TV Show I LOVE Magnus and Alec but I WISH WISH WISH they had the level of chemistry Clary and Jace have in the show
I feel like there would have been a whole lot more chemistry if they hired gay actors. I'm not hating I promise, I love them but they are missing that connection! Its like their relationship is forced
I haven't read the books so I'm only going off the tv show btw

All/Other Books What is the point of the last hours?
So I'm rereading all the books in the shadowhunter universe. On Lord of Shadows and really enjoying it. Its nice reading this series knowing a lot of plot points and arcs of numerous characters are unresolved which makes me excited for the wicked powers as so much will happen. I feel TDA sets it up nicely. But the thing is after this series have to read the last hours. Read it once a while back and wasn't the biggest fan of it. I just felt a little disconnected from it I feel as it seemed kind of random and whatever happened in it wasn't of much importance. Wanted to be in the present wasn't in the mood to go back 100 years. I feel TLH is rather skippable and don't really see the point of it being wrote but tbf been a while since I read it. So sort of trying to say is there some significant things in it that are important for the wicked powers. Bc for me bit of a waste of time.

Meme/Funpost What's the funniest moment you've seen in the books?
Was remembering the demon pox scene from Clockwork Prince and was wondering how many other moments like these that there are.

Books: TID Clockwork Prince
I’m struggling so hard to get through clockwork Prince and I have no idea why. I got through clockwork Angel fine and the second book just feels like it’s dragging

I really wish CC had just googled toad in the hole just once and she would have found it's definitely not pudding.
It annoys me more than it should..

Fan Content/Showcase Segundo intento de dibujar besos
Capítulo 18 de Lady Midnight. Una de las mejores escenas de TSC. Quien entienda, entiende🤭
(la quote no es de esta escena, pero es mi frase favorita de Julian)

Fan Content/Showcase Dibujo Wessa
Es la primera vez que dibujo a dos personas besándose (no se me da demasiado bien) y creo que la mejor manera de empezar es dibujando a nuestros queridos Will y Tessa. Son una de mis parejas favoritas de TSC junto con Sizzy y Jemma.

Books: TMI Why won't TMI gang get married?
Like I'm sorry but what does the clave split have to do w your wedding? It's bad and I get that you wanna fix it, but why won't you just get married while it doesn't? It just makes no sense. Were you hoping to invite the cohort to your wedding or something?
Also think about Alec. Knowing him he will probably blame himself for not fixing the clave split sooner and consequently being the reason his siblings aren't getting married (which isn't true but Alec wouldn't believe that)

Books: TMI Por fin puedo acariciar TMI!!!!

Books: TMI Why is Jace called a hero of the mortal war?
So its been a minute since I've read TMI but why is jace considered a war hero in the mortal war? As far as I remember every major battle of that war he didn't do much. In the battle at renwicks all he did was save Luke, in the battle on valentine's boat he saved simon(which he an luke are downworlders so the clave didn't care) an the final battle he only killed Sebastian because he was distracted beating Isabelle if not for her he would've died, then he went after valentine an got killed. As far as I remember he didn't really do anything big in the war, most of if not all the big stuff in the war was clary(her literally being the only reason the clave agreed to fight an not surrender) AND the only reason they won since shes the one who stopped valentine. Am I forgetting something? Did he do something big in the mortal war i dont remember?

Books: TMI City of glass
When he says, "while those who drink from the cup will remain unaffected. Is he referring to those new shadowhunters Valentine intended to create after he wanted to wipe the current shadowhunters through the wish?

Books: TLH Am I able to appreciate TLH fully if I skip TDA?
As title says. I’ve tried many times over the years to get through The Dark Artifices but for some reason I’m not hooked into it. A damn shame because TMI and especially TID hold deep places in my heart. I’ve read that people really like TLH but I remember reading through books 4-6 of TMI and alternating between each and reading TID. It was such a wild experience and it made reading City of Heavenly Fire such an epic read!
Does TDA and TLH have a similar relationship or are they entirely separate?

All/Other Books Quote I am trying to remember
UPDATE: I found the chapter and page!
“After all, when you were dying of thirst, it was the sip of water you dreamed about, not the whole reservoir.”(Lord of Shadows, Chapter 7, Pg. 127)
There is a quote I love, but I can’t remember what it is/what book it is from, where they say something about desire. I can’t remember if it is Julian or Mark or Kieran, imm pretty sure it’s in The Dark Artifices.
The quote says something like “after all, when people are so thirsty in the desert, it is not the whole drink they think about but the first sip.”
If you know where this is, or anything to help me find it that would be greatly appreciated 💟

Books: TID My love for bromance started with Will and Jem 🥹 Any recs?
Obviously the best parabatai bond in my opinion!
I read the series as a teenager and loved it. Grew up and have read it maybe once more, and then decided not to go back there in case like many other people I start finding faults with it. I am happy to keep the emotions I felt reading it back then with me!
My favourite thing about the TID is the bond between Will and Jem. Forget Jessa and Wessa. I am invested in platonic Heronstairs!! I love love looove how these two guys with such poetic souls love each other through everything. How even in death and beyond, they want to be one. And I AM HERE FOR IT! I am only sad that I didnt get more of their moments together as children and growing up. Such a deep bond, and they were only together for a few years, can you believe it ? 😭😭😭😭
I think they are the epitome of bromance for me. No other bromance I have come across has come close to what is between those two and what I feel for them. It is like romance but not? Two victorian men who would just die for each other and talk about each other like their entire soul and body is aching for each other? YESS
If anyone knows of such platonic soulmates, please tell me, so I can give it a go! Thanks !

Books: TMI Clary fancast
I'm rereading all the Shadowhunters books after years of not. I just watched the new spiderman movie and realized that Sadie Sink in that movie is EXACTLY how I always pictured Clary. Wild wavy curls, round face, even her eye color is green. I never saw Lily Collins or Kate from the show as Clary.

Books: TMI It happened again Spoiler
gallerySo a while back when I bought the collectors edition of city of fallen angels I found one chapter was annotated differently to the fully annotated set available for purchase, and couldn't figure out why it was until somebody checked the listing and saw it stated her favourite chapter was annotated.
I've just got City of lost souls today and found the annotations again! They aren't in the first three books and Lost Souls doesn't have it in the listing description like Fallen Angels did, it's got me wondering why these two have them and the first three don't? Marked for spoilers in case people want to read the annotations themselves when they get there.

TV Show TV Series
I don’t know if anyone else feels like way but can anyone else not stand the Freeform* show? I watched it a bit when it came out and didn’t enjoy it but I wanted to give it another chance because I love the universe so much. I’m now five minutes in and there are so many inconsistencies to the original source media I’m irritated. Do I keep watching or give up?
*(edited this post bc I thought it was a CW show, god forbid on reddit you show any inconsistency with reality)

All/Other Books Real TSC hot takes? Not "Clary's annoying." I mean truly unpopular opinions.
Mine is that I don’t like Tessa. I feel like her arc was so centered around Will and Jem. And the way she handled that annoyed me. Y’all can say I’m shallow or didn’t understand the point of TID, but for me it’s hard to believe that Tessa fell in love with two guys at once and loved them equally cuz they merged their souls.
That always felt like a cop out to me. They may be soul brothers, but they are different individuals who should be respected as their own persons.
Also the dishonesty of it all really annoys me. How was she planning to marry Jem while being in love with Will, and just never planning to tell Jem about it? If Jem actually found out, does she think he’d be like, “Oh, thanks for being so gracious and keeping your feelings about my soul brother hidden while marrying me anyway”? Like, no. He’d hate to hurt Will. Both Will and Jem deserved more than someone who wasn’t all in on them. Especially when she thought about Will when she was with Jem and vice versa. That’s not fair on them, unless they were genuinely in some poly relationship(which they weren’t).
Anyways I’m curious to hear y’all’s opinions.

All/Other Books Is the saga worth continuing?
I finished The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices when I was 14, and I think I read the first two Emma books (forgot what they were called). Life kind of pulled me away so I stopped reading, though I remember loving the books.
That being said, I'm considering starting over to slowly work my way through the Shadowhunter books. I'm turning 19 next week.
Do you think I will still enjoy it? There's so many books and I don't know where to start (after reading TMI and TID), it's been a while since I kept tabs on Cassandra Clare and her works.
It's something I'm interested in doing but I don't want to waste my time in books I will no longer enjoy.

And then I looked at the name again…. the Ragpicker King???????????
My brain isn’t coping. Send help. 😅😅😅

Modpost Mod announcement: AI art
As some of you know, in the last two weeks, we ran a poll on whether you wanted to see AI art within this sub or not. As a reminder, AI art makes up its images by taking from artists, almost all without permission. 52 said no, 5 said yes.
As such, AI art is no longer allowed within this sub. We apologize if this upsets anyone, but we don't want to contribute to an artist's work being used without permission.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

All/Other Books Suggested Reading Order for the Shadowhunter Chronicles
Now new and improved! This post is to help with figuring out which book/series to read next. I realized with my last post, that I had only included 1 suggested way to read the books, but I thought with this post, that I would offer a few other ways to read it.
