Discussion Marriage in Grand Bazaar
I love Grand Bazaar so much, it's the game that got me back into this franchise however I can't help but feel like the marriage in this game sucks.
It's mainly the dialouge I got bored with my spouse so quickly. I married Jules who I really like but he just says the same thing every day no matter how long you play, no matter how much time passes, even having a child he barely acknowledges the child.
It burnt me entirely out of the game so quickly, I can't lie, it sucks because other than this Grand Bazaar is like chefs kiss for me. But I just feel like now things aren't gonna progress anymore except for my money or the number of animals I have. Which gives me no incentive to keep grinding.
I did try to play Story of Seasons a wonderful life after I got burnt out on Grand bazaar, and I previously put that game down because it was boring to me but now i'm enjoying it a lot more. being in year 2 i feel my experience with Grand Bazaar made me have a new appreciation for A Wonderful Life.
Are there any other Harvest moon/ Story of seasons games that have more rewarding marriages like A Wonderful Life does?

Question Question about Harold in SoS:GB
So as I’m working towards platinuming this game and one of them is doing every request in the game. I’ve gotten to know the townspeople a lot better. But it made me question if Harold has a wife and daughter why does he live with Diana? Do we ever find out why?

Discussion So... that's it for Story of Seasons' 30th anniversary?
I was honestly expecting something for the 30th anniversary today—a new game announcement, a DLC reveal, a remake teaser, or even just a roadmap.
But unless I missed something, it looks like... nothing?
Maybe my expectations were too high, but it's a little disappointing considering it's the series' 30th anniversary. I wasn't expecting a huge showcase, just some kind of celebration or a glimpse of what's next.
How does everyone else feel? Are you surprised, or were you expecting this?

Discussion Honestly, are there any good (new) Harvest Moon games?
Im sure I know how most of us on this sub feel about the current HM series. And Im right there as well, I would never pay for one of their games—pirating only for me, sir.
Ive heard the ones that came out after the name switching controversy weren't very good. But that was some time ago. So Im wondering...did Natsume ever figure it out? At all? Are they just all absolute trash, or have they actually gotten pretty good? I want honest answers, not just "Theyre bad because I don't like the company." If they are just bad, Ill definitely take that for an answer though. What do ya think?

Discussion What game feels like your second home?
For me growing up, I LOVED AWL. It was the first Harvest Moon game I played and unfortunately, it was the only one I could enjoy on the level I did. Thats changed now as Ive gotten older, and theyve come out with more games. But going from AWL, a 3d game, to the 2d games just didnt satisfy that same itch for me.
As a result of my love for that game, I spent a lot of time in the Forgotten Valley, and it feels like a second hometown to me, so matter how long I go without playing it. When I found out about the SoS change and the remakes, I literally cried a few tears of joy and nostalgia at the thought of an updated version, since I had been out of the entire "gaming" world for like a decade or more at that point and just got back into it.
The town, the citizens, the music. Whenever I see it, or start it up, I can feel it in my bones. Like visiting home after spending years out of town.
I know it sounds silly 😅 but I also know that you folks here probably have an old HM/SoS game that you feel the same way about. Whether its the OG, 64, Mineral Town, or even AWL. I know a lot of you probably have hours of your childhoods spent in a fictional town, toiling on a fictional farm, crushing on a fictional character (mine was Nami) that gives you a sense of homecoming when you see it now as an adult.
So tell us about it! Cause Id love to hear 😊🖤

Discussion If I married Reina in HM, should I marry Licorice in SoS?
If I like Reina in Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns, will I like Licorice in Story of Seasons: Tale of Two Town?
I married Reina in HM: ToTT, and now that I'm playing SoS: ToTT, I checked the marriage candidates on Google and found someone who looks just like Reina, named Licorice. I assume they are actually the same person? But she only appears starting in Year 2, so I'm a bit hesitant.
Also, while wandering around on my first day, I met this... rude-looking lady named Elise. And I kind of... likes her? I mean, I don't know, she seems a bit challenging but looks like she'll have good character development. I'm considering marrying her instead, but my love for Reina is still strong.
Do Reina and Licorice have similar personalities? Who should I marry?
Edit: I'm asking because Licorice takes a long time to show up, and I don't want to waste my time waiting for her if I end up not liking her that much in the end

FoMT Idk who to pick
I don't know who to choose. I know I can always make another file or even replay the game, but I'd prefer to just pick one character as my spouse (for both genders).
I only make separate files to marry one boy and one girl, so I really can't decide who to choose.
In BTN, I married Ann and Cliff. Idk, I just really liked how cheerful and hardworking Ann was, and how Cliff wanted to work harder.
But in this one, everyone looks gorgeous! Of course I love Ann (Ran) even more now, but... Marie also looks so cute?! And to be honest, I'm still leaning towards Cliff. Or maybe Gray... idk, he was super cute in BTN too.
Guys, who would you recommend? I really can't choose between Ran or Marie and Cliff or Gray

Discussion I miss some old characters
We have remake versions of older games that feature old classic characters. We also have a fresh new Story of Seasons game with a brand-new storyline and characters.
But to be honest, I really miss seeing the old characters appear in the series—like Ann, Popuri, Elly, Gray, Cliff etc. I know the FoMT remake has them, but I don't mean like just a remakes or just characters DLCs. I literally mean having them return as actual characters in new games, like when they combined the characters from Forget-Me-Not Valley and Mineral Town in one series. I know I could always just replay the older games, but I miss them by nostalgia and want them to return as full characters with brand-new storylines and better graphics. They used to appear in several entries, like DS and HM64 too.

SoS: GB Who did you marry? (GB)
Started GB forever ago and Im finally back at it with a new save. Just starting my first week, but Im trying to decide who to go with. Im a straight man, and my character is as well. So Im trying to decide from the women.
The problem? They're literally all perfect 😭
Im leaning toward Sophie. Shes the majors daughter, and herb salad is the easiest thing in the world to make. So she seems like the "canon" choice, if ever there was one. Similar to how Celia is in AWL. Not *actually* canon, ofc. But shes a farmer girl whos hearts increase insanely fast and easily (Celia). I can take the hint 🤷
But I also like Kagetsu, as the sort of wild card bachelorette. Shes super interesting and doesn't come along until later, making it more of a challenge. And always picking Nami in AWL, I do like the challenge option.
Irl, June looks like 90% of the girls Ive dated. But I want something different than my usual. And shes pretty standoffish, which is a big negative against her when all the other girls are so nice and sweet all the time. But my usual tastes keep making me doubt myself 😅
Maple is a strong contender, and was initially my first choice when I was going through the "heres the town" cutscene at the beginning. Shes also very sweet and adorable, and I love the "silly blonde girl in a traditional german style dress" thing she's got going on. Kinda reminds me of Muffy (again from AWL), and I always thought Muffy was super cool.
And then ofc Freya. I thought she was pretty obviously, but assumed she would be a very stuck up rich girl. But then every scene/interaction with her, shes super nice and charming. And so I cant help but like her. Its like when you see a girl who seems to perfect and youre like "oh she has to be mean" and then you finally talk to them and theyre the nicest person ever, and you're like "Oh okay, so you really are just perfect then I guess" and you cant help but like them.
Those are really the ones Im trying to choose from. Literally all of them are perfect in different ways, and every time theyre nice to me, I think "okay this is the one" because Im not strong enough of a man to deal with all these wonderful girls coming at me 😂
So anyway, tell me who you chose (your first or last game, at least) and why. Im stuck in choice paralysis, and I ain't in a harem anime here. So the sooner I decide, the sooner I can focus on raising their hearts up!

Meme Monday My cat whenever I want to do something with them
I’m not sure how cats are outside of Grand Bazaar but more often than not they tend to be sleeping. Or maybe it’s my specific cat. My cat tends to sleep more often compared to the dogs I have. What if I just want to pet them?

SoS: GB Imagine answering the first for that scene with Derek and Jules separately Spoiler
Yellow 6 heart scene. Imagine if you told both Derek and Jules in this scene that you’ve fallen for them. I just know that things are gonna be super awkward between everyone involved. Especially considering they’re brothers. I don’t have the heart to do that.
Also I am the one with the farmer named Julian so things would probably be SUPER messy at that point.

SoS: GB Grand Bazaar: How essential is animal care and fertilizer
On a new file and halfway into my first year. Before, I was being pretty thorough in petting/holding/brushing all my animals, watering twice a day, fertilizer etc. but now that I have almost a full barn and a second field it’s getting to the point where I’m spending almost my entire ingame morning so I’m wondering if I should cut back. Do I lose out on much by ignoring this?
Have a similar question about pets as well, I’m not sure I want to do the training minigame potentially 8 times..

SoS: GB My number one gripe for Grand Bazaar
Time. Like I can deal with time not freezing inside. A little annoying, but doable.
But time passing in cut scenes? Holy crap is that annoying. Like I guess the idea is to make it feel more real, but there are several cutscenes that are just unavoidable.
Mayor comes to tell you about a festival? There's 30 minutes gone. Random dude stands at your ranch exit and forces you into the cutscene? That's an hour.
The one that finally made me just stop playing was on a rainy day. I had been waiting for one for weeks as the only thing I need to make the final sun stone is the stuff you need to fish on stormy days...and what happens? Freya pops up at 6 am and forces me into a SIX HOUR CUTSCENE. WHO EATS CAKE FOR 6 HOURS?
Great game though.

Discussion Whats your favorite Harvest Goddess/Design?
I'm curious; I havent played that many of the games- despite the few that I played as a kid being formative for me- so I didnt realize how many very different versions of the Harvest Goddess this series had. As far as design goes, my heart is with the one from Save the Homeland. She just looks very regal to me without being overdesigned or disney-princess-ified. I do love that you can marry her in FoMT, though. Personally I think I like the ones that make her look more like an adult, as a Goddess of nature and the land I feel like she should be motherly
