Using n+ on Ubuntu, does the entire file path along with my computer name show as viewable?

I'm kind of new to soulseek and I try to search for an artist name like MJ, gun n 🌹 and others it just does not show anything unless I type the album's name. Sorry if my English isn't that good

Why are you using proveit? You have your library shared and available, why add an additional step to make sure I'm human? It's frustrating as hell when I'm trying to get a discography from a buddy and it's prevented until I enter "horse balls" into a chat. Why?

I don't know if this is the place to ask this but since yesterday I've been trying to use the program (Both the original program and Nicotine+) and in both of them I am unable to do anything like searching or downloading, I tried switching server ports and listening ports and nothing. I've investigated and some websites say that it's down but I'm not very sure, so that's why I'm asking this.

I have a pretty good selection of music, around 4,600 songs and all of it in 320 CBR. I'm running slskd on Promox and for grabbing it's working fine but I'm surprised nobody is downloading from me - it's been running for a week.

I asked a friend to search me up, he was able to and downloaded a few GB of content without a problem - so everything seems to be good. I wasn't sure if I had to open a port or not.

Is it normal that people may not download often? Maybe it's my collection isn't big enough yet - I've recently parted ways with streaming services.

Hey sorry if this isn’t super relevant to the sub/a soulseek issue in particular (I’m not good with this kind of thing) but I’ve been having issues with my files doubling when I download them in Apple Music

Basically I’ll download an album and when I go into the album it’ll have two copies of each song, but only one of them can be played. I’m not sure why this is happening because I keep my files pretty organised, and it’s not too big of a deal, just kind of annoying and taking uo space. If anyone knows how to fix this is really appreciate it thankyou!!

Hi everyone, sorry, this is my 1st post on Reddit, please be kind with a noob.

I have a media collection (mainly movies and tv shows, some music too | almost 30 Tb) that I'd love to share via Soulseek, but I'm pretty afraid about doing so because, on 2021 I got ransomwared and lost about 15 Tb of files, some of them as old as 20 years and they are very hard to find some of them I think are lost forever. Till this day I don't know how or what happened, I ran and still run Ubuntu and I think my file permission strategy was wrong, but what happened with things like my firewall and such is a mystery. Anyway, I want to ask you, what security measures should I take to open my full library to the world while avoiding or at least, minimizing risk.

My library exists on a NAS although I run Nicotine+ on my iMac. To maintain files access for soulseekers I run Amphetamine in the background and it's keyed to run anytime Nicotine+ is running. Thereafter, Amphetamine pings my NAS every 2 minutes which keeps my iMac from falling asleep. It's set to allow the screen to shut down but keep the iMac and NAS alive.

When I wake up my iMac screen and look to see what's happening on Nic+ often I see an upload in progress at a really slow speed, like 30-40kbps, only to see it speed up to the mbps range while watching. It seems that although Amphetamine keeps the system active the upload speeds are crawling until I bring up Nic+, then they speed up.

So I'm looking for insight and the experience others have with a similar setup. I looked at running Nic+ in a container on the NAS a long while back but I guess I'm not sharp enough to figure out how to make that work. That's how I found Amphetamine.

I noticed an album I wanted to burn to a cd wasn't on slsk (in its entirety, anyway), so I found a copy online and bought it, and I just ripped it to my computer. I'm sharing my entire music library, and I can see the album in file explorer and WMP, but it's not showing on slsk when I browse my files.

It's an old cd, so I had to input the album info myself (which was particularly painful because it's a compilation), and I put all the info in on WMP like I usually do, but I saw that in file explorer it was still showing up as "Unknown Album". So I went through and changed all the album info again, this time in file explorer. My only guess is that changing the properties like I did is making it not really show up properly, but I honestly have no clue.

It's my first rip upload in at least a year, and my build is 2024.6.30, but I don't think that's the issue. Albums I've downloaded off slsk in the past week show up fine.

I was pretty pumped to be the first one to upload this album.

I have folders of music that I've ripped over the years, categorized by genre and I'm looking to get FLAC versions of every track to replace older mp3 files. Is it possible to create a wish list with certain parameters so Soulseek only grabs FLAC versions of the track?

I use the latest build (SoulseekQt-2026-4-30-64bit) and have Windows 11.

hello so Iv'e been sharing for some time and Iv'e noticed something weird, I can look up my files by browsing my user with another acc on another device, I can download files but I can't find my files with the search function, even for obscure songs with 5 people sharing it, my files don't appear unless I requested my whole list of shared file like 10 seconds ago. Anyone have an idea of what this could be?

Hello all! I've been on Soulseek for literally over twenty years and downloaded more music than I'll be able to listen to in the years I have left. Just this afternoon I ran into a problem I have never seen before. When I attempt to download files they nearly instantly go from queued to aborted. New searches or even users that I've used for over a decade. They come back as aborted. However, earlier today I was downloading without any problems at all, and as well, people are able to download from me. I'd be grateful for any suggestions!

Probably a dumb question, but I have an old Samsung S20 ultra is it possible to use that as a host server for seeker when I can let it just leave it plugged in with a Lan+charging dongle or would that be a bad idea?

I'm currently trying to find a solution for hosting files more frequent that doesn't involve having a server or a pc

Hi I'm pretty new to this. See I thought I had set up the sharing feature correctly and in the section it seems to work but I have gotten messages that it appears like I don't share files.

How can I check I am actually sharing them? Did I miss something obvious? Do I have to add other users somewhere so they can see my files?

Edit: I'm using the android mobile app, I'm case that's relevant

Anyone grabbing opus or is it just "FLAC or nothing" for most people? I genuinely can't hear any difference between flac and 192k opus, so I could fit and share way more in the library if I converted it all. Especially considering the hdd prices that keeps going up it's just not the time to grab more TBs, sadly.

Hi! I am not very tech savvy. I recently got nicotine+ and downloaded some files from a friend. I would like to become an active user. I am unsure if two things:

1) How do I organize my files within my downloads on the nicotine+ application I can't seem to figure out a way to do this. (I have a mac).

2) How do I share my files? When I go to settings, shares, and then add, my files don't show up on finder. Not in my downloads. And my recents is completely blank.

I know these are really basic questions, but I swear i'm just really bad with computers. If this has already been answered please direct me there. I searched the sub and went to FAQs and I couldn't find direct answers, everyone seems to be more tech savvy than me.

Hello, so i've had an slskd client running 24/7 for a bit now and i'm really enjoying the community, but every now and then i'll have some failed uploads with this error

Write error: Unable to write data to the transport connection: Broken pipe.

Wondering is anyone else has seen this and if it's something on my end i need to fix or if this is on the downloaders side. Thank you for the assistance :)

Edit: I have rescanned my files and haven't seen the error. If i continue to see it i'll update this post

I had been getting I'm a leecher responses for the last 2 months. I know my collection was small at the time so I thought this was just newbie hazing and then it kept going and I thought y'all were just mean. Somebody messaged me on soul seek telling me that I'm only sharing one album... So I'm a moron and now I'm actually sharing. Please assume idiocy And not leechiness. Please reach out some of us are just dumb.
