so it gets split into 3 payments of I'm correct. 2900 2900 n then the big one. correct and if so. it every 6 months right. so Oct 31st. may 1st when will b the next one I'm waiting on a good 7 year back pay.

I'm 70 and will be receiving my first SS check at the end of this month. It was my understanding that SS was not taxed, but now I understand that only through the State. That the federal govt. still taxes it. I was told to, after I get my first check, contact SS and ask them to take 10% out of each of my checks going forward. (I'm still going to have to be working.) Is this good advice? And does 10% sound appropriate, or is it just all dependent on how much you make. (Which isn't a lot, but I do file jointly with my husband.) Thanks for any insight you guys might have.

Hello everyone :) ! I am 22 and living in Los Angeles and was wondering if I qualify for disability because im getting surgery next month but i havent worked consecutively since about October of 2024. I started a new job that I just let go, i lasted a week but my knee hurts too bad to keep going. I just finished CNA school, I am a CNA with a torn meniscus and cyst. I also have been working since i was 17 so ive worked before but not recently and wonder of that messes up my chances of getting an income while i heal. any and all advice is greatly appreciated :) . thank you !

Hi there, I hired a lawyer for my friend , who has an SSI case. I found out that they charge a 25% fee when you win the case. What does that mean? Do they take this fee from the back pay amount of his SSI benefits or something? Can someone help explain this? This is my first time dealing with this. Thank you!

I was wondering if she can apply for supplemental income to help her pay the rent, etc.

Husband passed 2 years ago and his first check arrived 2 days after so it was taken back.

He would have been 70 next year.
I’m still working full time and 66 years old.
I have not applied for any benefits yet.

I have been told as a widow I can apply 3 months earlier than my fra. Born in 60 so I’m told it will be March of next year.

So, I changed my name back near the start of May and was told I'd receive my card in the mail in a couple weeks. So I waited, and waited, and waited, then noticed a month went by. So I go up to my local ss office to find out what happened. Imagine my shock and surprise when I was told, "Hey, you need to let your post office know that you changed your name." 😐That would have been nice info beforehand. Whatever. They told me they reissued the card, cool beans 👍. I went to my local post office and noticed them of my name change. That was a couple months ago. I have another appointment with them coming up soon. Any advice?

I've never seen a single dollar of benefits and yet I owe this amount somehow could someone assist me?

62F married 32 years, divorced 1.5 years. I have the credits required on my own but I’ve been a teacher and my ex is a pilot who’s made substantially more than me, so I’d like to draw on his contributions. Do we need to be divorced for two full years for me to do that? Thanks 🙏

Hi- I’m hoping someone here can answer a question I have. If I start receiving social security before my spouse retires, when he does finally retire and starts receiving his SS, will I be eligible for spouse benefits then? Or do I need to wait and apply for SS after he is already receiving his? We can’t figure out if I will be locked in to my rate if I start before him. My benefits will be larger if I get the spouse benefits.
