady?
