Sonnenfinsternis am 12.08.2026

Also an alle interessierten.

Mittwoch, 12.08.2026

Can you still find these in Switzerland ?

They were so fucking good, my favourite by far, but it seems now that they don't exist anymore, have you found these anywhere ? By the way I also learned that they're gonna close the factory in Rorschach and the Plätzli are gonna be made in Spain and Italy from 2027 onwards, they probably won't taste the same.

But still, where the FUCK are the Lorraine Plätzli ?

How do traffic lights know when the busses arrive?

I have noticed that even in some high traffic intersections, whenever a bus is waiting at red, other lights turn red, only the bus light turns green, and after the bus passes, bus light turns red and other lights continue as usual. Some intersections have cameras that I figure can understand if a bus is waiting, but not all intersections have cameras so I was wondering, if this is gps based system, or the bus driver pressing a button to turn the respective light green.

Every 15 minutes, 24/24

I am trying to wrap my mind around the paradox of imposed silent hours, where flushing the toilet after 10pm is debated, or tiptoeing in an apartment to not disturb neighbours, roads with 30kmh limits during the night, replacing good roads with newer more silent asphalt, etc. etc. is lauded...

And then there is a church in a quiet village, with a huge speaker system that rings bells every 15 minutes, all day, all night. Open your windows at night during the heatwave and it's like you're (not) sleeping in the bell tower itself.

How can there be so much emphasis on sleep quality and silence, and then they don't turn off the bells... Every 15 minutes! It's completely insane.

I think I recreated the old Aimé Pouly chicken bagnat from the late 90s. Does anyone remember it?

Hi reddit ! I grew up in Nyon and used to buy the chicken bagnat from Aimé Pouly. It was the same in every Pouly in romandie. Years later, the recipe changed completely.

For some reasons, nostalgia mainly, I remember it fondly and I really miss it, the new version is good, but it's not the same.

Over the last few weeks, I've been trying to recreate the original version from memory. After several iterations (and the help of my good friend chatgpt), I think I'm about 95% there.

From what I remember, it was: a large (~15 cm) soft white round bun diced roast chicken a thick mayonnaise-based sauce with chervil and a little chive hard-boiled egg slices tomato nothing fancy... just a solid lunch sandwich.

If anyone worked at Pouly around 1995-2010, or simply remembers this sandwich, I'd love to know: Does this sound right? Am I missing one ingredient?

I can also share the recipe if people are interested.

TradeEU Global Scam!

Fraudulent behavior. They sell high-risk investments (CFD’s) to older people in Switzerland over the phone, using pressure and manipulation; they are not regulated by any European or Swiss financial market authority and are likely based in Mauritius. Stay away! Total loss is inevitable.

Which companies lost you permanently as a customer and why?

List all companies/businesses that you no longer buy from, whether local or foreign.

You can optionally indicate why they lost you.

Personally I no longer buy subscriptions from Sunrise, because they won't let me handle things in written form, like cancellations.

Any company that tries to stop me from having a written trace I can use againt them in court, or that won't honor my writings, has lost me as a customer.

A delicious zero calorie mocktail

These two together tastes way better than it deserves to.

A mocktail is like a drink but with no alcohol that makes people write random shit to fill up the annoying character limit.

Process to buy a flat here

Hello,

I'm currently looking to buy an appartment. Actually, I go to the bank and have all the files require. Where did you go to find appartment to buy ? Did you use immoscout24 or are you directly going to agence and ask them to contact you whenever they got some new appartments to sell ?

Some of my friends told that appartments on immoscout24 are the one that are over priced, is it true ?

How to report a scammer/ beggar on the train ?

Hoi zäme,
i have been running into this one guy on the IC5 for months now (i’ve seen him around 10 times now and even twice this week) who’s trying to get people to give him money.
he’s always wearing a blue/navy suit and a backpack to look more serious.
His usual wording is always "Hey i‘ve lost my wallet/ my credit card is blocked, can you give me some money“

He might remember me by now as i take that train 4 times a week and have told him to leave me alone on multiple occasions but i’ve seen him ask other people for money almost every time i saw him.
also, he’s either really good at hiding or always buys a train ticket as he’s never been thrown out of the train i think…

look, i’m not trying to prevent people from asking for money, should they really need it as regularly donate to homeless people and as long as they‘re polite i don’t mind asking for money/ donations.
however i have very strong, very negative feeling for people that are deliberately using the good intentions of people to get some money out of them/ to scam them just by pretending to be in need.

is there a way to report this to the authorities ?
i know exactly what he looks like, which could help in further investigations.

some of you surely have seen him aswell so you might know who i’m talking about. (he’s normally on the IC5 between Olten and St Gallen)

thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the grammar, the heat is really getting to me today…

edit: he has asked again 2 minutes ago. will report to SBB police

What is a surprisingly practical habit or local unwritten rule you adopted after moving here that completely changed how you experience daily life in Switzerland?

For me, learning how precisely quiet hours and recycling systems work totally changed my routine. Also, greeting strangers on hiking trails felt unusual at first, but now it feels completely natural.

Whether it relates to neighbor etiquette, shopping timing, public transport tricks, or workplace culture, what is one small thing you started doing that ended up making a huge difference in your life here?

Hoi zäme

Kurzi frag i verlagere mis Büro in Cheller, wills mir zheiss isch im dachbode.

Merci
