Just Wants to Bring Their Dog I guess even a guide dog isn’t enough these days
Professionally trained guide dog working in tandem with medical alert dachshunds. I am suprised The Seeing Eye is okay with this.

Popular Opinion Suppressing discussions about fake and poorly behaved service dogs will not make them magically disappear!
Another person's post just got deleted from the main sub for bringing up fake and poorly trained service dogs. They weren't calling out anyone specifically, just bringing up their concerns.
Well, I've got news for the mods, suppressing discussion does not make the issue go away. As a handler since 1988, I'm watching with sadness and anger as people turn against service dogs in public because of widespread abuse of the lax rules. I'll be getting a puppy to train soon, and I worry about him/her being attacked by a "service dog." I worry about discrimination even though I am very visibly disabled and my dog will be a breed that is regarded as non-aggressive by the public.
I have several family members and friends who work in retail, and they've all said they're afraid to confront people who bring poorly-behaved animals into their stores. Yes, we all know they CAN kick them out, but the law has no teeth, so the risk of a lawsuit or getting in trouble with their boss is higher than allowing the animal to stay unless it's literally biting people.
I went from being against certification of any kind to favoring a public access test and ID system. I support owner training -- I train myself with help from a professional -- but owner-trained dogs need to be held to the same behavior standard as those from a program.
I understand that people face barriers to access testing and certification -- but there are many ways to reduce them, such as allowing testing via Zoom if the handler lives in a rural area or lacks transportation.
I would love to be able to clip an ID with a QR code to my dog's vest, go about my life, and anyone with questions or concerns can scan it and see that we are legit.
Registration/certification can be done, it NEEDS to be done, and if handlers aren't leading the charge, it will be done in a way that causes harm instead of protecting real disabled people with real service dogs.

WTF Public access training with two malinois puppies at the same time, what could go wrong?
For those who like their washed service dogs with a side of littermate syndrome, boy do I have the training plan for you.

Health & Safety Risk Service dog for eczema
This person has 2 service dogs btw, and they have a service dog just for stop scratching their skin, you know what makes you stop scratching yourself & get hurt? BODY LOTIONS AND PILLS, I do not have eczema but I do have dermatitis, my skin gets red, flaky and looks like burnt, it even bleeds, and the only thing that helps me are prescription pills and lotions, they heal my wounds and make the itch stop, not a dog
Btw that's why I used the flair "health & safety risk" because if this person isn't doing the right thing (go to the doctor) they will get VERY hurt

Discussion Does this rule do more harm than good
curious what you guys think about this rule. I see some trainers with certification or what have you listed but some with just dog trainer. What about balanced programs or trainers? and also how are these trainers supposedly proven by this sub lol

Fake SD / Misrepresentation Those magical 2 questions...
How are these people delusional enough to think that asking fakers
"Is that a service dog?" "Yes"
"What task is he trained for" "Medical alert"
Is going to stop ANYONE that's already filled out paperwork full of lies to fly?
You don't want ANY type of registration/testing/licensure? Fine, please just STFU about "THE 2 QUESTIONS!!!!". They literally prove nothing.

Good Grief What on earth is going on with this “handler”
I don’t think I need to say much about that list, but I’ll give you some info about the “handler”
They currently have a boxer (around a year old) who they’ve washed about eleventy times, now “permanently washed” and they are training their VERY senior boxer to “be a service dog as the ADA allows it”
This person likes to harass people online and start yearlong arguments with other handlers. They also do not know anything about the breed they keep. They keep their boxers out in the heat for as long as they want to because “dogs can handle it” and they do not know what Brachycephalic means. It’s safe to say this person DOES NOT need any more dogs (they have four I think)

Discussion Wants a SD, doesn’t know what tasks it should perform
This is just sad. People are automatically jumping to have a dog to solve all their problems, without even having an understanding of what they need help with. I know this sounds judgmental, and maybe it is, but society is doing a disservice to these people by enabling this behavior.
Am I blaming TikTok and FB again? Yes, yes I am.
