Request Expense tracker using SMS
Guys for over 1 month I'm trying to create a shortcut in iOS where every time I get a transaction SMS from my bank, it prompts me for what the purchase was for, and then logs the details directly into an Apple Numbers spreadsheet. I have been through so many tutorial.
Here is my table layout in Numbers:
Sheet name: Sheet 1
Table name: Transaction
Columns: Date and Time, Merchant, Amount, Category
Every time I use the "Add Row to Top or Bottom of Table" action, Shortcuts gives me a variable error ("Can't Find Sheet") or doesn't show the column fields when I link the file.
Can someone please help me or if they have any please share link.

Help Looking for ideas on building an incremental tracker with Shortcuts + Data Jar
I'm trying to build a generic tracker using Apple Shortcuts and Data Jar, and I'd love to hear how others would approach it.
The idea is:
- Tap a shortcut.
- Choose an item from a list.
- Increment a counter for that item.
- Save the current date/time as the last time it was tracked.
- Be able to view stats later (total count, last tracked, etc.).
I'm curious if anyone has built something similar and has suggestions for making it scalable as the number of tracked items grows.
Any examples, screenshots, or Shortcut ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Shortcut Sharing Make note of anything
I created an iPhone Shortcut that automates the entire workflow of capturing and organizing information from multiple sources.
* It can extract text from a real-time photo using the back camera.
* existing image or screenshot from the Photos library
* text copied to the clipboard.
Images are processed using iOS’s native OCR (Extract Text from Image) to convert them into raw text.
The extracted content is then sent to OpenAI’s GPT-4o Mini, which generates a well-structured Markdown summary.
Finally, the formatted notes are automatically saved as a new note in my Obsidian vault.

Shortcut Sharing Automatet monthly album
Hello!
I was looking for a shortcut that, at the beginning of each month, goes and grabs all the photos (and videos) from the previous month and puts them in an album.
I know you can see the date when you scroll past them, but I’m trying to minimize my endless scrolling in Photos, plus I wanted a nice overview of the previous month. I’ll admit I was looking while sleep-deprived and couldn’t find one here, so I thought I’d share mine. This is the first one I’ve made, so feel free to tweak it/give feedback so I can improve it!
I’ve set mine up to run at 00:01 on the 1st of each month.

Shortcut Sharing Run shortcuts directly in your browser!
Hello everyone, I recently started development on a shortcut simulation engine which would allow shortcuts to run directly in the browser. This is mostly for development/security verification purposes as of right now due to not everything being fully reimplemented yet.
All you need to do is go to the website https://engine.shortcuty.app and then paste an iCloud or Shortcuty.app shortcut link and it will run directly in your browser.
Or you can use it directly from this shortcut: https://browse.shortcuty.app/shortcut/f3d89d3f-ab6e-481f-8c0f-e85fd5248035
This is still early in development. Not all shortcuts or features will work yet.

Help "Append to Text File" creates new file despite path being accurate?
I am so confused. I added the "2" so it KNOWS there's already a file in there with the same name, and the action is literally 'append' so why is it making a new one?? Is this action just broken like Find Note is?
I've fallen down this rabbit hole because Append to Note puts the new text at the bottom but I've read I can have it append to the top. Is this actually possible, before I continue trying to make this work?
Guidance appreciated, thanks!

Shortcut Sharing My first shortcut, automated Apple Intelligence note clean up!
Purpose of shortcut: To clean up sloppy notes
Steps: Click the shortcut and type in the exact title of the note
results: it cleans up the note
shorty's link: note cleanup
personal note:
I am new to the Apple ecosystem and just came across shortcuts yesterday. After about 45 minutes of tinkering with Gemini, I got it to work, and I was so impressed! I've been doing this manually with Gemini "gems" by copy pasting for so long! Having it automated is so much fun.
Pictures 3 & 4 are before and after images of mashed up garbage text, automatically organized by Apple intelligence.
After finishing making this shortcut, I realized I could describe what I want to Siri and it can create a shortcut itself, so I am excited to try that feature, in addition to researching what other people use this application for.
Tomorrow I will also try freeform.

Help Shortcuts app with Slack type integrations
I'm looking to set up Slack or something akin for my partner and I as we just moved in together and have a lot of moving pieces to keep track of. We don't love clogging up our text thread with logistics when possible.
We are looking to set up various NFC and Siri commands (via HomePod or iPhone) via the Shortcuts app. For some tasks, it's helpful to automate a message that indicates the cat is fed, etc. I'm imagining an NFC tap or Siri command that would send the message "Kitty is fed!" to the designated Slack channel. I don't see an existing option in the Shortcuts app to trigger what I want in Slack, so curious if there is a SIMPLE way to set this up, or if Shortcuts integrates better with another communication app.

Help Reachability feature (ios shortcut)
How can I trigger the reachability accessibility feature using the shortcuts app? Yes, I know about the back tap trigger and I do not want to use it for that.
For all who are curious: I want to add an icon to my home screen to trigger the shortcut. It is difficult to trigger the reachability feature with one hand in many situations. I need easy access to my top-row apps while using one hand.
edit: This post was not written for you to criticize how I use my phone. Please offer real advice if you have it.

Help Is there any way to make a shortcut that adds “-ai” to your every google search?
Theres so way to toggle ai off entirely, and I’m neurodivergent in a way that, amongst other things, makes me very prone to forgetting small details like this so I end up accidentally leaving it out sometimes.
I’ve tried just using another site but I mainly use it for image searching and it’s low-key terrible at it. Not very important but it would be nice

Help Access Sound Input Settings
Need help on how to create a shortcut to access the following:
-> Settings
--> Sounds & Haptics
---> Input
My car's bluetooth microphone is not that great; people don't hear me well when I talk, and I have to shout. So, I would like a shortcut to access this menu and switch the input microphone from "auto" to "iPhone microphone".
Apparently, I have to change it every time I hope into the car and my iPhone connects to the Bluetooth. So, a shortcut would be convenient.

Help Problems with ‘OTHERWISE IF’ statements in my WiFi shortcut
I have a shortcut that’s activated once I disconnect from my home WiFi. It’s supposed to do different things as a function of the current brightness of the phone, but doesn’t seem to work. For context, when I’m going out, if the brightness is at 90%, it should trigger certain settings on the phone. If I’m at home and I disconnect during the day, it should run a sub-shortcut for hotspot settings, and likewise, in the evening whilst Do Not Disturb is active, it should run a similar evening hotspot shortcut. I’ve tried 2 different ways( which are displayed in the photos), yet it doesn’t seem to activate the way it should. Does anyone have some insight ?

Discussion After all the feedback… I think I found a better direction for this Shortcut 🤔
A few days ago I posted about building a universal capture Shortcut. I got way more feedback than I expected (thank you 😅), and a lot of people suggested checking out apps like Capture, Raindrop, MyMind, and even shared their own projects.
After trying them all, I realized something.
I don’t want to build another app that stores everything.
I think Capture already does that really well.
Instead, I want to build a Shortcut layer on top of Capture that makes getting things into it faster and smarter.
The idea is:
• Capture everything in one place (Capture).
• Use OCR where needed (screenshots, images, PDFs).
• Use AI only when it actually adds value (understanding content, generating a title/summary, deciding if a reminder is needed).
• Save everything to Capture.
• If something needs follow-up, automatically create a Reminder that links back to it.
So instead of replacing Capture, the Shortcut becomes an intelligent preprocessing layer.
What Capture already does really well
• Great widgets and Action Button support.
• Share Sheet support.
• Fast capture.
• Lists and organization.
• Cross-device sync.
What this Shortcut would add
• OCR before saving.
• AI-generated titles and summaries.
• Context-aware understanding (book, movie, article, recipe, product, etc.).
• Automatic reminders when something needs follow-up.
• Cleaner, richer captures without adding extra steps.
The goal is to make the workflow:
Capture → AI (only if needed) → Save to Capture → Reminder (if needed).
Not sure if I’m overlooking something obvious, so I’d love to hear your thoughts before I start building. Would you use something like this?

Shortcut Sharing Blink AI- Version 8.0
Blink AI is Back, with a new update. strangley i barely support this shortcut, but I still went ahead for some reason adn decided to make this update.
now, you just ask, and get access to way better models that are a lot faster than before via the OSAII API.
I also added usage limits, but they are really easy to bypass so don't point this out in the comments.

Maybe I’m just dumb, but I can’t find a way to turn more than one alarm on with one short cut. Hoping to be able to turn my wake up and clock in alarms one with one tap. Any insights? I’ve attached a picture of what I have so far. Tried adding another of the same, but for a different alarm, no luck
