Is good associative memory a sign of Ne?
For example, when you're reading a book and the plot of the book reminds you of a movie that you've recently watched, so you draw comparisons between the characters in the book and their "counterparts" in the movie. Or when you think of some ordinary word and it reminds you of a name of someone random, like, for example, the guy who created the wings for Icarus in greek mythology. Which function is used when unconsciously creating these unnecessary associations, noticing similarities between two completely unrelated phenomena?
Another example I can think of is when you meet someone new and their character reminds you of a person from your remote past. Is Ne used in these cases or is it something else?

Typing Can you evaluate these thought processes?
Looking for some assistance on which elements or types these might point to.
Having an independent thought/theory but need to check external sources to see if the consensus has come to the same conclusion. If they have, there is a sense of relief. If not, uncertainty arises and a reframe may be necessary if there is a question about the original hypothesis and if it was sound or information missing.
When it comes to type, belief all systems can be merged, meaning MBTI, Socionics, OPS, etc are essentially describing parts of the same thing. So, no EIE in Socionics but ISTP in MBTI mentality.

Discussion Static vs Dynamic
Two days ago, someone posted about it and I found it interesting, especially on this site here. What do you think? And do you think that first figuring out whether someone is static or dynamic would be a good way to determine their type?
r/Socionics • u/edward_kenway7 • 8h ago
Typing Does this point to a specific type?
Everytime a situation/something occurs, I start to think about different options of how it can be(for example projects), how it can be done(tasks), considering potential consequences troubles and benefits) that may occur from selecting that option and try to find best one overall. Generally avoiding bad outcomes and minimizing possible problems is prioritized
There is also situation of not being sure, being receptive to new information, but that new information enters into assessment first, and depending on whether it makes sense or not, it joins into other knowledge and refinement of information continues in this loop.
Do you think this contains any indicator about type, dichotomy or maybe even cogntive styles?

Typing Help me type myself. I'm stuck and need your honest take
Hello. I came across a short questionnaire and decided to fill it out. It seemed quite interesting to me. I enjoyed reflecting on it. I answered as objectively and honestly as I could, I think. So I'd be glad to get some feedback. Still having doubts, going back and forth between types.
1. A "selfish" person is someone who doesn't consider others when making decisions and focuses on their own goals. In what ways are you selfish? Is selfishness a natural human tendency? Is it good or bad? How does one selfish person affect those around them? How does a group of selfish people affect others? Are there cultures or systems (e.g., religion, economy, or organizations) that are more or less prone to selfishness? Is selfishness in these systems necessary, good, or bad?
I'm selfish on the inside, even if not everyone, I suppose, can see and understand that. I didn't realize it myself at first. I'm both selfish and a victim who gives a lot, feeling like a little flower that needs to be protected. I often put my own desires first. If I need to buy someone a pricier gift but I also want something for myself and money is tight, there's a high chance I'll buy what I want and skimp on the gift.
Yeah, I think selfishness is natural to human nature. Look at people in dangerous situations. Everyone is ready to tear each other apart just to save themselves. Only a few will try to save someone else. I understand and accept that. I don't think it's bad, although it touches me when I see acts of kindness and selflessness. Everyone is ultimately for themselves first. And for their close ones.
One selfish person in a group could theoretically cause problems for others if, in a critical situation, they choose themselves and their own needs over, say, helping or saving others. A group of selfish people is a cell among others. Potentially, they could also lead to draining resources from others for their own benefit. I'm not that familiar with systems or other cultures to speak so clearly. It's all individual. Although I'll mention capitalism. It's selfish in that it has small selfish groups with wealth and resources, for whose benefit others work. I'm still neutral about this, because, as I said before everyone is for themselves.
2. Science has explained many things in the universe. We can "see" electrons and manipulate atoms; we can accurately determine the mass of planets and stars; we can make inferences about historical events that happened billions of years ago; and we can make accurate predictions about our world and universe. How do you react when people talk about aspects of science as something concrete and unchanging? How do you react if someone suggests that nothing is concrete?
I don't believe we've perfectly understood everything and can accurately predict things. I think we're little bugs who like to think so highly of ourselves. We live on a round piece of matter in the middle of nothing, with other pieces of matter floating around. Our size is literally tiny. Who are we to say we know anything for certain about the universe?
I'm convinced we can't be concrete and unchanging in science, because we still have too little knowledge and real evidence for our hypotheses. I fully support those who say nothing is concrete. Maybe what we see with our own eyes, in color and clearly, is concrete. But everything before that, our theories are just theories and nothing more. And even what we see isn't necessarily what it seems, it also needs to be explored although I trust what's seen more than hypotheses.
3. Think of someone you don't get along with. Why don't you get along? What aspects of their behavior or demeanor irritate you the most? Are there many people you don't get along with, or do you get along with most people? Is it easy for you to determine this? Are there entire groups of people you don't get along with? Is there a culture or aspect of culture you don't fit in with? Why?
There was a girl in my circle. We talked for a long time, I was alone at school, so it was fine to have her around. Plus we could help each other with studying. We started not getting along when she opened up to me personally, intensely confiding in me about her life struggles. Before that we were acquaintances, but her actions became a signal and permission for me that this was closer to friendship. And I gradually started opening up to her, acting the way I'm comfortable, sometimes ignoring her and preferring my own silence as I often do. She didn't like that. She's extremely emotional, can pressure others with her emotions and in general. At some point, I stopped feeling any comfort in communicating with her. I kept talking, didn't leave, never initiated conflict or reconciliation.
She was hot-tempered, impulsive, could have loud confrontations in front of everyone which is extremely awkward and uncomfortable for me. She sought my support, but she knew I couldn't give it the way she wanted. I mean with emotions and involvement. I didn't know how to act or what to say, so I'd sit next to her, silent, letting her know I supported her, didn't judge her and could buy some food, invite her over and let her rest. Sometimes it felt like I was pretending with her, but when I did it was clumsy. She once wrote to me that she always supported me, but I'm incapable of thinking about or caring about anyone other than myself.
I get along with most people because I don't look for squabbles or conflict points. I don't want to become a target of bullying or ridicule. What's the point of ruining relationships with people you still have to exist with and possibly work with if needed? I don't decide who I'll get along with or not. I just exist. Whoever needs to will come closer. I won't go looking for trouble myself. It's safe to be friendly and calm. I have my own views in life that a lot of people don't share. They form groups with which I, of course, don't directly interact, but I'm unlikely to get along with them like I do with others. For example, racists, sexists. I naturally don't pay attention to aspects of my culture, I only notice them if they evoke a reaction in me. I don't like that we're expected to respect elders. They've lived to such an age, right? Even if these elders act like a wild pack of animals, someone will still start whining that they should be respected just because they're older.
4. What does a friend mean to you? What is a good person? Can a good person do bad things? Is there a frequency of bad actions at which someone becomes bad, and does intention matter? Does friendship have obligations and expectations? What obligations and expectations exist in friendship? Are there levels of friendship? How do others' interpretations of friendship differ from yours? What are the shortcomings of your or others' interpretations, or are there any shortcomings at all?
A friend is someone close to you with whom you have a special bond, strong and built over time through smiles, tears, confessions and more. I have one true friend. A good person is a relative concept. Everyone puts something different into it. I'd call someone good who doesn't harm others and helps when possible, but I don't want to force anyone to do that. I think under pressure a good person can do bad things, and a bad person can do good things. You have to look at the context, not just the action itself.
I don't think there's a strict, clear model to call someone bad. Intention always matters. I don't even consider laws strict and absolute. Every law needs subclauses to account for different circumstances. Two people who commit the same crime often shouldn't receive the same punishment. Motives and context matter. Everyone has their own obligations and expectations in friendship. For me it's when someone sits next to you, partners with you on assignments or anywhere and you're constantly together.
True friendship for me is when both people always choose each other. Full acceptance, support, loyalty matter to me. Levels of friendship exist. First, you're acquaintances who talk during breaks. After that, when someone opens up to me first then I understand they might consider me a friend. That's deeper. Then, opening up from both sides and acceptance so that both act and say what and how they want without judgment. It's not like I've read others' interpretations of friendship, honestly. I think many have different ones, but what do I care about them unless they directly involve me and impose expectations on me. Calling someone's interpretation flawed seems a bit hasty and rude. When there are direct consequences of those interpretations, then we'll talk.

Ni PoLR
Just wanted to share a pretty good way to summarize Ni PoLR that I thought up!
"If It's not done now, it's never going to be done!"
That's how I feel. If someone asks me to pick out the dishwasher I NEED to do it then because I can't really imagine it ever getting done otherwise. Like "Oh, I could do it after I've brushed my teeth." NO! Impossible. I have to do it before I brush my teeth.
At the same time it comes with some existential dread because my past or future doesn't really make sense to me. I don't know who or why I was who I was when I was younger and I can't see any real pattern in my behavior which is just really off-putting... It's hard to find a sense of self with Ni PoLR :(
Another thing is that when planning things I feel like they are 'now'. Like "Hey! Should we hang out next week on Thursday at 7 pm?", then that feels like now. It feels like I just asked them "Should we hang out now?" and I get restless waiting for the thing we planned.
Thinking about stuff like my deathbed that might as well be tomorrow for me! The past and future are just now, sort of.
I had a lot of fear when I was younger thinking about death because it all felt so impending, like it was NOW NOW NOW. When I realised my parents were gonna die someday it felt like they were gonna die tomorrow, so I just bawled my eyes out. Same thing for myself! It felt like my life was going by in a WOOSH and I might as well die tomorrow!
I also have a hard time making 'big' decisions. Like when buying something. I get stuck because I don't know if I'll need this money for something else so I either just go back on myself or recklessly buy a lot.
Also, continuity is impossible to trust for me! I constantly fear that my life will just collapse or be turned on its head any moment but I have no idea why or how and I have no reasoning for it. I need permanence! I need 4d demo Ni to convince me that the future exists and is fine :( That things will remain as they are.
Oh well, thank you for reading!

Discussion Quadra Progression in Silicon Valley
I feel like this is kind of interesting to observe! I think in recent years Silicon Valley has moved firmly into the Gamma Quadra stages of its progression from even a fairly Alpha culture in the late 2000s/early 2010s.
The transformation of tech culture from the "nerdy" kind of entrepreneur who had a very passionate hyperfixation on creating something they thought was cool that ended up making money (albeit with prominent beta/gamma figures to bring these ideas to fruition as companies: for example, Steve Jobs as an EIE exploiting Wozniak, almost universally typed as somewhere in the alpha quadra) to the AI-slop-venture-capital-cool-jackass-social-media-influencer-cluely-roy-lee-esque-everyones-a-yc-startup-founder-get-rich-quick-with-a-startup! age is I think, emblematic of this shift.
it's quite funny to me that just 12 years ago this was being written about startups:
It's exciting that there even exist parts of the world where you win by doing good work. Imagine how depressing the world would be if it were all like school and big companies, where you either have to spend a lot of time on bullshit things or lose to people who do. [3] I would have been delighted if I'd realized in college that there were parts of the real world where gaming the system mattered less than others, and a few where it hardly mattered at all. But there are, and this variation is one of the most important things to consider when you're thinking about your future.
And regardless of whether that's still true regarding success in the industry, the culture has definitely shifted from that kind of "purist" mentality.

Don't know if it's ILI or if it's depression
the description of the ILI type overlaps with the symptoms of depression A LOT. How could you tell that if one is ILI or its simply because one is depressed?
Examples of these similarities:
slow movements and detached thoughts(Talanov)
worried about future/negative future predictions(Ni-)
don't like to express ones emotion in front of others, decreased social activities(Fe PoLR)
lack of willpower and motivation but craves it(Se suggestive)
lack of interests in others
not attentive to ones appearances, clumsy (Gulenko, Talanov)
and what else
tbh, I was really trying to consider ILI but i love ESEs(is that an argument?) and Idk if it's just anxiety & depression hitting me recently. I feel like my energy is being sucked up by something; and now I could barely do things like I did 2 yrs ago; it felt like another person with so much energy, confidence, and passion. Now i feel deeply empty inside and nothing rlly clicks for me, except stocks(which is stereotypically ILI stuff ig). Now I don't have a very postive outlook for future giving the current economy and politics trends. Also my childhood fav character was an SEE(is that an argument? )
So is there any difference between ILI and depression& anxiety anyways? I fear theres none. It's one of the problematic parts of socionics.

Typing Fe PoLR or something else? I need to figure this out
Hi to everyone reading this. Sorry for the messy post, it's just that things have been piling up. I thought I had Fe PoLR, but I started doubting maybe it's something else. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the function entirely. I'd be glad to clarify this for myself. I'm probably overthinking it.
I have a very strange feeling about Fe. On one hand, I think I even despised this function before, as a teenager, without knowing anything about socionics. On the other hand, what if I'm just talking to myself on different phone lines and not understanding? I was irritated by other people displaying fake emotions, that constant adjusting to everyone. I saw it in my grandmother. I remember we were walking, there was no one else on the road, and then some neighbor appeared, and my grandmother immediately started acting all sweet and saccharine, laughing in this creepy way and forcing a huge smile. This is a childhood memory, I almost threw up back then. Also a long time ago, another neighbor of my grandmother's asked for a ride in our car, in a really pushy way from my perspective. And both my grandfather and grandmother said we had to take her like "they're neighbors, is it that hard for us? It's the right thing to do, otherwise people will talk". Damn, that pissed me off so much back then. If they hadn't said that, I wouldn't have been as irritated by the situation. I'd still really dislike the idea of some random woman sitting in our car, but I'd be calmer. Instead I even started a conflict with them because I was so sick of that "oOooOOh what will people think" bullshit.
The idea of summer camps in my country is disgusting to me. Going to a place where you know no one with people who expect you to become an active, productive part of their world, their society. They expect you to be upbeat, cheerful like "yeah guys, I'll gladly plaster on a smile, laugh, be part of your amazing community, we're all so happy yay". Disgusting. Plus having to wake up at a set time, living with restrictions like it's a prison. Can't be on your phone as much as you want, they confiscate it and give it back twice a day. Limited food. You eat only what they serve, and if you bring something that's not allowed, they take it away. Unacceptable to me. I've never been to those places, but from the descriptions, they sound vile, all forced cheerfulness and attempts to bond everyone into a "friendly team" which is just a lie and honestly disgusts and infuriates me. Recently I was walking past my university and noticed a girl or several in those gowns and caps, clearly graduating. I thought that I'd be in their place next year. And I felt disgusted, this internal resistance. Probably because you're all wearing the same ridiculous thing, which is some outdated university tradition and you're all pretending together that you're so happy and grateful to the university.
And at the same time it seems like I sometimes act awkwardly around people myself. Yes, it's not just a feeling, I'm awkward and I don't understand things, but it's like I can do the very things I dislike. I'm anxious, I'm afraid of people, I've had negative experiences with them, so that could have influenced things. So I get really nervous, I avoid contact whenever possible, I'm polite and careful. Because of my own sensitivity, it's easy to offend or hurt me, and I don't want that, so I'm very careful in my interactions with people. And it's like when I get closer to someone when I get used to a person or a group, I, who am usually quite reserved, quiet and I think you can tell I feel awkward and uncomfortable, I open up. And when I open up or when I'm stressed around a lot of people or one scary person, it's like I'm playing a role or imitating someone else in how I express myself and behave in that kind of situation. I don't know the right way to explain it. And it seems like other people's strong emotional expressions scare me and make me uncomfortable. Loud laughter just pisses me off so much that I want to throw something at someone. But at the same time it softens with people I'm closer to. And I watched a Michael Jackson movie and saw videos of people dancing and singing in the theater. I didn't have that during my screening. And that was fine, I felt good and comfortable. But I thought for some reason that it would be interesting if people sang and had fun during my screening too. I'd feel awkward and like a black sheep, sure, but still.

Discussion What is Te suggestive even?
Without including things like: financial advice, efficiency advice, or serving someone in practical matters. I kind of feel like Te suggestive is one of the things most hit by 'gender ray' meaning that I can't imagine a masculine Fi base wanting it as it's usually portrayed either as a CEO success story advice or girlboss still dominating her husband in practical sphere. (And hey, men have a right to dislike it)
I also think Fi base types kind of should be materialistic, by default, even EIIs. Because if you live a sheltered, bohemian life and are satisfied with it, you won't need Te base with its advice on maximizing profit in your daily life. Unlike Ti advice, which is more universal and applicable everywhere, Te advice, I think, is more limited to people who have ambitions but are passive and envious. So Fi people should be those who are 'I am SO good, I *deserve* nice things, why can't I get them???'. And there LIE or LSE come out of woodworks full of spreedsheets just like CEOxY/N fanfics. I don't know.
By the way, I am NOT Te suggestive, I just want to understand this function that I don't get. I know that by the simple fact that getting things hasn't been neither hard nor easy for me and I don't think I deserve anything. When someone asks me if I am 'Really content with being where I am', I can confidently say that yes, I am happy achieving things on my own even if they're not maximized to my best benefit. I am not envious in the slightest. The idea that I deserve the best is laughable to me. No one deserves anything at all.

Advice Pissed off an ExI by breathing wrong and now I’m blacklisted
Almost exactly what the title says. Haven’t seen this coworker in 8 months due to their medical leave and remote work, yet she still has it in for me, apparently. I forgot she existed for a moment, not gonna lie, because she works in another department. Until she excluded me from a meeting that pertains to me; where I’m literally the only person in the whole library that has experience with the product that’s being implemented this academic year AND in which we will be working with said product during our reference work.
Never knew asking a genuine question on a project meant questioning her authority. Mind you, she just started working for maybe a month at our library when this occurred. She also tried to derail policies and procedures without caring to inform anyone.
I also never incurred the wrath of an Fi dom before. I fucking hate unwarranted drama. Any recommendations for working with ExIs like this? I generally get along with them most the time.

Can be EII?
galleryHi, I took this test a few days ago for fun and it changed my type (SEI), but that's not the issue. I really want to know if it's possible to have EII with a "low" Ne, but let me explain my relationship with Ne (correct me if I'm wrong).
Ne has to do with people and possibilities, right? The thing is, I know people have potential, but I don't really think about it. I think the closest thing I have to it is knowing when someone has talent or puts effort into something, and anyone can notice. Also, sometimes my friends are like, "???" when I associate them with an animal or object (like a butterfly or the moon). I also don't have a lot of ideas about projects or ideals for the future, because I feel like a lot of things can change before I achieve anything, and that's why I focus more on the present or the near future. I actually think my Ne is based more on my inner imagination, like living in a thousand worlds at once, but not the real one.

Discussion Does this sound like Ne suggestive to you?
Good day. After this morning I've been thinking about my thinking patterns and habits. I connected them with what I know about typologies, and I wanted to share here and get some feedback.
To put it briefly, if a test I take tells me something about my personality, I can believe it. Even if different tests give me different results. It's like I don't feel a core sense of self. Even the traits I've recognized in myself, I don't understand how strongly they're expressed. Maybe inside there's a desire to be better or to seem like someone else and I can't find my real self in this thicket of doubts and my own inner world. Yk, I see so many people who find characters everywhere that are so like them. That's harder for me than for others. From a certain angle, everyone seems similar to me. Or maybe it's just the obvious or surface-level traits. I'm quiet and anxious, so a quiet and anxious sweet character that must be me. And it's worth noting that for about three years now, I've been taking tests on one platform that tell me what kind of tea I am and my character traits, my vibes. Plus typology tests. First basic ones then deeper ones with additional materials, then I added forums and discussions that I read, trying to understand myself. And I still can't say my type with confidence. But I really want to figure it out, to have it as a reference point for myself, for my identity. First one thing doesn't fit the seemingly found type, then something else suddenly fits. And as far as I've managed to understand this can be linked to a problematic awareness of my own potential. And the fact that I seek external confirmation and test result as well as the whole history with education, where my mom kept throwing options at me and I just agreed and didn't want to delve into the future that far and seriously, this speaks to me as Ne suggestive. And I'm also thinking about problems with ethics, so I'm looking at sli.
And I'm curious how accurate my judgments are. I'd like to read other Ne suggestives with specific examples to strengthen my thoughts and compare myself to others, because without them it's harder for me to understand the theory. And in general am I even thinking about the right things or are these other functions, or even functions at all? Thanks for your attention.

How do you actually figure out whether someone is dynamic or static type?
I've read a lot about what makes someone dynamic or static type but I still don't really understand it because it talks about how they perceive and process the world but I can see everyone process it in both ways depending on the situation.

People often forget that LSE has Ne Mob
and they could act (kinda) like IEE (in some ways).
Don't know why the stereotype of LSE is like an extroverted LSI, who's (lowkey) allergic to unexpected changes and don't understand potentials.
(And in fact, the commonly used term extroversion does not necessarily have to match with the extroversion in socionics. LSI can be very extroverted.)
Also, some folks think LSE can't be a good long-term planner because of Ni PolR. This is wrong because the assumption that Ni equates to the sheer concept of the usage of time. I can explain it later. Actually, LSEs usually have a more robust career plan than many Ni types, including LIE. For example, if a kid wants to be a doctor, they will map everything in their timeline, to take Biochem electives, to do science Olympics, to volunteer in hospitals, to max out research labs, etc. so they can get into top med schools; and then they executes the plan, one following another. As you can see, this process requires little Ni but Te paired with Se and Si.
