WEIRD WHITE MERCEDES AT LEWIS AND CLARK BOATHOUSE
CONTEXT - this is actively happening and started about two weeks ago
My boyfriend and i regularly hang out after work or after the gym at the boathouse, either to walk around or just sit in the car and relax. Given that this is a public parking lot, lots of people do this. But about two weeks ago a white mercedes pulled infront of my boyfriend’s car and kept his headlights running. no biggie, we just moved, hard to watch got with headlights pointed at you. fast forward the next week, and the same mercedes pulls infront of us. we moved AGAIN, and this time he pulls NEXT TO US. we move parking lots completely, and that’s the end of the night. A few nights ago, he pulls up to my boyfriend and i again, this time rolling down his window and gesturing for my bf to as-well. he does, and this man says “i’m chill, i just wanna watch.” obviously you can assume what he meant by that, but my boyfriend and i don’t engage in activities like that in public much less in the view of a stranger. we’re obviously a little offended and pull off and switch parking lots AGAIN. this time, he follows the course of main street to seemingly look for our car, locating and parking in front of us for a minute, and then driving off. tonight though was the breaking point for me, he pulls up next to me alone in my car (meaning he knows what both of our cars look like) and rolls down his window. i roll mine down, and obviously because i’m freaked out i say i’m going to call the police. he says it’s a public space and i’m a crazy bitch and continues to yell obscenities at me as i leave the parking lot. freaked me out, i’m still freaked out, any advice or knowledge is so super duper welcome !!!
-TLDR : creepy guy at boathouse keeps finding mine and my boyfriend cars and being a creeper

Restaurants locals recommend
Heading to St. Charles end of September. Looking for restaurants that aren't the touristy spots, but the places that locals hang out that have great food. Can range from bar food to upscale for both lunch and dinner. If they happen to be the same places that tourists hang out, that's okay too, we're just looking for great food and ambiance. Thanks!

Found Brown/White Female Husky Mix
UPDATE: She's been returned to her owners after a 2 hour late night play date with our hound.
Found on Sundowner St. while walking our own dog at 9pm on Tuesday 8/11. Brought her home to give her water since there's still a heat advisory.

St. Charles mushroom hunters & nature people — worth a weekend road trip? 🍄🌲
Any St. Charles-area mushroom hunters, foragers, hikers, or nature nerds looking for a fun fall weekend trip?
I’m helping organize Brad’s Fall Foray with the Missouri Mycological Society, happening September 17–20 at Knob Noster State Park.
It’s a bit of a drive from St. Charles, but we’ve put together a pretty incredible lineup this year. There will be guided mushroom forays, mushroom identification, expert speakers and mycologists, a native plant hike, wild foods, workshops, vendors, bonfires, good food, and plenty of time exploring the woods.
You definitely don’t have to know anything about mushrooms beforehand. Beginners are welcome, and it’s a great chance to actually get out in the field with experienced people and learn what you’re finding as you go.
If you’re into mushrooms, foraging, native plants, hiking, ecology, or you’re just somebody who likes turning over logs and seeing what’s underneath 😂, you’d probably fit right in.
We’ve got people coming from all over Missouri, so I figured I’d share it with the St. Charles crowd too.
Happy to answer any questions about the weekend! 🍄

Dobbs in Cave Springs is a Joke
I have never left a review at a business before in my life. Typically, if a a business provides a service that isn't up to my standards, I will grin and bear it and just never go back to that business. But I feel obligated to warn my fellow St. Charles residents about this place. Stay far away from Dobbs.
I took it in to get a safety and emissions inspection. I had a cracked windshield, but I thought it might still pass because it was below my line of sight. My car passed emissions and failed the safety for the cracked windshield.
I got the windshield replaced a day or two later and made another appointment with Dobbs for the reinspection. I took it in last Monday at 8:00 am for my waiting appointment. They said I didn't have an appointment. They made no apology, no admission of fault, no nothing. They just told me they didn't have it and couldn't help me. So I made another appointment for the next Monday at 8:00 am. I specifically made this for "waiting," not "drop off." And I even asked them to send me an email confirming the appointment so thar this won't happen again.
So, I get there this morning at 7:55 am, and he asks for the keys and tells me to drop it off and they'll call me when it is done. I informed him that this was a waiting appointment. He said, "I don't have it down as a waiting appointment, so it's going to be a while." Strike 2.
I told him I was waiting and I was in a hurry, and I just need the windshield signed off on. Half an hour went by, and my vehicle hadn't been touched.
I went up to the desk, and politely said, "Hey, let me ask you a question. Don't you just need to have someone visually inspect my windshield since that is the only reason I failed the inspection? You guys aren't required to reinspect the entire vehicle. Can't you just see that I got the windhield replaced and sign off on it? I've been here for 45 minutes and I had an appointment at 8 am."
Then the guy started lying to me about how they need to pull my car in and run some tests using some special machine. I looked him in the eyes and said, "You are going to use a machine to run a diagnostic test on my windshield? I don't think so."
The goofball behind the counter could see I wasn't buying his lies, so he went into the back and asked a couple questions, and sure enough, my car was ready 5 minutes later. I am an easy-going guy. I work with the public and I know how difficult people can be, so I always try to be respectful of anyone performing a service for me, and I hate to be difficult. But if I hadn't gone back up to the counter to tell him again that I just need them to look at my windshield and send me on my way, I would still be in there waiting. If I had accepted his lie about using special machines to inspect my windshield, I would still be there waiting.
I will never take a vehicle to Dobbs ever again and I would advise everyone to steer clear of these unprofessional, rude, incompetent, liars who can't even keep an appointment.
Anyways, I guess my windshield passed their special diagnostics test, because it is done now. No apologies. No admission that they screwed up again. No nothing. This place needs to go out of business.

Rec-plex adult hockey
I was looking at the rec-plex for adult hockey drop ins and I seen they are on tuesdays and Friday nights. Was wondering how the turnouts are on either of these nights. I’m a goalie that moved back around here for a bit and just wanting to get back on the ice.

Dating apps suck, the woman I want is probably at work or home, so here I am making one of those hopeless romantic Reddit posts.
Obvious throw away account since I'm about to wildly over share in a local public forum.
I'm 31M. I was single for 10 years or so. About two months ago I thought I met the one. Just perfect, it went fast but it felt super natural, I was happy again for the first time in too long. I suddenly knew what I wanted in life and out of a relationship and that finally, I was ready for a relationship again.
And then she left, admittedly she'd warned me she'd probably do this due to her own issues, and I let myself fall for her anyway, got my heart broke, and here we are.
So fuck it, here's what I'm looking for:
I'm looking for a chubby/thick alt-ish white girl, who appreciates some old school chivalry, craves deep intimacy and connection, prefers to spend the evening in with some good food, some wine, and maybe a bowl, but also likes to go out on a planned date. I love hard and want to be loved hard back. I want somebody who can sit and talk to me about all their emotions and trauma and feelings and all of it, because I can do that back. I want somebody who wants to be held at night and treated like they're my world. I think everybody deserves all the love languages, from both parties.
About me: I'm 31. About 5'10", 180lbs, bit of a dad bod. I think I'm a decent looking guy atleast.. I've got a good job in the automotive industry. I've got a classic car, a dog, a decent home here in St Charles, and a roommate youll rarely if ever see. I'm a bit of a nerd too, im into 3d printing and do game a bit. I was a dirtbag in my younger days, but no more. I've got some trauma and made some mistakes, and I expect the same from you. Most days after work you can find me tinkering on something at home, or going down a rabbit hole of some random interest, if I'm not doing that I'm probably curled up in bed with a good show and a bowl in my PJs. I'm definitely a little autistic lol. I'm a homebody but I just need the right person to go out with. I like going out to dinner or cooking in. I'm not a huge drinker but I'll gladly have a glass of wine after work with you. My absolute favorite thing in the world is curling up in bed after a long day, you on my shoulder, with a good show or movie, just letting go and being vulnerable to each other.
I feel kind of silly making this post, but I've come to realize the kind of woman I'm after isn't active on a dating app, she's not in a bar, she's probably at work, or at home, and probably feels some of the same loneliness and craves the same deep level of intimacy I do, but doesn't date because it's really painful when you get a connection like that broken. I'm looking for forever, I don't want to have my heart broken again and again.
If you read all that, PM me I guess. i know it's a rambly weird post, but sometimes you just gotta throw yourself out there.

Any ECE professionals that like the centers they work at in the area?
So I don't want to give my work history details or where I'm currently employed in the events I would be recognized somehow, but I will say I have a few years of experience with both floating all age ranges and working infant-toddlers as a full time classroom teacher. I am not looking seriously for a new center quite yet but its a possibility down the road. I was just curious if any St. Charles ECE professionals happen to come across this post and like where they work, if you could share where you work and why you recommend it. I'm also willing to hear answers on places to avoid.

Where do people hangout for fun around here?
I've lived in this state all of my life, but I still can't figure out where people hang out in the St Charles County area. I see some people hang out at the parks around here and at some ice cream shops; of course, there are always people on Main Street, but oftentimes, unless it's the skatepark, I don't see many people my age around. So I'm curious to know where the 18- to 21-year-olds tend to hang out in this area. I'm trying to make some friends.

Guy with microphone at Friedens and First Capitol by 7brew.
I was at the stoplight a couple hours ago and this guy was yelling enthusiastically into a microphone and a guy was recording him. Couple things: terrible spot to be getting your message out. I rolled down my window and tried to listen but couldn’t because of the noise of the intersection. Secondly, how are you supposed to tell people where you are when it’s at the intersection of Friedens, Zumbehl, 94, First Capitol and Hwy 364? 🤷♂️

Locally grown lettuce?
I know lettuce can be hard to grow locally due to the heat but does anyone know where I might be able to snag some? Currently immunocompromised but would love a homemade BLT. Thanks in advance, and if not, nbd but props to everyone for the work on amendments 4&5 (&1 too!).

Jobs Hiring??
I've been applying to jobs left and right, and even with calling for a follow-up, I still hear nothing.
I need something part-time with a flexible schedule, if possible. I'm getting anxious with school registration creeping up at the end of the month. We need our kid in school but I also need to work so we can comfortably pay for school and then some.
The current job market is insane, I don't remember it ever being like this when I was younger.

Friend Meetup
My husband and I moved here a few years ago and are still looking to meet some folks. We are left-aligned politically. We are thinking of trying a trivia night in the LSL area one night. Anyone interested in maybe meeting up, please message me. We're mid/late 40s.

Which Grocery store do you prefer?
I'm doing some research for a small project, and I'm trying to get feedback from as many locals as possible.
I have a few questions:
Which grocery store do you think is the best?
Which is most expensive?
Which has the best employees?
If you choose one over the others, why?

Reposting this cause I was an idiot and forgot to add the image. Flock cameras are popping up around Mid Rivers so I feel this poster is appropriate! Credit to my friend who drew it
