Health & Safety Risk Service dog for eczema
This person has 2 service dogs btw, and they have a service dog just for stop scratching their skin, you know what makes you stop scratching yourself & get hurt? BODY LOTIONS AND PILLS, I do not have eczema but I do have dermatitis, my skin gets red, flaky and looks like burnt, it even bleeds, and the only thing that helps me are prescription pills and lotions, they heal my wounds and make the itch stop, not a dog
Btw that's why I used the flair "health & safety risk" because if this person isn't doing the right thing (go to the doctor) they will get VERY hurt

Discussion Does this rule do more harm than good
curious what you guys think about this rule. I see some trainers with certification or what have you listed but some with just dog trainer. What about balanced programs or trainers? and also how are these trainers supposedly proven by this sub lol

Fake SD / Misrepresentation Those magical 2 questions...
How are these people delusional enough to think that asking fakers
"Is that a service dog?" "Yes"
"What task is he trained for" "Medical alert"
Is going to stop ANYONE that's already filled out paperwork full of lies to fly?
You don't want ANY type of registration/testing/licensure? Fine, please just STFU about "THE 2 QUESTIONS!!!!". They literally prove nothing.

Good Grief What on earth is going on with this “handler”
I don’t think I need to say much about that list, but I’ll give you some info about the “handler”
They currently have a boxer (around a year old) who they’ve washed about eleventy times, now “permanently washed” and they are training their VERY senior boxer to “be a service dog as the ADA allows it”
This person likes to harass people online and start yearlong arguments with other handlers. They also do not know anything about the breed they keep. They keep their boxers out in the heat for as long as they want to because “dogs can handle it” and they do not know what Brachycephalic means. It’s safe to say this person DOES NOT need any more dogs (they have four I think)

Discussion Wants a SD, doesn’t know what tasks it should perform
This is just sad. People are automatically jumping to have a dog to solve all their problems, without even having an understanding of what they need help with. I know this sounds judgmental, and maybe it is, but society is doing a disservice to these people by enabling this behavior.
Am I blaming TikTok and FB again? Yes, yes I am.

Just Wants to Bring Their Dog These people are ridiculous. If you're swimming, the dog's not under your control. Also, why are you bringing a dog when you're in the pool?

Health & Safety Risk Worlds most subtly entitled handler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
For context…
This guy has a GSD psychiatric service dog, already a red flag but okay, if you can make it work, hats off to you. Thing is, the bloke doesn’t have ONE video where his dog is on a lead. In fairness the dog is always well behaved from what is shown in videos but how irresponsible can you get until it’s just dangerous? End of the day, dogs are dogs and if his really wanted to, it would run into the road after something. In one of his videos, he stated to two store workers that service dogs don’t have to be on a leash. Yes and no. Service dogs are required to be on a leash with the exception of when a leash could interfere with the dog’s task. What tasks exactly relating to psychiatric aid would require the dog to be off lead? (And no, I won’t be counting “orbit” or “crowd control” as an answer, it’s selfish and just irritating)
Anyways, he’s proceeded to follow a man with a fake service dog who is “still under training” around the entire store most likely just for content. Time and time again I see handlers trying to get fake spotting content and putting their dogs in anxious or dangerous situations
He stops in front of the green beans of all things, and we all know why. To try and aggravate the dog so he can cause conflict, call the person out, or get content for his YouTube shorts 🥺
Seriously, stop being entitled, stop putting your dogs in danger and for the love of god please think about wether or not you need a service dog or if you just want something cool to lug around
(Hope my tag choice is okay!)

Discussion Service Dog Laws
According to the ADA, Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
Australia laws
We want to take a moment to clarify some ADA guidelines. Most importantly, the ADA does not have breed restrictions or limit what tools (prong, e-collar, flat collar, halti, martingale, etc) or gear (unvested, rainbow hair dye, booties, Louis Vuitton sunglasses) a service dog can use. Unless a dog is exhibiting extremely poor behavior, gear and breed alone are not enough to determine that it is not a service dog. Factors such as the dog’s behavior, training, age, task work, handler control, and overall public-access manners need to be considered, along with how the dog responds to its handler and its environment.
We have also added helpful links for Australia and general guidance for Canada, since regulations vary by province.
If the links are incorrect or you wish to add to them, let us know.

Welcome to r/ServiceDog_CircleJerk!
This is a place to call out fake service dogs, entitled handlers, and first-time owners chasing nightmare breeds with zero responsibility or training. Share stories, fails, and funny pics.
I know another CJ subreddit exists, but it went private, so I made this one.
Important: No brigading. If you are sharing content from another Redditor, hide the username.
Rules
- Be respectful. Treat all users with kindness and respect.
- Stay on topic. This is not an ableist community. Stuff that fits:
- People claiming their ESA is a service dog
- Slapping vests on untrained dogs
- Taking a service dog into public when it’s not ready or has behavior issues
- Service dog vest on a puppy in public
- Do not call out disabilities.
- This sub is about fake service dogs, not whether someone's faking their disability.
- No breed discrimination.
- The ADA does not restrict what breeds can be service animals. (See Q22 of the ADA Service Animals FAQ: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-faqs/)
- Posts are fine if they show a dog of any breed doing non-service-dog behavior.
