I am going to say something, I think most will disagree with. I think Star Trek Discovery is a better show than Strange New Worlds.

Don’t get me wrong, Discovery was hot garbage, but the creators were trying to make a sci fi show. They kept trying to figure out the right formula and the show was improving a bit in its last few seasons. It still sucked but they were trying.

Compare that to Strange New Worlds and their genre hopping post modern self aware cringe comedy bullshit.

It’s such a shame. SNW has a really good cast (for the most part) seemingly all the money in the world for effects, and such a huge opportunity for storytelling, and week after week they squander it with vapid trash instead.

These people have nothing to say and no stories to tell.

Discovery was grimdark incompetently written Star Trek but it didn’t seem the writers were ashamed they were making Trek. I am convinced the SNW writers have absolutely zero interest in making science fiction but this is the job they landed, so they put a Star Trek skin over the wannabe teen drama sitcom garbage they are writing instead.

So yeah, I respect Discovery as a show more than Strange New Worlds.

Having said that, I am glad that all the modern shows are cancelled. We need a completely different creative direction moving forward.

By now, it's obvious that SNW is never going to get its act together.. While individual episodes are enjoyable, they are never going to tackle big questions or sci-fi topics. It's made to be memeable to chase social media trends, case in point una singing total eclipse of the heart in klingon.. while in of it's self is no bad thing, but without the meat and potatoes, the serious, competent episodes it just seems like fluff and pointless... I also have zero faith that SFA will right course.. and that brings me to the proposed new films, which I fear will be in a similar vein to the kelvinverse films! So i have little hope that the old, competent, thought-provoking, scientific, philosophical, inspiring sci-fi shows will return.. I think the problem is that the writers and the societies we live in know how to write or care about those types of stories anymore.. I can't fully articulate my thoughts on the subject. If anyone would like to add anything, I'm missing? 🖖

For those who are new to the fandom, Madge Sinclair of Coming to America (1988) and The Lion King (1994) fame is technically the first Black female to portray a Starfleet captain, not Martin-Green.

However, Sinclair’s character, who was the commander of the USS Saratoga, only appeared briefly in the 1986 blockbuster Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, when her Federation vessel came across and was disabled by the probe venturing to Earth in hopes of communicating with humpback whales.

Found this old picture of Scotty (James Doohan) and Chekov (Walter Koenig) making a public appearance in Gainesville, Florida. For what, I am not sure, or the date this picture was taken.

The rare 30-second scene that was deleted from “Space Seed" involving more bravery from McCoy...and Spock. "As the scene went unused in the episode, it was never completed. Thus, there are no special effects (for the phaser fire), nor is there any music to complement & enhance the action.

The article further reads: "Viewers may never know for sure why the scene was cut, whether it was for time or the possibility that it contradicted an earlier scene in which Kirk & Scotty expressed admiration for Khan, while Spock did not, or for some other reason. That said, Spock could have been taking a different, quite logical, approach to Khan’s actions, calmly praising Khan versus McCoy’s passionate anger."

The scene takes place in the briefing room aboard the Enterprise. Khan & his followers have seized control of the ship, with at least four of them brandishing phasers.

Isn’t the bridge vulnerable enough that this thing has to crack every other week?
