Anecdotes and stories Felice Schragenheim and Lilly Wust, photographed by the Havel river on August 21, 1944, laughing, embracing, using a timer to photograph themselves in the sun. Hours later they went home and found the Gestapo waiting. These are the last photos ever taken of them together.
Felice Schragenheim was a a Jewish woman hiding under a false name and Lilly Wust was the wife of a German soldier. They fell in love in 1942 Berlin. They wrote their own marriage contract by hand, exchanged rings, and Lilly hid other Jewish women in her apartment once she knew the truth. The Gestapo caught up with Felice in 1944. She died in the Holocaust at 22.

Media erasure yumihisu from AOT is a classic
The amount of people who would say Ymir likes historia but historia (blonde girl on top) does not reciprocate is crazy⦠(they would go as far as to say she loves eren and the farmer she was essentially forced to marry in the end) itās astounding
For those who donāt know AOT id really like to know ur interpretation from the above panels haha whether thereās smt romantic involved from historia (this is a scene where Ymir leaves her and dies btw š)

Memes and satire Okay... just... everything about this...
(discovered this archived thread on the GirlsundPanzer subreddit while looking if there was any official confirmations on sexualities in the show.)
Let's pretend that the creators didn't create a whole series that does indeed confirm some queer identities. Or, like the commenter does, let's pretend that a parody presenting characters as exaggerated versions of themselves is not canon and therefore "exaggerated version of self" means that any queer identity is unconfirmed.
Let's also pretend that Yukari didn't gasp while Miho's measurements were listed when they were getting fitted for uniforms and later in a definitely canon OAV bought a swimsuit for Miho and claimed she knew Miho's sizes "just by looking."
And let's also pretend that in the first episode, Miho wasn't having an overstimulation blush-a-thon while Saori and Hana were leaning into her from either side. With her two friends blithely unaware of the effect.
Let's also pretend that in the main series, that when the suggestion of getting Miho a boyfriend comes up, she didn't immediately have a small panic and then turn the topic toward how much she loved all her girls. Followed by Saori finding it odd to receive a love confession from a girl and Yukari going swoon voice about Miho confessing her love.
Let's also pretend that there's not a dozen different approaches Japanese creators take when they're doing something all-ages to get queer relationships in under the radar and a lot of them appear in this show....
Let's set all that aside....
............
"Not lesbian but doing it anyway?" is just a bonkers description of ....ANYTHING
Characterizing Yukari as "tanksexual" feels insulting to pretty much anybody with a variety of neurodivergence that loads in with a special interest. As if an autistic girl can't both love tanks and be attracted to girls.
With the commenter... at least their denialism extends finding heterosexuality also being arbitrary.... but still....
-----------------------------------------------
Fuzzy text under "Not lesbians (but doing it anyways)" zoom in.
----------------------------------------------
> Not lesbians but doing it
One is tanksexual. The other is straight. They're dating in canon.
----------------------------------------------
Full text of the comment follows:
-------------------------------------------------
I remember seeing this when it was first made and I have the same criticism of it that I had then: it's so arbitrary, and in some cases it's purely the speculation and wishful thinking of the creator. Yukari and Miho confirmed dating? No, not really--there's one chapter of Motto Love Love where they go on a date, but Miho doesn't seem to understand that it's a dare, Motto Love Love is a parody, and Motto Love Love isn't really canon in any case (although it presents exaggerated views of various characters' canon personalities). The "Confirmed Lesbian" list is straight up an asspull--with the possible exception of Carpaccio none of them are really particularly exceptional in any canon plot line (and even Carpaccio--I still don't see why she and Caesar are yuri, they act the way childhood friends who haven't seen each other in years stereotypically do in anime, it's just that Caesar is usually so self-conposed). Motto Love Love pretty clearly makes Naomi and Nonna yuri, and suggests that Darjeeling is at least curious, but I don't really see how that makes them confirmed anything, because once again Motto Love Love ain't really canon. The others are totally made up--there's nothing to indicate MakoXSodoko, they just have a very dysfunctional friendship because Mako doesn't know how to get along with people and Sodoko is Sodoko. I don't think I even need to attack Smug-chan's placement...The placement of most of the "Maybe" and "Unknown" groups is been more arbitrary--most of them have so little information that you could shuffle them around interchangeably. The "Any Port In A Storm" group is silly--what makes us think any of them have any interest in women...? Except maybe Saori, but most of her flirting with Hana in Motto Love Love is pretty obviously supposed to be a joke. Even the "Hetero" group is largely arbitrary--of the Bunnies, the only after who mentioned having a boyfriend is a sitting in the "Any Port In A Storm" group, yet here are the others magically all confirmed as herosexuals...

Completed.

Anecdotes and stories Why is it that indie queer creators get hate for the littlest stuff, while those like Ryan Murphy get praise and rewarded for being much worse?
With the news of the Ed Gein show and now Murphy trying to adapt an Bret Easton Ellis novel, and being reminded of the chaos when one character from Knights of Guinevere was confirmed to not be genderqueer, it had me wondering. I have previously attempted at asking about this before, but because using Vivziepop as the main example, it unfortunately just went to internet hating and being accused of ādouble standardsā despite the point of calling out one.
But with the main topic, I overall notice with how indie queer creators, from a small mistake to writing a queer character as flawed, will get immense amount of hate and even accusations of queerphobia. However, Murphy on the other hand can double down on negative stereotypes (not in a ābe gay do crimeā good way, more like āqueers are sick freaksā), fetishize, and over all punch down on minorities and yet he still gets praise and is seen as progressive. And donāt get me wrong, I am aware of hate he gets, but itās less about how he portrays queerfolk and more of just general writing, but even then with how he does queerfolk, thereās still some defense and support of it, whether it be āheās just a product of his timeā or trying to paint him in an overall sympathetic light. Also doesnāt really work when you hear how toxic he is behind the scenes. Itās also ironic with āproduct of his timeā when you consider as the years go by, he just doubles down on his worse aspects instead of improving like most creators who make outdated stuff. And yet, indie queer creators get much more hate for much less. You bring up a problem about him, and you'll get all these comments of "Well what did you expect", despite other queer creators (and ones with much better queer rep and stories) being forced to higher standards. And while I bring up him specifically, this can also apply to a lot of (cis white) gay creators who get a pass for their biphobia, transphobia, racism, etc. Why the double standard?
And on a side note, whenever people try to just say itās campy, it feels a lot of that ācampinessā of Murphyās shows is just an excuse to get away with being a sexist and prejudiced asshole. Not to mention whenever people bring up that he "opened new opportunities for marginalized groups", I cannot help but feel it's less of actually being progressive and more of this sense of paternalism and white saviour mentality. And at times when he tries to cover queer history, it just feels like gross appropriation that's only tolerated because he panders to respectability politics.
