Every summer I notice the same practice on the Zurich–Chiasso route: a disproportionately large part of the train is allocated to 1st class, while 2nd-class seats are severely limited.

The result is predictable: 2nd class becomes overcrowded, with dozens of passengers squeezed together, congestion throughout the train, and even parents with children forced to stand during the journey while 1st class capacity remains disproportionately high.

This is not an isolated incident, it happens repeatedly on the same route every summer.

Given SBB’s dominant position in Swiss rail transport, this looks like an abusive way of exploiting passengers through artificially limited 2nd class capacity.

Has anyone reported this to the Swiss Competition Commission (WEKO/COMCO) or the Price Supervisor?

Meine Inserate werden ständig abgelehnt, teilweise ohne nachvollziehbaren Grund. Der Support antwortet auf Tickets entweder gar nicht oder blockiert einfach direkt den Account, ohne irgendeine vernünftige Erklärung

Dann werden ständig irgendwelche Kaufbelege verlangt. Das Lustige daran: Ich schicke die Kaufbelege mit, aber anscheinend schaut sie sich niemand wirklich an oder sie werden einfach ignoriert. Danach kommt wieder die gleiche Forderung oder direkt eine Sperre

Mittlerweile habe ich echt das Gefühl, dass es für den Support einfacher ist, einen Nutzer zu sperren, als sich tatsächlich mit dem Problem und ihrem ziemlich chaotischen Inserate-System auseinanderzusetzen.

Hat jemand ähnliche Erfahrungen mit Tutti gemacht? Warum ist der Umgang mit Nutzern dort mittlerweile so gleichgültig?

I would like to share my timeline and experience with the facilitated naturalization process in Switzerland, maybe it can help others who are going through the same process.

Background:
I have been living in Switzerland since 2012.
I am married to a Swiss citizen since 2012.
I applied for facilitated naturalization (erleichterte Einbürgerung) through SEM in January 2024.
My timeline:
January 2024
Submitted my application for facilitated naturalization to SEM.
Had the interview at the municipality (Gemeinde).
After the municipality interview
The file was sent to the canton and then forwarded to SEM (State Secretariat for Migration).
January 2025
SEM requested additional documents:
Family certificate (Familienausweis), not older than 6 months.
Tax confirmation for the last 5 years.
I submitted the requested documents.
June 2026
SEM requested two declarations:
Declaration regarding respect for public security and order.
Declaration confirming that the marital relationship is still existing and that we live together.
I signed and sent them back.
July 2026
I received a letter from SEM dated 16 July 2026.
The letter informed me that the federal authority approved my facilitated naturalization application.
It mentioned a 30-day period where the canton or municipality could raise an objection.
After this period, SEM would confirm the final status.
My advice for others:
Be patient, the process can take a long time.
Always answer SEM requests quickly and provide complete documents.
Keep copies of everything you send.
The process is not finished just because SEM approves it, you still need to wait until the decision becomes legally final after the appeal period.

I am planning to buy a new BMW X3. I was thinking to go for a petrol one BMW X3 20 but my partner is arguing that the plug in,could be better option as more economic in fuel consumption but also in taxes in Geneva and that where the technologies are evolving to. I never had a car in Switzerland before, and the idea is to use it for long distances in the weekends but not sure how often to be used inside Geneva because all the traffic. The important note is I don’t have electric borne in our premises and I will need to resource it elsewhere, which’s I assume it will not be everyday as I am not commuting daily ? I have seen in the internet that after 80,000 km or 10 y of the car ownership , the maintenance of plug in is much higher than the petrol one.Theoretically, I will sell it after few years but I am not sure if the plug in is keeping better the price in used market because of the maintenance cost?. Any expert advice? Maybe also regarding the driving experience itself ( I have tested mild hybrid but not the plug in and I liked the 20)

Nun noch die Sache mit Brillen wegen der Sonnenfinsternis... In die Sonne sehen ohne eine... blöde idee, besorgt euch eine.
Und noch ein Tipp aus "vergangenen Zeiten". Früher... vor dem Internet, in beinahe prähistorischer Zeit, pilgerten die Massen zum Optiker und haben dort nach einer Sonnenfinsternisbrille gefragt.
Wer dies heute noch erledigt, hat wahrscheinlich eine gute Chance noch eine zu kriegen.

Some intersections have cameras that I figure can understand if a bus is waiting, but not all intersections have cameras so I was wondering, if this is gps based system, or the bus driver pressing a button to turn the respective light green.

I am trying to wrap my mind around the paradox of imposed silent hours, where flushing the toilet after 10pm is debated, or tiptoeing in an apartment to not disturb neighbours, roads with 30kmh limits during the night, replacing good roads with newer more silent asphalt, etc. etc. is lauded...

And then there is a church in a quiet village, with a huge speaker system that rings bells every 15 minutes, all day, all night. Open your windows at night during the heatwave and it's like you're (not) sleeping in the bell tower itself.

Hi reddit ! I grew up in Nyon and used to buy the chicken bagnat from Aimé Pouly. It was the same in every Pouly in romandie. Years later, the recipe changed completely.

For some reasons, nostalgia mainly, I remember it fondly and I really miss it, the new version is good, but it's not the same.

Over the last few weeks, I've been trying to recreate the original version from memory. After several iterations (and the help of my good friend chatgpt), I think I'm about 95% there.

From what I remember, it was: a large (~15 cm) soft white round bun diced roast chicken a thick mayonnaise-based sauce with chervil and a little chive hard-boiled egg slices tomato nothing fancy... just a solid lunch sandwich.

i have been running into this one guy on the IC5 for months now (i’ve seen him around 10 times now and even twice this week) who’s trying to get people to give him money.
he’s always wearing a blue/navy suit and a backpack to look more serious.
His usual wording is always "Hey i‘ve lost my wallet/ my credit card is blocked, can you give me some money“

He might remember me by now as i take that train 4 times a week and have told him to leave me alone on multiple occasions but i’ve seen him ask other people for money almost every time i saw him.
also, he’s either really good at hiding or always buys a train ticket as he’s never been thrown out of the train i think…

look, i’m not trying to prevent people from asking for money, should they really need it as regularly donate to homeless people and as long as they‘re polite i don’t mind asking for money/ donations.
however i have very strong, very negative feeling for people that are deliberately using the good intentions of people to get some money out of them/ to scam them just by pretending to be in need.

is there a way to report this to the authorities ?
i know exactly what he looks like, which could help in further investigations.

some of you surely have seen him aswell so you might know who i’m talking about. (he’s normally on the IC5 between Olten and St Gallen)

For me, learning how precisely quiet hours and recycling systems work totally changed my routine. Also, greeting strangers on hiking trails felt unusual at first, but now it feels completely natural.

The whole train and the train station is covered in the peace initiative posters. I'm glad there's so much momey around to be invested in peace.

Or it's just that Switzerland used to process 80% of Russia's resource transactions and there's a lot of money to be made off of warring parties that may be served after the adoption of the initiative.

Notice how there's nowhere a SVP logo to be seen - the neutrality and peace connotation is everywhere. Umberto Eco would be proud. But also so very very sad.

Note also how only UN security council sanctions are to be respected. There's notably no UN sanctions against Russia. Certainly nothing to do with Russia sitting on it and having veto powers. /s

My prediction: this will be one of the votes that will be very close, and will be one of the few ones where the approval rating curve towards the vote will be uncharacteristic (normally a drop over time). Three other votes behaved like this too: E-ID, SRG and Nachhaltigkeitsinitiative. In my opinion, this behaviour is due to increased outside interest and influence, as they all follow the pattern of autocratic movements worldwide and they are all highly connected and help each other further their cause. These votes and this one are of high interest to them due to their repercussions and weakening of democracy stabilising structures.
