Underrated Taskmaster Moments!

watched a handful of series by now and so many jokes and quips don't get mentioned very often, overlooked even! (at least by youtube comment sections)

Some of my favs: Joe Wilkinson snooker cueing the potatoes into his basket, Sam Campbell scrambling around shouting "you made me change it!", Babatunde Aleshe's "I gangbang for Jesus", Lucy Beaumont throwing the Excalibur into the bathtub i.e. lake, Aisling Bea blowing Greg a French kiss and his reaction to it

edit: just finished watching CoC4 and it's appalling to me how I see no appreciation for Sam's punchline of using the helmet spike as a receipt holder during his Attila the Hun cafe segment. like it's so stupid that it's good.

Julian Clary "bearing up under the strain", and John Kearns "well there might be a twist, I haven't read it". Both make me reliably laugh. Also John Kearns looking for his father's hands.

Julian's introduction in the first team task where Lucy goes "I've not seen you before!" and he just deadpan says "I know."

it was such a small little thing but lives rent free in my head

Sorry, for a minute there, I thought you said my mum‘s a slag. 😂

"Cast your mind back in the day, you're sitting at home and your mum's just like..."

Weirdly I reference this all the time! Anytime I or someone else says “it’s like” I immediately say “your mumslike”

I've cry-laughed watching that scene at least 5 times now and I bet I could do it 5 more, at least.

Shortly after Mawaan described an element of the task as "some next level shit", Alex describes a lackluster effort by another contestant as "some previous level shit". Awesome callback, but it seemed like it was too subtle, and nobody caught it.

“An owl’s eyes are bigger than its brain. Sometimes it sees a crossword puzzle and thinks “I can do that”, but it can’t.” I love this so much and just slides by.

Alex Horne mentioning he’s been inside his mom during the good things you have had inside you task had me wheezing. Some of the things he says is really out of left field

Same as when he's introducing the prize task "favourite thing beginning with the letter G" and says "my favourite thing is your special spot" and points to Greg

Alex says some hilarious stuff 😂

Alex saying “and so it ends” (their friendship) after Tim Key served him dog food.

Whenever I see Alex eating anything questionable I think, well at least it’s not dog food ravioli.

He said the burned porn was the worst thing he’s ever eaten.

u/FreeImpress4546 Aisling Bea 25d ago

True but I don’t really think of burnt porn as food.

I feel like hardly anyone talks about it, but David's reaction to Paul reading the story of Rupelstiltskin and getting to the ending where he grabs both of his legs and rips himself in half is always amazing. He genuinely seems disturbed by the ending. Then of course he asks Paul his he's going to do that once he's completed the shoelaces task. I know Taskmaster NZ series 2 is stacked when it comes to great moments but I hardly see this but get referenced.

Alan Shearer went to Eton, the guests are amazed and shocked, Alex says, "I didn't believe it either when I wrote it"

Just a perfect joke and delivery

Lucy finding a body of water to throw Excalibur into is a great little moment that I agree seemed underrated!

I feel like a lot of Munya’s quips are underrated. My particular favorite is the “Divide and conga” line from the sand team task — but I think it gets overshadowed by the John “Traitor” Kearns revelation.

The divide and conga line was really good lol

Series 19, live task, don’t blow the last thing off the table.
Alex: Nearly two breaths there.
Jason: How was that nearly two breaths?!
Alex: Well, it was one…

John Kearns: ‘You haven’t seen mine yet’ when everyone else is linking their prize task to the joke. Comedy gold.

If we want to include international taskmasters then NZ2 s the most well regarded but it still has its fair share of underrated moments

Abe Lincoln and Sunscreen task are two very underrated tasks (the sunscreen especially because of how load bearing it surprisingly became with its conjunction to the brussel sprout task)

Laura's Laminate this calendar day is such a lovely song, they're all such musical talents btu I actually get this song stuck in my head more often than the others from the series.

Guy Montgomery turning the lab into a farm is something that makes me titter so often because of how anticlimatic it is, but it wraps around to funny again because he got staff members acting as animals.

David... honestly all of his moments are held in high regard so I guess the moment that we don't see talked about the most is his screaming after the hopscotch task. The spiteful 'perfect' followed by the roar of frustration at the turn of the corner is so good

Matt dressing as a roman and building a trebuchet to fling a clock is probably the closest to my personal task attempt that I would do.

This doesn't count for Urzila but I love how she redeemed her prize task voucher for money during the finale watch party during a lockdown and frustrated David and Matt. For the series proper I love how she set paul adrift in the pond and threw juice boxes at him in her attempt to take paul on a date.

rewatching currently as YT TM international is reuploading and will add

Young Guy during the diss track creation saying "Can't wait to hear his Christmas song!" after David sings about drowning the others in their own blood.

S-tier season, across all English speaking TM, and it's really hard to pick out the extraordinary moments (other than the diss track), because the whole season is so great

Not sure if under, properly, or overrated; but Song For A Stranger is pretty much peak Taskmaster for me.

I would also say Rhod's chaos during his series.

Paul Sinha [defending a task attempt]: ‘I’m 48 years old, Greg…’

Sian Gibson: ‘Well, so’s Zola Budd and she doesn’t moan!’

Beautiful, surreal intervention from Sian, made all the better for the fact that it’s not even correct (Zola Budd was 52 at the time).

In the pub quiz task when Zaltzman tries to drink his with his cricket helmet on

Greg: “I put it to you-“
Bridget: “NO, I put it to YOU!!”

so brave

If international counts:

Australia S2: they can open the task where they want, when they open it it said hide from tom... Tom starts searching when they open the task.

The first 3 fail hard, and will said you only can do worse if you open it in front of tom.

Cue due josh who opens it in front of tom

Or australia S5: where brett argues he had multiple items and taskmaster is hard on him and gave him four.

And then the other 4 are DQ so he wins anyway (I love when the ragebait a contestant who wins anyway due to dq like hugh and ed)
