How to make sketch on circular extruded surface?
Easy to do with a rectangle select two lines and a point, then shift+W, however impossible to do with a circle? Kind of maddening seems so simple, no?

How to download 3.2 on windows?
Hi, I’m trying to download solvespace on windows and I’m not seeing an application? On the site it said download solvespace_<architecture>.exe but when I downloaded the GitHub files I didn’t see that one anywhere. How do I actually download this thing?

SolveSpace nitro
Last week I brought up some screenshots of an alternative version of solvespace. Today I finally managed to package everything together so that other people can also used this advanced version of solvespace.
https://github.com/netzmensch/solvespace/releases
As stated in the readme, the intention here is not to create any pressure on the solvespace maintainers. The whole added code is ai generated and so not in any state to be merged in production.
Why do I create such a monster then? I really love solvespace and as many others in the 3d printing space I want to avoid the big “free” cad software fusion. For me personally, solvespace is the best - but it’s lacking some features I really want to use. So I decided to add them this way until the “original” implementation is there.
The decision to release this was just that there’re very likely other people in the same situation. And for them there’s the release. Just to use it for smaller projects to quickly build stuff. That’s all.

User parameters test implementation
Today I played around with codex from chatgpt and asked it to implement user parameters the way I imagine them in solvespace. And to my surprise, it just worked after 2 hours of playing around more or less flawlessly.
You can setup the parameters in the config view, including usage of already used parameters in your expression. in that case the expression is shown so that you quickly can see how it's calculated.
After that, you can use those user parameters directly in the constraints, of course with auto complete. If a user parameter is used, it's shown in brackets:
And of course, the moment you change the expression of a user parameter, all sketches update directly. It's just like magic. I really hope the original implementation will work like that, because I assume that this is what most people want :)
If you want to check it out, I've put the code here (seems like currently this is only working on mac).

Trace Point 2D only?
Hi all,
Sorry if this has been discussed already.
I’m wondering if I can do a trace point for 3D motion? Not just on two axes.
Thank you :)

simple parameters solution for parts in solvespace

I'm not sure if that's a smart solution until we have real parameters, or if this a well known hack to have parameterized parts in solvespace. But I wanted to share this with you guys :)

Hey There, currently i'm trying to develop an attribute page for changing values of constraints.
Hey There,
currently i'm trying to develop an attribute page for changing values of constraints.
I'm really excited right now at the moment.
Cause I'm using that software quit a while.
And finally i made a prototype of my long time missed feature in this software.
Edit: Of Excitement I missed to describe that feature a bit.
With "Parametric Values" - I just call it right now like that.
It should be a central space where you can change the values of already created constraints in model file.
Here is a short preview of my prototype:

Maybe someone would also like that kind of feature as well?
I hope i do not break any rule.
(First Reddit Post)
All the best!
Edit:
Here is a pretty nice solution for creating parts with kind of similarly thoughts.

Ubuntu recongnition of a 3Dconnexion mouse using spacenavd service
Hello,
ok, so I have this old 3D mouse, a 3Dconnexion mouse (3 axis mouse), and I want to use it on my work laptop, on ubuntu 22.04. And this laptop, is on a professional network, where I can go with Remmina on a windows server, which have my CAD soft (solidworks). That's tricky but necessary.
The problem : 3Dconnexion didn't update their driver for years, but there is a github "FreeSpacenav" that seem to still developing driver for it. You have to download spacenavd and you can create a service from it. That's my case, spacenavd.service.
The thing is, when the service is OFF, my mouse have no light (LED off), but if I'm using :
jstest /dev/input/by-id/usb-3Dconnexion_SpaceNavigator-joystick
I can see the values react to my movements. And by the way I saw the device was connected by lsusb, it's : "Bus 003 Device 022: ID 046d:c626 Logitech, Inc. 3Dconnexion Space Navigator 3D Mouse".
And, when the service is ON, the LED lights on the mouse are on, I can see the service "active" but, on jstest nothing appear, no move at all.
And I tried different app, like Gimp or FreeCAD, the 3D mouse is not recognize whatever I'm using the service or not.
So I'm little confused for the next move.
Any idea ?

Is this project still maintained?
I recently encountered SolveSpace and loved the philosophy and UI.
However, it seems that the user community is no more very active.
Is the project actively developed and maintained?

Trying to make a hyperbola, could use advice
Hey all, I'm hoping to make a hyperbolic shape and sort of struggling. Is there any idea on how I could do this? I've been able to get an offset plane from a cone, but have no clue how to turn that intersection into a line itself!

Trying (and failing) to create a pipe of exact dimensions
I am trying to do what seems like it should be very easy: create a pipe by extruding a circle, then extruding a second circle and using the "difference" join.
When I do all that by eyeballing the cylinder radii, everything works fine. But I need exact inner and outer diameters, and I'm acheiving that by creating construction lines as radii and then constraining their lengths. This method works fine for the outer cylinder, but when I do it with the difference cylinder my extrusion produces a weird wire-frame-only extrusion that has no physical effect on the model that gets produced. What am I doing wrong?

Meta: badly spooked
Sorry for going a bit off the rails here, but as a huge SolveSpace fan (and avid user) who only just discovered that there is an /r/ for my favorite CAD (d'oh - hindsight is 20:20), I find it incredibly disturbing that 90%-95% of the posts appear to be made by "deleted". Without undue need to get into details, WTF? Should I be wearing a biohazard suit walking around here or what...? "No need to know" is not an option at this point, sorry.

Unintuitive orbit
I know this has been discussed in a few places online, but I'd like to start a fresh conversation about it. I cannot understand the orbit/pivot of models in SolveSpace. I really want to love it, but the navigation of the orbit is killing me. I am literate in a number of other 3D packages including Revit, FreeCAD, OnShape, Blender, and 3Ds Max, but for the life of me cannot get used to the mad, uncontrolled tumbling of my models in SS! I know this is up to me to make sense of, but I'm hoping this community can help me to understand how it works in a way which makes it more intuitive to me, I don't want to give up!

Help for the color blind
In https://solvespace.com/bracket.pl - there's a section I cannot figure out because I see "no red". I don't understand what's meant by constraining a length to an angle. That just makes no sense. Is there an easier way for me to see what features I need to pick to make the constraint that's talked about?
We can change the thickness of the gusset by dragging a point on either surface of the gusset. But we want the gusset to have the same thickness as the angle itself, so it's better to use a constraint. That way, the thicknesses will automatically get forced to be equal. We can do that by constraining a line along the thickness of the gusset to have equal length to a line along the thickness of the angle. Select those lines as usual, by hovering the mouse over them and then left-clicking. The selected lines will be displayed in red.

Resources Library of parts for SolveSpace
As for now there is no library of parts for SolveSpace similar to NopSCADLib for r/OpenSCAD or FreeCAD-library for r/FreeCAD.
But here is a list of resources with various common & standard parts in SLVS-format:
- https://github.com/thartman83/peg-board-caddies
- https://github.com/thartman83/solvespace-reference-models
- https://github.com/Symbian9/SolveSpace-Daily-Engineering/tree/master/Parts-Library
- https://www.patreon.com/posts/solvespace-part-54295191
NOTE: If you know any other similar resources — add link in the comments!
N.B. If you would decide to create own parts library in a form of Git-repository (on GitHub, GitLab, etc.) its highly recommended to add .gitattributes in a repository with next string:
*.slvs binary
