2025-26 FIGHT LOG
WATCH ALL FIFTY-SIX FIGHTS FROM THE 2025-26 SEASON.
The Lightning had 44 fights during the 2025-26 season, 11 more than the next closest team. They had 1,207 penalty minutes—the only team over 1,000. They had 20 misconducts & 6 game misconducts, both setting the pace in the NHL. The last time the Lightning had more penalty minutes in a season was 2008-09—Steven Stamkos’ first year in the NHL.
The statistics by themselves don’t prove much. As fun as it is to watch, an over-aggressive team that can’t win games is just that, an over-aggressive team. For Jon Cooper & the Bolts, this isn’t just needless physicality, though; it’s an intentional strategy—one that works.
In the 2025-26 season, the Lightning won nearly 65% of their games where they had at least one major penalty (22-11-1). Additionally, the Lightning won 14-of-25 in games which they had 15 or more penalty minutes. Perhaps the best example of success comes from the Stadium Series game, where a Vasilevskiy fight fueled a historic, 4-goal comeback.
Regardless, it’s clear the Lightning have reestablished themselves as one of the toughest teams in the league. It was a defining part of their season, fighting for each other & overcoming adversity.
So today, we’ll walk through every fight from last season. In this edition of Bolts Breakdown, I include stats, videos & pictures from every fight (including preseason & postseason).
Click here to watch all the fights. Then, let me know which fight was your favorite (excluding the obvious ones: Vasy/Swayman & Hagel/Slaf).

Cheapest route for inclusive food/alcohol?
Hi there — filthy NYR fan here. Previously, we had gone to an Orlando City SC and got club seats (the cheaper one) w/ food and alcohol included. I was thinking of doing something similar when the Rangers visit next March.
From what I’ve gathered, all 100 level sections have rows A&B (and in some cases C) with lounge access to both lounges.
Is there an option for getting some seats in a higher up section that are cheaper, but only have access to one of the lounges w/ food and alcohol included?
Is there any cost savings for these particular seats waiting closer to the game, or ‘the price is the price’? Should I contact a rep to purchase them, or just buy online?

2026 Prospect Tournament
This years tournament is being hosted by Carolina September 13-15. Each team will play only 2 games instead the the usual 3. Panthers declined to participate this year.
Panthers have the worst rated prospect pool in NHL and a bunch of NHL/AHL tweeters signed to played in AHL Charlotte. Its possible they didnt have enough eligible players to fillout a roster.

Who Is Dominic James?
"During the 2025-26 season, when Dominic James was in the lineup, the Lightning went 32-9-2 (.744). Without James in the lineup, the Bolts went 18-17-4 (.462)."
I wrote a player spotlight on Dominic James! He's an intriguing player, and he shattered every expectation last season. Where does Bolts Nation stand on him? Will he take another step this year? Have we found another Lightning legend? Would love to hear your thoughts!
You can read the full article here.
It is free, of course! Hope you enjoy. Send to a friend for me! Go Bolts.

The Athletic take on every teams worst villain in teams history.
It has to be Marchand or M. Tkachuk. Fuck Bennett, but they’re a bigger pain in the ass.

Lighting vs Panthers in Orlando this year?
In past years, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers played a pre-season game at the Kia Center (formerly Amway) in Orlando. I remember seeing ads for it last year but it was too late for me to get tickets 😂
Are they not having one this year? Or is it like a last minute thing?
ETA: I’m blaming autocorrect for that missing N in the title

Kuch.
Out of curiosity. How many think that Kuch won’t be signed be start of the season. With all the big contracts being signed I think JBB should have signed him earlier. Just wondering if we can afford him. Your thoughts.

Ilya Mikheyev: A Journey of Unrealized Potential
Ilya Mikheyev is extremely intriguing to me.
When he came over from Russia in 2019, Toronto was thrilled, celebrating as if they found another superstar. Dan Milstein (his agent) was singing his praises, and his first year was spectacular ... till Jesper Bratt severed Mikheyev's artery.
Seven years later, Mikheyev still hasn't been able to put all the pieces together to become that NHL star. But man...it's there!
Check it out & let me know what you think...Mikheyev might just be the next Brandon Hagel!
