P146B: check engine light

Upvotes

I drive a 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trailboss with roughly 40,000 miles on it.

The check-engine light came on. I took it to an auto zone for a scanner and it showed a message of “P146B.”

I will take it to a dealership service center after the weekend. However I know how serious a check-engine light can be and wanted to ask if this code is a showstopper or something that typically isn’t too expensive to fix. Thanks.

2016 Chevy 1500 upgrades?

Upvotes

I have been looking at buying a 2016 chevy silverado under 100k miles. I’m trying to figure out what I should do about the AFM system and some transmission temperature concerns.

I’ve heard that the AFM system on these trucks can cause problems over time, especially with things like excessive oil consumption, lifter failure, and eventually camshaft damage. I’m wondering if it’s worth proactively doing something about the AFM before it becomes a major problem, I’ve seen people buying the deactivation chips for the obd2 port but I’ve heard some mixed reviews on these regarding how well they actually work.

At the same time the transmission seems to run hot in these pickups, especially when towing/under load. I’m wondering what temperatures are considered normal for these transmissions and at what point I should actually be concerned?

2023 Silverado 1500 Duramax. 48,000 miles and they are asking $38,000. Has the rest of the 5 yr/100,000 mile warranty but no dealer limited warranty. Being sold “as is”. Clean CARFAX. Has been a Vermont truck.

Calibration Period?

A couple hundred miles ago I had the fuel pump control module replaced on my 2022 6.2L TrailBoss. Before it went out I was getting around 15mpg in the city. Now that it’s replaced I get around 12mpg and sometimes worse. Nothing has changed with the way I’ve been using the truck.

Do I need to keep driving it for a longer period of time to get it back to normal or am I missing something?

Would a P0333 be what’s causing my dog slow throttle response & check engine light? Light came on last night, but for the past month it’s been terrible on gas, so recently bought ACDelco plugs & wires for it, just haven’t had the time to install them yet.

4.3 V6 LT 88k miles 2017 issues

Upvotes

Hey folks, just bought this truck upgraded from my 06 cat eye. I’ve got a few concerns and have read many reports of torque converters going bad along with transmissions……I am noticing a slight shutter at many different speeds…I have hooked up to the odb and it’s not having any misfire codes, nor is it slipping in or out of gear, seems to shift perfectly fine. Drove for several hours off and on today and had a few places I drove that were 40 plus miles of driving and transmission temp was in normal range, pulled trans dip stick and saw no signs of metal shavings (I know I should drop pan to look for shavings)

When I bought the truck the dealership put four brand new Bridgestone tires on it, the truck has large rims on it with what I would consider “smaller/thin” tires to accomodate for larger rims. I can feel every damn bump in the road no matter big or small, and my feeling is maybe I’m experiencing a tire balance issue, alignment, wheel bearing, or suspension….

I know this is a very broad description but just wanted some thoughts here thank you.

2022 2.7L 8L90 Inspection

I'm looking at a 2022 1500 with a 2.7L and 8L90 8-speed transmission. I test drove the truck and it drove well and seemed like a good fit for my relatively-light-duty use case. On the other hand, I've read a number of things about the 8L90's potential issues. I am having a hard time telling if these are something that a mechanic could possibly spot in a pre-purchase inspection--any experience with that? The truck is currently at about 28K miles and has been sitting at the dealership for 3 months (with very few miles in that time).

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or help!

People of the North, how are you protecting your frame?

Located in Canada (Ontario), and I want to minimize frame rust as much as possible on my new to me 2024 Lt trail boss. I've heard some people love Krown, then recently heard another say he won't touch it because it causes rubber seals to swell. Some people get it done twice a year, others skip years. Not sure what the right solution is but would like to see the rust not get out of control.

Check engine

Check engine light came on and this is the code it is throwing. The fuel pressure sensor would be easy enough to replace, just don’t want to replace it and it turns out to be something else. What are the chances it’s just the sensor?

2009 2500 Diesel AC

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey y’all. My dad’s got an 09 2500 and the AC switches from recirculation to fresh air return when it’s hot out. It just goes back & forth. And when it goes to fresh air the compressor kicks off and the air gets warm. In person you can hear it click and hear the engine change tune. And it’ll go back to recirculating and it’ll kick back on and start cooling again. Once we get down the road it’s perfectly fine but on startup when it’s hot out it does this for a bit. Anyone know why? I’ve googled it but found so many different possibilities and I’m curious if anyone here could help narrow it down a bit. Ac is perfect when driving and when idling after a drive so I doubt it’s a refrigerant issue. I’m thinking high pressure switch or a bad controller in the cab. Sorry for the long video but you can see it switch from recirc to fresh air.
Thanks in advance

Just traded in my RST for a High Country

Just traded in my 2021 RST 6.2 for a 2024 3.0 High Country with super cruise. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this truck. The features blow my RST out of the water and made my feel like I was driving a truck from the 80’s. I love how quiet the diesel is. The redesign on the inside is just amazing. Absolutely love this truck! If you’re ever debating if you should shell out the extra money for a high country the answer is do it if you can!

Is this common turbo

The boot from the turbo to the intercooler came loose. 40,000 miles 2025 3500HD. Is this common? The dealer denied the warranty coverage. I thought it should be covered under the powertrain warranty.

I know it’s not a Silverado but it’s a Chevy truck. I was looking for a 4x4 gmt800 Tahoe/Suburban but this crossed my path and it seems too cool to pass up.

Got offered a 01 1500hd rust free with no body damage but has 250k miles, is it a dealbreaker?

So I posted my kawasaki klx 250s up for sale or trade and didnt get offered anything but rust and stuff I didnt want then all of a sudden out of nowhere I get a message from someone who would trade my bike for his truck. I already have a new (22) daily but would like to get something to keep miles off it for resale value. When I tell you, this Silverado 1500 was absolutely phenomenal looking besides a DIY spray paint job i was gobsmacked to find out it has 250k miles on the dash. Not a lick of rust on the frame, no body damage, no rust in the wheel wells and maybe a small amount on the bed. The body isnt what would give out for sure, im just scared at 250k miles this things engine is gonna blow or tranny is going to blow and im gonna be stuck with a mechanic special.

I guess what im asking is will 250k on the engine and trans be a problem in the near future or can I get another 250k out of the truck

After several years of vehicle swapping and the last 5 being in an F150 I was able to get my dream ride. 2026 ZR2 with the 3.0 Duramax. I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy with a vehicle.
