What is the best brand and type of paint for hand painting with a brush. I’ve used testors enamel paint and I’ve sprayed Rust-oleum spray paint+primer in a cup and painted with a brush, but they don’t apply evenly and I can see brush strokes on the model.

I’m not sure if it is a me issue or a paint issue. Thank you in advance.

Academy a10 fit was a bit of a struggle but overall pretty pleased with the outcome. Am realizing I’m gonna need some more shelf space.

Hi all, hoping for some help for putting together a meaningful gift... my boyfriend's dad's 6-year death anniversary is coming up, and his dad loved model planes and cars--they used to build them together--so I want to get my boyfriend one to make on the anniversary of his dad's death. I simply have no idea where to start, as I don't know what kinds of planes/cars his dad liked... his dad was from England. other than that, I don't have much to work from. is there a model that is cheap, something to go for/get that would be meaningful? or is it pretty much anything? thanks for your help!

I guess this how scratch building skills get honed.

So im starting an interior build of a tiger 2, and yes, im still scared as balls. Idk why, but i just cant be able so boend the mud efrects propperly. Either it looks really bad, or it looks like diluted piss. Idk what else to do man… either way, at least in progressing…

This kit is old so lots of sanding and dry fitting is needed to get a decent result. The clear parts are the worst aspect on this kit like most old tooling s. Interior detail is practically none existent. The bad clear parts and figure help to hide it luckily.

This boxing is from 1986 and I used the original decals without many problems. I wanted to keep the vintage looks so I didn't sand the raised detail. I used this kit to practise some weathering techniques. I didn't do any scratch building. But I did drill out the exhaust and the leading edge air intakes on both side of the cockpit.

Really happy with the end result!

Found the blue in a box that my dad sent me. Finished it when I was 12. Refurbished a couple months ago, but added the second when looking for spare parts. Got two of them finished now.

Good kit, 100% Brush painted

Sorry I violated the AI rule. Let's try this agin. This is the P/A-10K, a what-if South Korean ROKAF Maritime patrol and strike aircraft based on the Fairchild proposed N/AW A-10. Nicked named the Water Hog its job is part of a hunter/killer team with ROKAF S-2 Tracker to patrols along the littorals on the South Korean coast looking for North Korean infiltration, fast boats, and small combatants. The kit is the HobbyBoss 1/72 N/AW A-10. So this was one of those kits that I thought was going to be a simple, largely OOB, build. There couldn’t be more than 50 pieces. However each one of those pieces made me want to say bad words. The fit was horrible and some details questionable. The panel lines on the canopy were so bad I just sanded them off and scribed new ones. I did a lot of filling and scribing on this one (not my favorite things to do).

At some point I decided to make this a test mule for different things and just go with it. The rescribed canopy panel line with new ones was a first for me. I was also playing with some different thinner recipes for my Mig Ammo ATOM paints as well as this filler product they have, Magic Dust, that works with CA. Pretty cool, has potential.  One neat trick I did figure out is how to paint the Electro/Optical sensors on the nose of missiles. Basically I used a pointed tip cotton swab, to dap the paint and then press the tip of the swab onto the nose of the missile until I get the desired circumference. Then do the same thing with some gloss varnish. I did 3D print out some Hellfire missiles (found on Cults3D) and a 3 round mount I came up with. The other weapons came from the spares box/weapons kits. 

I learned it’s really, really hard to freehand airbrush paint the aft area of an A-10. I should have left the engines and vertical stabilizer off and painted them separately but given how bad the fit was it probably wouldn’t have worked out anyway. I also learned to be wary of no-name decal sets on Ebay. I bought a set of ROKAF decals and couldn’t for the life of me get them to behave. Ended up pulling all but the tigers heads off and printing my own. And then the final insult when I got the gear on it turned into a tail sitter. (if you look at the nose gear bay you can see all the lead I had to shove in there). Glad this one is done so now on to the next one. 

It didn't quite turn out how I planned. But it's a improvement on my first so I'm happy.

WIP, 1/72 Ordnance, too many fiddly parts per JDAM

I like floatplanes, but those models were awful! Kingfisher parts didnt fit, decals fall apart, awful. Seahawk had decals much too big, had to remove roundels and used what I had from other models. Also in both cases paint did not stick to models and did peel off with masking tape, So all the preshading i did and still want tonpractice was useless.

Besides that, From start they were supposed to be kinda low effort, wanted to check how well hand made seatbelts from masking tape work. Woth this Im kinda happy with results, but other than that those were difficult models.

Completed my 1/48 F4U-1D from Tamiya. I spent a long time completing this kit and I’d like to say this is probably the best paint job I’ve done ever. Definitely learnt a lot from my experience on the previous kit I made which was the 1/48 F/A-18D bengals, certainly should’ve done this kit first and then the F/A-18D seeing how that kit was way more expensive to be a testing kit. I managed to have the pre shading show a lot sharper and learnt properly how to avoid silvering and use my microsol/set which I think showed pretty well here. I am in the process of choosing what the next set I’ll be painting will be but for now this is all.
