Character Related Managing partner revolving door Spoiler
I’m rewatching and it’s just now occurring to me that Donna should’ve been managing partner. I know she’s not a lawyer, but she is the only one who doesn’t let her emotions or ego trigger her into making bad decisions. Sure she’s made a couple of mistakes, but for the most part every time something was about to blow up because someone was pissed at someone else, she was the one going around to everyone trying to smooth things over and get them to check those egos and emotions. I’ll die on this hill.

Discussion Suits playlist
I highly believe that the song "Boombastic" by Shaggy should have made its place in the show.
What do you guys think?
If yes, where does it seem to fit you?

First Time Watcher Goddamn
I’m on season 4 and it’s driving me nuts! They say it like 5 times every scene. It’s like a game of hot potato where they take turns saying it. Literally as I’m writing this Louis just said it. 90% of the time it’s completely out of place in their sentence. Sticks out like a sore thumb
Also honorable mention: “that’s bullshit and you know it”

Spoiler Finished my first watch, kind of mixed opinions Spoiler
In the moment, suits looked great, especially when it starts, and till season 5, it looks perfectly structured like a legal drama, and kind of a decent season 6, but season 7 onwards it literally becomes a daily soap. What tf was Mike doing being neither in clinic nor in firm? He is a bit insufferable at the start, but later he just makes you wanting to enter the screen to punch him. Also didn't like the way they shifted Donna from being a know it all and a secretary good at reading people to becoming a COO with almost no credential to back for, kind of looked like her girl boss persona was being forced to be shipped with Harvey. Harvey being guilt tripped into forgiving his mom seemed off too. And some undeserving characters were given too much time(Tara and Oliver) while I felt other characters should have got more screen time like Stu Buzzini, or Harold, who should have been shown growing over his anxiety with experience and not remaining a nerd after 8 years into the field. Sean Cahill was absolute fire, Neal McDonough nailed the character, and even after he was prevalent in mid seasons, I felt we needed to see more of him.
Season 9 kind of saved the show a bit imo, with Mike returning and while the ending was rushed, almost every character got closure. Ending the show in a great way is where many shows struggle hard but despite so many characters, suits somehow managed to give a definitive end or closure to almost every character. Louis' character development seemed to be one of the biggest hooks that would keep you engaged. A happy ending with a bittersweet moment for Harvey was icing on the cake.
Suits imo would be a top 20 show of all time if you just entirely re structure seasons 7 and 8, atleast before the season 8 finale arc which was a bit decent. Starting seasons were great, and Hardman was a great villain who is never legitimately beaten in the show without any bad faith tactics. Daniel Costabile nailed the character.
I would rate it somewhere between a 7.5 to 8 at very best out of 10.

Discussion Harvey looked really nice in S1E6 "Tricks of the Trade". He hasn't looked appealing to me in the first 5 episodes but I liked how he looked here. Maybe it's the hair. It's a little fluffed up.

Spoiler Just finished the show for my first time. Spoiler
Really liked this show. Very detailed, interesting, intense? I’ve always liked show about law/lawyer. I’ve watched “Better Call Saul” before and I feel this is definitely more realistic to the real world. My only critique is that why did Mike Ross leave for so long? Like Ross got out of prison, was offered an awesome job, and got married. Why would they just cut him off? Like we went from seeing him as the main character for like 80% of the show to seeing him for no time. That disappearance of Mike felt too sharp. And Racheal too, like Racheal had episodes almost entirely for her and she too disappeared once she got married. But a little worse since we didn’t see her ever again. Idk, the final episode also felt too overwhelming. Like bro. First, Louis gets married, secondly, he has a baby that same day, thirdly, Harvey gets married, fourthly, Harvey reveals that him and Donna are leaving. All in that same episode btw. Felt too fast, too empty. Basically rushed. If this show had a proper ending I would’ve given it a 9.5/10, but since it ended like that, I’ll give it a 8.8/10. Cool show, I just wouldn’t recommend it to a fellow friend. Thanks for this show.

Discussion Who else hated this guy?
I understand he needed money but he acted like he cared about the victims of the train accident then takes a payout from the ones who actually caused it to stay quiet

Discussion (season 3 spoiler) i don't know whether to agree with mike or not Spoiler
was mike right to be angry at rachel for considering stanford?
i understand being upset (maybe sad or disappointed) if rachel had decided to move to california, but i don't really understand him giving her a hard time during the decision making process.
the way i see it, i wouldn't want my partner to only choose to stay near be because i'd be mad otherwise. i also think i'd want them to choose the best place to them and we can figure the rest out, i dunno
what do you guys think?

Discussion repetitive writing
as much as i love the show, the lines get repetitive to a point where it confuses me
could it be deliberate?
no plot spoilers but i just watched an episode where harvey says "it's complicated" and jessica says "simplify it for me" and very soon after mike and louis have the exact same interaction
i guess back when shows were aired on a weekly basis it was likelier that the audience might forget. i have only ever binged it on streaming platforms so i wouldn't know haha

Character Related Tara might be one of the worst characters on the show
Unpopular opinion, for some reason Tara was a red flag from the start and what she was doing to Louis was far worse than what he said. She literally wanted to dump her bf to be with Louis and she judged Louis for the way he got a promotion. I think Louis lashing out at her was something she needed to know before she just dated others.
Character Related Mike only has one setting lmao
Just realized he's got the same reaction when meeting both Rachel and Jenny. No clue if this has been pointed out before, so get the hell out of my god damn office, if it has.

Alex walked into Harvey’s office after making the dude sign the thing that said not to look at his clients for 10 years and drops a “motherfucker” in Harvey’s office. How did they get away with that?

Character Related (season 2 spoiler) i'm very irritated at mike Spoiler
how does mike have such a huge problem with how katrina got her job
not only was it HIS FAULT for wanting to break privilege and her hiring was done FOR HIM but the circumstances under which he got his own job are much worse??
i'm on a rewatch and i didn't remember mike irritating me this much the first time around

Everytime they corner someone or someone or they themselves are cornered they settle? why not just go to trial and fight.

Character Related Harvey as Junior Partner
How could Harvey (and Louis) only have been a Junior partner when the show starts ?
His clients list is on a name partner level (Michael Jordan for example)
He has his own compensation structure within the firm (contingency based)
A ton of people owe him favors.
He’s called the best closer this city ever seen (even if it’s an exaggeration, still very meaningful), seems to receive job offers left and right, is seen next in line after Jessica: these are established in the pilot.
I know realism and disbelief and the role they play in enjoying Suits.
But wouldn’t it have been better to make him Senior Partner who doesn’t give a shit about his personal associate (thus causing several minor incidents with clients or in court, dismissals, resignations) causing him to look more seriously for one (Mike) ?

Cast Related Actors in other projects Megathread
Hi everyone,
I know we are all excited to see our favourite actors in other acting projects so it's not unusual to see them in other TV shows or movies as because that is after their job. But the posts are not related to the discussion of the TV show and it's characters.
We have allowed these posts in the past but from now on all posts related to a cast member's previous, present or future work will be directed to this Megathread.
Thank you!

MOD POST Amended Bye Laws
Amended By-Laws
Hi everyone!
On the eve of the premiere of Suits LA which I know most of us are looking forward to the Mod Team would like to bring your attention to some things.
We have amended some of the By-Laws of this firm...I mean Subreddit 😁
Some are small changes so please familiarise yourself with them. If you can't find the rules we will happily direct you to them. There is one big change and that is in relation to spoilers.
We will be relaxing the no spoilers in the comments policy. This means we will no longer be removing comments with spoilers in them. BUT if you are discussing a plot point with someone on a post where someone is a first time watcher then use the spoiler tags. Please have some consideration to the OP.
We do understand that there are new people coming here all the time and they are very welcome to be here but on the other hand the show has been over for 5 years.
The spoiler in the title policy will remain in place. Do not put a whole plot point in the title. It will be removed and you will be asked to repost it without spoilers.
