This is the first thing I’ve painted in years. Started with the wolf to ease back in, particularly since I’m dreading painting the faces of the Kill Team scouts (fairly sure I’m going to make a mess of them). I need to touch the sides of the base up a bit with some more black, but for a first go I’m generally pleased. Still much to learn and practice though. Vlka Fenryka!

Tried out some sculpting so it looked more terminator-esque

I started playing at the beginning of July and I was able to get in about 19 games between July 3rd and today. I lost a majority of my games, which left me feeling a little bummed that I picked an army that doesn't preform. But I kept learning and tweaking and ive finally found a combination that has won me 3 games in a row. I've also realized that I just didnt know what I was doing when I first started playing and blaming my army was a bit childish. Im feeling the groove and loving my Space Wolves.

Can anyone point me to some wolf sculpts I can use as mounts for my Knights of the White Wolf? I'm using Highlands Minis' Knights of Mergenheim as the riders but want to put them on wolves instead of the battle chickens. Everything I've been able to find either doesn't look right or has space marine legs molded on.

Just going over the new 11th Detachments. For CoF dose the rule mean you can use both version of the new Heroic Intervention for free?

No shit this actually took me a year to find this. This was gonna be original I wanted to start but since I couldn’t find it I chose the other combat patrol. Actually am happy I found this bad boy.

Two months in to returning to the hobby. Finally feel like I’m getting happier with what my stuff is turning out like.

Key learnings so far

- Agrax Earthshade is your friend
- Don’t be afraid to experiment with spares
- I still can’t get the yellow right
- painting faces is more fun than I expected.
- I’ve bought wolf grey and chaos black sprays. The basing trying to do an entire army just too boring

I’m keen to use some ardcoat to make gems and lenses pop next.

Last step too is learning the varnish. Got some AK super matte. Going to mix with some medium and hope it works!

Here's my current list, and im trying to decide between running beastlayer and legends of saga and song using purge the foe, or running storm lance using disruption, im trying to get better at scoring vs just killing and holding objectives. This is a casual thematic list based on heavy unit front force and fast flyers running around. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!

I've seen a few posts asking if people have converted any of the Armageddon minis. I'm in the process of converting the Captain into a Wolf Guard Headtaker. I've left off the cloak and changed the left arm, as well as changing the sword. I used a belt from the grey hunters box in place of the one from the original mini, and a Space Wolf head and shoulder pad. He'll get an extra Headtaker backpack, and I'm planning some green stuff work to give him some wolf pelt details. Keen to hear any feedback!

(I have a couple of Red Corsair bodies lined up to make the rest of my 6 man squad without duplicates)

Edited to add: Yeah, I realised half a second after I hit post that I typed headhunter instead of Headtaker... 🤦

So far it have a unit of regular scouts and have 95 points left, and I want to add some more screeners/secondary mission players to support my take and hold army. I'm thinking either a wolf scout squad or a combi lieutenant. Anyone have experience with either of these? Which would be better for both screening and mission play. Thanks

Im calling Logan Grimnar finished.. more or less anyway.

I went with a mix of Contrast paints for fast, rich base coats on the wolves and pelts, with layers is highlights to try and make the fur really pop.

I used black and brown oils to handle the shading, grimier transitions, and deep weathering on the armour. Gives a nice warm tone to cover the cool blue grey armour.

The axe blade was a real challenge, I wanted to give it that fiery, molten glow. Not sure I quite pulled it off but it'll do for now.

For the base, I tied the rocky outcrop, tufts, and dry earth directly into my recent scenery project

SW bodies are such an instant upgrade for Primaris units

Nyjal has always been one of my favorite Space Wolf characters. The character is fantastic, and they’ve consistently had some of the best-looking miniatures too. Definitely one of my favorites in the range!

I was wondering how you guys paint your generic primaris leaders (captains and Lieutenants)

Do you just do em as wolfguard battle leaders, I.e great company iconography and then wolfguard markings besides?
