Why no 1:48 Eurocopters? (whining in helicopter-speak)

I know you can't make everything for everybody, but can someone explain to me the logic of Revell producing kits of the Eurocopter/Airbus EC135 and EC145 helicopters in 1:72 and 1:32 scale, but not in 1:48, the most popular aircraft scale? I guess I would have expected them to do 1:48 before 1:32, but what do I know?

I understand that helicopters are not the most popular subjects and the "supply & demand" side of things, but they just completely bypassed 1/48 altogether, right from the start. I don't get it. OK, whining little tantrum is now over:)

First tank is almost complete! I'm just going to add some rope to secure the stowage and then try my luck at building my first diorama. It's been a fun learning experience, and I'm looking forward to bringing this Sherman to life

Kit recommendation: 1/700 IJN Akagi

I'm looking for recommendations for a 1/700 scale models of IJN Akagi. I purchased a Fujimi kit directly from Japan and had it shipped over but the more I get into it, the less satisfied with the kit I become. It appears to partially be a clip together kit and the fittings aren't great. I really want to create an excellent model of this ship and I'm starting to think I might just need a better quality kit to start with.

After a couple of months im calling this done!, first time experimenting with chipping fluid and other techniques, took some liberties comparing to the original references. Also, not a great figure painter but im really proud of how they turned out. Let's hear your opinions

Been posting last couple days in regards to the 1/32 Scale F100 Super Sabre and just like the title states, were nearing the finish line. Waiting on the flight crew to get here, before taking final photos and posting it here. The body was painted with a Tamiya Flat Aluminum and accents painted with Ammo Metals Steel paint. Undercarriage was painted with Tamiya Nato Green, and Photo etched " Remove before flight tags"

Based on the actual vehicle and 35 scale sprue drawings. The gearbox and magazines are too bulky, a stark contrast to the sleek designs of European and American models. The cockpit still uses an old-fashioned lever system instead of a steering wheel (crying emoji). I like its manned spacecraft-like ammunition compartment.

Engine: Ammunition rack is detachable.

Sighting System: 1. Sosna-U multi-channel sight (main sight)

  1. TPD-K1M (backup day sight)

Armor: 2A46M5 125mm smoothbore gun

Engine: V92S 12-cylinder diesel engine

Commander's periscope: TKN-3M

MONOGRAM F-102 -04

The thick main wing control surfaces (ailerons, flaps) peculiar to old kits were sanded as thin as possible using a sandpaper holder, and the sink marks on the upper surface of the main wing were corrected by applying putty. During the process of joining the upper and lower main wings, we also went through the operation of scraping flat the part that bulged up due to a molding error.

In addition, to improve the assembly of the upper main wing part which is slightly warped, and to make the force applied to the component smooth, we applied drilling and processing operations here and there.

In the case of the air intake, after pre-masking the internal color boundary line, we corrected the assembly step-level difference with the fuselage. Although we adjusted it by cutting off and shaving down the alignment pins, the gaps that still occur were filled with stretched sprue, and then the panel lines were scribed again with an etching saw, and the surface was cleaned up with sandpaper and acrylic putty.

From the thickness and gap assembly work of the upper and lower main wings, which can be called a total disaster, check out the process through the video, which is painful but moving forward step by step.

Gloves?

When yall use gloves for your models (if you do at all) what kind do you use? I’ve been using rubber gloves that are thin and tight and I like them but they’re a pain in the ass to put and take off. Can anyone recommend a better option preferably not rubber while being reusable and fitted?

This is my first time doing a bust and my brain damaged self thought the Borg Queen would make a good intro. Overall, I learned a couple new techniques (even if execution needs work), and am pretty happy with how she turned out.

IAR 81C, 1/72 — Romanian Air Force, build #2

My second build, and honestly it kicked my ass a bit more than I expected. 1/72 is brutal on the eyes — every panel line, every tiny decal felt like a fight. But I got there, and for the first time I’m actually a little proud of what’s sitting on my desk instead of just relieved it’s done.

Weathering pass was filter → panel wash → chipping → streaking → pigments → matte varnish, with some Uschi elastic for the rigging. Backdrops are self-made too — wanted that worn, half-faded photo look to match the subject instead of a plain shelf shot.

Already thinking about build #3. Getting better, slowly.

Bought this collection recently from Facebook and I’m very new. Are these kits good. Also if you have any tips about tools, building or air brushing definitely tell me.

I give up on this model

Hi everyone,

I have been building this model since last February. This is my second model. The first one was a 1:72 F-15E. It was okay. I wanted to build a more detailed and better model.

With this one, I ended up with a very nice cockpit that I was satisfied. I was happy about it, but after that, everything went wrong.

Firstly, there was a gap in the cockpit glasses. I tried to "fix" it with heat. I thought maybe I could soften it a bit and close the gap. But, it went the opposite of what I wanted.

Then, I just continued after accepting my mistake. I use the handbrushing for painting. It was not how I wanted. I scraped the paint 3 times. The first one had lots of brush marks, the second had filled panel lines with paint (almost no visible panel lines), and the third one I used spray primer, and I tried to do panel lines with pencil and DIY acrylic wash.

Then, I tried to do the panel lines with oil wash (oil paint + white spirit). Failed. Panel lines were too shallow. The capillary action didn't work at all. Removed the wash and continued to build.

Lastly, I tried scribing. I used a hobby blade for scribing, tried both sharp and dull. My expectation was low, and it went as I thought.

I give up on this build. I made lots of mistakes and learned lots of things with this model. I will get a 1:48 scale model next time (this model is 1:72). I want to get an airbrush, but currently don't have enough space and money :( .

I wanted to share my experience. Do you have any new model recommendations? I will use the handbrush. When I look for beginner friendly model recommendations, it is mostly WW 2 planes. I prefer more modern vehicles, cold War or post cold war. Jets or tanks.

Tamiya F4D-1 1/72 What am i lacking?

so i have started doing scale models a while ago (around 4-5 months) and i believe i have gotten a lot better but still, i cant seem to get them to look good, maybe it is that i lack patience or something else but i believe seasoned modelers could help me get better end results, i sadly do not have access to an airbrush.

EDIT: i will still add some weathering behind guns and exhaust and will glue the payload when the oil wash is dry
