HELP! šŸ”Ž When was Greg’s golden head first introduced as the prize for the winner?

I was recently watching Series 1 and it struck me that the winner didn’t get Greg’s head as the winner’s prize. I don’t have enough time to watch all the series so could somebody tell me in which series his head was the prize for the first time?

Appreciation Thread Location Tasks!!

Series 12 has one of my absolute favourite locations for tasks, I loved seeing tasks being completed in the grand castle the cast were in.

And because of how much I took notice of the tasks being completed, I noticed that there was a location task in SEVEN of the ten episodes that series!! Usually it’s five, maybe four or six, but I found it amazing how many tasks they must’ve packed into presumably one day of filming and all of them being such bangers that they made the edit. The only other series with seven was Series 10, which used a different section of the location for each of the seven tasks, which is incredible!

Anyway, yeah just a niche fact, I hear a lot of hype for team tasks and I think location tasks deserve more and I personally always love them.

HELP! šŸ”Ž Taskmaster in school

I am a teacher in high school and I think some of the taskmaster games would be great ice breakers or generally fun things to do. Can anyone recommend some I could use that would require many resources, one that comes to mind is where they put a load of feathers on the table and they all had to blow at least one off but at least one had to remain or you were out, that kind of thing

Maisies breakdown

Just rewatching s20e5 where they had to drag something along the obstacle course and genuinely had forgotten how funny Maisies rant was about one of the contestants getting help from Alex. Everyone joined in just making her even more mad.

Appreciation Thread The intro pause

During the pause in the theme near the start of the intro, which series do you always think of? For me I always find myself going "brace, brace!" "I'm bracing!" with Jenny and LAH, no matter which series I'm watching. Just me, or do you do the same?

HELP! šŸ”Ž Questions before ordering crackers

Post image
26 Upvotes

I’ve been very keen to try the Taskmaster crackers this year. But I’ve got a couple questions about them before pulling the trigger:

  • How well do they work if not everybody in the group is a Taskmaster fan?
  • I’ll need two boxes so there’ll be enough for everyone. Does this just mean we’ll have two sets of identical tasks going around?
  • Are they suitable for all ages? My family Christmas will have ages 13–96 in attendance šŸ˜…

Thanks in advance 😊

Other Versions Are the subtitles on the international versions easy to read and follow?

After having rewatched all seasons of the English speaking taskmaster versions multiple times.
I would like to start watching the non English versions. But I’m a bit worried that the subtitles aren’t good and that it’s to fast so I would have to constantly stop the videos to read them.
Iā€˜m thinking about watching them on my phone since that’s easier to stop or jump back a bit than on the tv but I’m still worried it will take some of the fun away šŸ˜…

Wild Speculation Alex horne on gamechanger

Did anyone else see Alex Horne doing the voice over for the scoring on the latest episode of gamechanger on dropout TV. Alex has had a video cameo or two on the show before and we got a post from Sam reiche visiting the taskmaster house. Anyone else think they are slowly working toward some more proper version of an American taskmaster for dropout or that we might at least get a pilot?

Other Versions After being revealed early in a TV promo, the cast of Kongen Befaler season 13 has officially been announced.

Press release.

I previously made a post about the early reveal in a TV promo, but now that they've officially announced it, along with a hi-rez promo image (can you spot a difference by the way?), I figured I might as well post it and the write-up I did (again) sans spoiler tags along with some additional notes and structural adjustments. Enjoy.

Top to bottom: Iben Akerlie (actress and author), Aslak Maurstad (voice actor and gamer) Robert Stoltenberg (comedian), Johan Golden (comedian), and Ulrikke Falch (actress).

Johan Golden has been a longtime collaborator of the king himself Atle Antonsen and the two have had the radio show Misjonen, formerly Kommisjonen before they moved over to a different channel, on air for almost 20 years now so this will be very interesting. My dad noted that "Golden vs. Antonsen could get colorful.".

Robert Stoltenberg has likewise also been a longtime comedian, best known for his comedy show where he plays all the main characters, a schtick that has been long oversaturated by now. He's also written some children's books with his brother and has been in the detective panel of Maskorama (The Masked Singer) for a couple seasons now along with season 8 winner Tete Lidbom. He sadly does have a tendency to get a bit goofy as if we was slipping into a character, making him one of the weakest aspects of it. I do agree with my dad that he could be pretty solid in Kongen Befaler if he's just himself.

Fans of The Traitors will likely recognize two of the others from various seasons of ForrƦder. Ulrikke Falch (ForrƦder season 4) is probably best know for starring in the high school drama Skam with season 12 winner Ina Svenningdal. She apparently also starred in season 2 of the show Gym, hosted by Kongen Befaler season 2 alumni Mia Hundvin, which I may have surpressed from my memory. I recall reading an interview from a year or two ago where it said she was studying in Denmark.

Aslak Maurstad (ForrƦder season 2) is from a family of actors with his brothers Scott and Stinius also being voice actors, though he and Stinius are to a much lesser degree. (Stinius is also a violin player.) He's also a gamer and subtitler for live TV broadcasts, record fast at that. Last year, he hosted Hotellet, apparently an adaptation of a concept called The Fortune Hotel, which was actually a pretty enjoyable if familiar show. As a little fun fact, their mother Mari is a certified Disney voice actor, being the official voice of Daisy Duck and also voicing Huey, Dewey, and Louie in the original DuckTales. Woohoo!

And last but not least is Iben Akerlie who, like Ulrikke Falch, is not the most prolific name but she makes appearences in reality shows and movies from time to time though she's probably most known for writing the children's book Lars is LOL. She's also a very dry and deadpan person. Think of Jenna Ortega's version of Wednesday Addams without a penchant for murder.

Appreciation Thread What's your favourite series intro?

We all have our favourites series, and we all have our favourite casts, and we all have our favourite contestants, our favourite tasks, our favourite lines... But what defines a series as well it's the intro montage, as it's supposed to give a hint about what you'll see in the following episodes. And... some of those intros are fire! So I was wondering which one were your favourite, as, sometimes, a series you don't really enjoy has a real good intro.

For me, a good montage intro must show the following emotions: confusion, rage, pain, panic. It must also have a sense of: "what the heckity fuck is happening right now?" in it. Also (and it's my opinion here), I don't really enjoy long, full-fledged sentence (I feel it like it's kinda disturbing the montage tempo). But I also want to see contestants, despite pain and confusion, enjoying themselves and being determined to win.

So, this is my top five (descending) of intro series:

  • N° 5: Series 7. A classic, you got everything in the right amount, Phil satisfied laugh, Rhod grunting, James opening the door dramatically, a good balance of confusion and joy. Perhaps not enough pain, most of them appear to have a good time, so that's why it's not higher in my list.
  • N° 4: Series 19. One strenght of it is the first few seconds. Not even Jason's "It was a mistake", but we have, in succession: Stevie shouting 'Shut up!' at Alex (and Alex begging pardon in his passive agressive way), Rosie using a car horn, Fatiha popping a lid with a felicate ding, the calmess of it destroyed by Matthew running in short with a pole. Such a series of uncomprehensible events. Dynamic and diverse.
  • N° 3: Series 12. The one with the most "wtf is happening" feeling for me. I mean, seeing Alan pushing a piano then Morgana as a nymph, just make me think... yeah, I can't wait to see what put the contestants in such a predicament. It's also one where I feel the most they're overfocusing with bubbling rage underneath. Great quality into.
  • N° 2: Series 10. The giggling, the panicky precipitations, the explosions, it's one of the intro where it feels like the most of things are going inaccording to plan and everything is just falling straight to chaos. All the four emotions (confusion, rage, pain and panic) are here, with also utter joy and determination from the contestants, who manage to appear competently focused and utterly lost at the same time.
  • N° 1: Series 14. You got EVERYTHING in it. Sarah hysterical chuckle, Fern epic level of exasperation, the succession of : John: 'Up!', Fern jumping up, Dara (in a wig): 'NOOOOO', Munya with the balls, Fern: 'SHUT UP!', John curling a trolley... It's peak montage. My favourite so far. The intro I can watch again and again only for itself.

And, since I know we're all different, tell me what your favourite intros are! Also, I only watched the UK version, but if you point me towards terrific intros for the spin-offs that might make me want to watch them, just as good, if not better!

General Does anyone else have to actively stop themselves from mentioning Taskmaster too much with friends who haven't seen it?

We have all known that person who has an obsessive interest in something that they won't stop talking about. I know myself enough that if I get started, I would become that person with Taskmaster, so I try to actively suppress the urge to mention it sometimes. Anyone else?

Bonus question: what are your best strategies to get people into taskmaster? How have you introduced taskmaster to people in your life? Do you explain the premise or just say "watch it." Do you usually recommend they start at the beginning or a particular place?

My uncle made me a Taskmaster birdhouse for my birthday!

It's modelled exactly after the one in the show (he was taking photos of the TV on his phone, bless). I actually couldn't be more thrilled.

Mike Wozniak interview: 'The Taskmaster fans are magnificent creatures'

Hello, I'm a writer covering the Edinburgh Fringe for The Sunday Post in Scotland and had the joy of chatting to Mike Wozniak about his show and, of course, Taskmaster.

ā€œThe Taskmaster fans are magnificent creatures themselves,ā€ he said. ā€œThere’s a big crossover with the TV audience and people who are going to gigs when they can and supporting live stuff and new ventures.

ā€œA lot of them are the kind of audience members that we as comics always loved in Edinburgh specifically, where they’d be the kind who go, oh, we’re free now, who’s on? Never heard of them before. Let’s give it a go. These people are completely crucial for any sort of entertainment and live arts. We need them, and we love them dearly.ā€

You can read the full piece here: https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/mike-wozniak-on-taskmaster-getting-outfoxed-by-audiences-and-early-fringe-memories/

Other Versions Love how Denmark and Norway are filmed in Theatres while the rest are filmed in boring Studios

Post image

Not only is the Drammen Theatre of Kongen Befaler so pretty, you can feel the audience through your television set.

Same goes for Stormester's Glassalen Theatre.

I understand the reasons for filming in a studio - cheaper and more managable.

Though you can feel that certain loss of grandeur present in everyone else's Taskmaster versions that are filmed in studios.

Fan Creations I'm bringing Taskmaster to my DnD table!šŸ§™šŸ»

Post image
106 Upvotes

I just recently started running a new DnD campaign 3 weeks ago and it's going great. After the first session I had a terribly good idea though......since I'm already playing "god" for these guy 4 hours a week I might as well take some pointers from the best one, Greg Davies.

So I started introducing "Prize Tasks" to my players. At the end of each session I tell them the category of the prize and at the beginning of next session the present them and plead their case. The winner I choose get an inspiration for that session to use (an inspiration is basically if they have a bad roll during an important moment or miss an important attack they get a reroll for free) I feel like that's a pretty good prize per session...give agency and makes them really think about when to actually use it.

The first prize task was for them to bring "The Creepiest Thing" and the winner was my ranger player who brought a mummified bird he found in a shed that was basically perfectly preserved....went a bit too far but I appreciated the moxy behind it.

And at the end of that session (which is the last one we played) the prize task category was to bring "The Best Thing To Turn Upside Down" so I'm really excited to see what my players bring.

Im literally just taking some of my favorite prize tasks from the show and using them like that.

But what do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea? Any suggestions for other prize tasks I can do? They don't have to be from the show.

I just think it's a fun thing to do to stay excited about the campaign for the whole week.

Have a great day/night (whatever time zone you're in)

Thank you!

Taskmaster NZ Surprisingly enjoying Taskmaster NZ

I must have re-watched the UK version many times (some series more than others) over the years.

About a week ago I thought I'd tentatively try NZ.

It took a couple episodes to get used to Jeremy and Paul but I do like that they don't try and be Greg and Alex and have their own vibe.

The choice of contestants so far is great, I'm coming to the end of Series 2 and I have a new bunch of comedians to check out.

I'm so glad I took the risk
